Hey my Division 16 ohana Hope you all had a great Mother’s Day with your moms, they deserve it! But also keep in mind to treat your mom with respect and love every day, because mothers all around the world should not be appreciated on just one day of the year, they should be appreciated every day of the year:D On another note, this is the longest newsletter I’ve made so far, and I have to say that I am so proud of all the bulletin editors in our division who have sent me their newsletters. I received about ten out of seventeen newsletters from our division which is more than half and

last year I would continuously get like 3 at the beginning of my term so that is a huge jump and it is so overwhelmingly amazing to see that. The newsletters I received were amazing, they had so much time and love put into them and I’d like to thank all the ones who worked on them, you know who you are and I really appreciate the hard work you put into them. If you are reading this and you are not a bulletin editor, please acknowledge that this newsletter is amazing not because of what I did but because of all the division 16 bulletin editors who worked hard and

sent me news of their clubs and sent me pictures. While I was reading the newsletters and articles, it felt like I was actually there. They helped make this what it is, and they deserve all the credit and I don’t think they get enough and they should Thank you again to all the people who made this newsletter possible, the officers who took the time to write these articles and the bulletin editors who took the time to make their newsletters outstanding, thank you all!

This past month, the West Ranch High School Key Club held a car wash fundraiser at a local car wash. Key Clubbers sold tickets to friends and family and encouraged them to come out and support the club. Numerous volunteers helped vacuum and dry cars. Not only did the volunteers serve their community, they helped raise funds for their club to ensure more service in the future. Overall, the fundraiser was a huge success not only to West Ranch Key Club, but to the community as well. Written by: Yechan Lee (Bulletin Edit.)

On April 27th, North Hollywood High Key clubbers attended March of Dimes in order to raise awareness for premature babies. Similar to AIDS Walk, March of Dimes is held annually to raise funds for premature babies. The participants walked about four miles around the Exposition Park in LA. The walk began at 8:30 and the event continued on after the walk was finished. Barbecues and refreshments were set up for those who finished their walk. Hundreds of people attended this event including Key Clubs from different divisions.

North Hollywood Key clubbers are now selling lemonades for cancer research. Starting from April 23rd, the club members set up lemonade stands weekly and sold over hundreds of lemonades. The lemonades were sold during the Powder Puff games and lunch. Luckily many students purchased the lemonades since the weather was very hot. The profit from the sales will go towards to PTP and cancer research.

Written by: Algrae Gorospe (Bulletin Edit.) On the 26th of this month, John Burroughs' Key Club participated in volunteering at Stevenson Elementary School's annual rock festival. Different key club members enjoyed volunteering at the various food stands and carnival like booths. David Salas enjoyed helping out at the bean bag toss booth which featured a water dunk zone if the participant is able to shoot the bean bag into

the hole. This event lasted from the afternoon until the evening, filled with lots of service and memorable moments for all the key club members and the students of Stevenson Elementary School. This event has been a tradition for our members to be a part of and hopefully will continue throughout the years. It was overall a very enjoyable event.

Meanwhile An Hoang enjoyed providing service to customers at the bake sale stand, a very sweet experience! Also, Xerxes Peter Garbes enjoyed helping the kids in races that featured them riding on inflatable animals along the colored strips laid out on the floor. A very amusing and task to be a part of.

Written by: Danielle Byers (Bulletin Edit.) On April 13th, we had our final Alemany Amigos of the school year. Alemany Amigos is a service project we do about 5 times a year. It is always held on Saturdays and around 10:00 AM children ages 7 to 12 arrive in buses from areas with significant gang activity. The kids really enjoy Alemany Amigos because it provides them with a safe place to have fun for a few hours. Alemany students arrive around 9:00 AM to set up certain stations for the children. For about the first hour and a half that the kids are at Alemany we don't allow any of them to sit down and do what they want. They must be active in some way whether it be playing a sport, tag, red rover (etc). After this time, they are allowed to keep playing sports, make arts and crafts and participate in any activity that is offered. The children leave with their buses around 1:00 PM and they leave with smiling faces. The children always look forward to coming back. This is a great project and the children love it as well as the Alemany volunteers.

