LETTER FROM THE LTG

Hey Key Clubbers!8 Division 26 Unicorn Utopia – Pacific Northwest District – Key Club International – June 2012 – Issue 3 I hope you all had a wonderful and eventful time at district convention this year! It’s that time of the year where everyone who went to Dcon is sobbing because they’ll miss all the cheers and the spirit everyone has at dcon. With that being said, our DCM, or what we’ll call it, our “post dcon” DCM will be at Alki this month and there you’ll get to see all your friends from within our division as well as anyone else who decides to show up. ;) Now, many of you may not know me so I guess I’ll give a brief introduction of who I am. I’m from Mount Rainier High School, in the junior class, my birthday is in August, I joined Key club my sophomore year and stuck with it because it became my second home. I wasn’t always social but Key Club transformed this caterpillar into a shining butterfly and I’m thankful that this club exists. There hasn’t been a moment where I questioned if I still wanted to be in this club because it’s not just a club to me, it’s where I go to give back to the community and volunteer my service to the world.

SEATTLEDCON RALLY & DCON Rep D.26! I hope you all had an exciting time at Dcon! I know I did. This year it was at the Washington Convention Center with roughly 1,900 key clubbers with the same passion for service and that is truly amazing.

Seattle Rally For those of you who wanted to go to dcon but couldn’t, don’t worry, there’s always Seattle Rally which is basically a mini Dcon for people around our area which includes northern Washington and southern Washington!

DCON PICTURE Although this picture doesn’t do justice to the numbers of member we took to dcon, It’s a good representation of the sense of family we all have for one another.

EXECUTIVE

Location for Seattle Rally I’m currently looking into a venue where we could host Seattle Rally. If you think your school can host it and has a large building/auditorium for it then email me at ngokevin.ltg26@gmail.com so we can talk about it!

After a decade-long acting career culminating in a role on The Sopranos (HBO), he decided to follow his real passion—by moving to Africa. He now traverses the globe from Tanzania to Thailand as host and producer of Bridge the Gap (PBS), a show in which he discovers what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes for a day. Chris has interviewed some of the most influential people on the planet, including NBA superstar Dikembe Mutombo, the founders of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and chimpanzee expert Dr. Jane Goodall. Chris has spoken everywhere from Brazil to TEDx to Azerbaijan. He’s a guest author for award-winning publications such as the Huffington Post and Lonely Planet and the United Nations’ “go-to kid” for all things about youth, Brooklyn and cultural exchange. Chris is 25 years old. Bashinelli will be the keynote speaker at the opening session of the Key Club International convention in Anaheim, California, on July 3, 2014.
