ELEANOR ROOSEVELT

On December 4th, ERHS Key Club held a street clean up with our sponsoring Kiwanis! Members, grabbing gloves and trash bags (and also wearing masks), cleaned along the entire street of Scholar Way, along with the parking lot of our high school. Together, key clubbers, kiwanians, and other members of our city, helped pick up trash for about an hour! This was an amazing opportunity for members to not only help keep their city clean, but also get to know their sponsoring Kiwanians, along with other people who help to keep their community clean, a bit more!

CENTENNIAL

During the month of December, Centennial Key Club began the Dog Toy Service Project, where members could make dog toys for service hours. Dog toys can be made of old t-shirts and other materials. Each toy would be donated to the Corona Animal Shelter. Members would send pictures of their completed dog toys to the Centennial Key Club email. The Dog Toy Service Project will continue into the next month and it will end during January.

CORONA

On December 30th, our president Madi Nguyen, and our co-vice-president Dasia Jimmons, went to the thrift store to purchase little keys as an award! These key awards will be given to Corona’s Key Club’s proactive members potentially for our February social, or sometime else in the future before the term ends!

JOHN F. KENNEDY

On December 9th we decided to have a destress potluck for our last meeting before winter break. This allowed students to be less stressed for finals. Ms. Debra was also kind enough to bring some food for us to have at our potluck. Overall I’d say it was a nice experience and we’d like to have another one again.

Others were cleaning tables for families and bringing them supplies that they needed. We were so excited to be a part of this event as it showed us the true meaning of being in a community. We wanted to help others and motivate those younger than us. One family had even questioned members as to why they decided to volunteer and how to join. They saw us as an inspiration and were motivated to give back as well.

On December 11th Santiago Key Club had a winter themed booth at our school’s Winterfest! Winterfest is an event open to the community where clubs can sell snacks or anything they choose to raise money for their club. This was such a great event, we sold ramen cups at our booth and they were a huge hit! We ended up selling out so it was a really great fundraiser for Santiago’s Key Club. This event was really fun to work at because we invited some of the members to help us sell ramen cups and it was so great to get closer to our members! Huge thank you to the Santiago officer board that made the event so successful and fun!

NORCO

Arriving at 7 in the morning at Nellie Weaver Hall, volunteers were preparing for the long yet exciting day ahead of them. On December 11th 2021 the city of Norco held an event where families were invited to a breakfast with Santa. Key club members were invited by the Kiwanis Club to assist in serving drinks and food during the event. Arriving at Nellie Weaver Hall, members were put to work right away. Members were put to organize the condiments and drinks which they continued to do throughout the event. Members were able to provide for their community as the “rush of the event kept me moving” said one member, Odalys Mendoza.