April 13th was our fabulous Kiwanis One day. At the Mckinley Elementary School, Burbank High Key Clubbers were joined by Key Clubbers from Bellarmine-Jefferson High School, the Builder’s club and Kiwanians. Working along the area of school dental clinic, volunteers recoated the benches; cleaned the windows; planted trees; gathered leaves; and sweep up the floor. Everyone worked diligently and soon the place sparkled with spring sensation. After the work session, volunteers had great time of acquaintance with others in enjoying the lunch, which was generously provided, together. It was a very enjoyable day.

If you’re into social media and Key Club, you’re in luck! Bell Jeff’s Key Club is now active on Tumblr! We will be posting plenty of service opportunities and informing our followers of special Key Club related events and activities. We are also going to archive all bulletins beginning from the month of April from now on. To top it all off, we are in the process of building a photo gallery of all thememories we share with our fellow Key Clubbers throughout the year. We can’t wait to add more as the year progresses. So get on your phones, laptops, tablets, etc. and follow us on Tumblr at bjhskeyclub.tumblr.com !

Key Clubbers enjoyed helping the IMA of John Burroughs High School in their annual Goodwill Fundraiser. The IMA and Key Club joined together in collecting various items from clothing, toys, electronics, to household items to donate to the Goodwill. We are very thankful that the IMA gave us the opportunity to lend a helping hand to this noteworthy fundraiser. This event was held on Sunday, the 14th of this month. It required some serious heavy lifting and a huge amount of energy. But as always the more work put into our service events, the greater the feeling of good we feel in the end. This event had our key club members, especially the guys.

They carried all the different items donated from a huge pile that filled almost the entire parking lot of our school, into bins that was then loaded onto the Goodwill truck. Thank goodness for our strong male key club members to pull through on the heavy lifting. Fortunately, even though this event featured a lot of work, as usual, all the key club members found a way to make this a memorable event. Going through the numerous piles of donated goods was very amusing to all that participated. Also the company of the JBHS IMA made the event even more fun! A key club event is always the perfect combination of service and fun.

As the day went out, the worked seemed harder and the hours seemed longer. But all the key club members and IMA were able to pull through and enjoy the entire event. Enjoying the various snacks that the mom's of the IMA shared with us, to finding cool toys that we all enjoyed playing when we were younger in the piles. There honestly was never a dull moment in this event, like all of our events. To conclude, the fundraiser was a huge success in that we were able to fill two huge long Goodwill trucks packed with many donations. The outcomes was amazing. A big thank you to all that donated and all that participated in this event. All the hard work is always appreciated and shared!

Division 16 held their first Division Council meeting (DCM) of the 2013-2014 term on April 27, 2013 at Bell-Jeff high School from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The DCM was a success, beginning with Lieutenant Governor Claudia Diaz discussing important Division News, introducing the new division 16 officer board, and giving out awards to the Member of the Month for April to Christine Pham and Club of the Month for April to Providence High School. Schools shared ideas with each other, ideas for fundraisers, event information, etc. Project Eliminate was also mentioned because the following week was Eliminate Week. After this, the new division 16 spirit chairs helped lead wonderful ice breakers such as Laser Eyes, Ships and Sailors, and officers were able to dare members while members also dared officers! The Division 16 spirit cheers were also practiced and the DCM included fun spirit battles. This helped to get the division ready for Fall Rally, which is quickly approaching.

This year, we wanted to emphasize the various levels of Key Club. That being said, we have set goals that we want you to focus on as a district, division, club, and member! As ONE district, our aim is 46,000 members. As divisions, we want to work towards contributing to a goal of $150,000 for PTP.

As clubs we want to come together to serve 1,000,000 hours of service. And as individual members, we each want to save 3 lives from MNT. (That's only $5.40 per member!) Together, this will bring us to one GOLDEN year.
