GREETINGS A WORD FROM OUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR: Hey Baby Dragons! After a long period of incredible fathers, you now have another mother dragon! Yay! I am proud that all of my baby dragons are very hardworking, caring, and passionate. I am excited to work each and every one of you. Unfortunately, for now, we will have to progress at a slower pace than I would like, but once school is out, we will be soaring through the sky! I have a lot of fun events planned for you guys so anticipate what is to come for this fantabulous year! Please, please, please don’t forget to thank Alan Yeh for all the hard work he has done for our division. He has done a wonderful job building upon our division’s legacy and I am honored to have such an amazing outtie like Alan. It will be hard to even match what he did, but I will do my absolute best to take our division to even greater heights! I’ve opened up my arms, my ears, and my heart to every single one of you. Don’t be afraid to say hi or give me a hug and definitely don’t hesitate to tell me your problems. I am your friend, your Mama Dragon, your protector, and guardian. See y’all at my first DCM! Yours always in caring, love, friendship, and service

Morgan Lucena

Lieutenant Governor of Division 32

FAREWELL TO “ My Dearest Division 32, How does one pack four years of “thank-yous” into a mere letter? How does one reflect on the laughs, the fulfilling experiences, the service, the derps in a few paragraphs—or in this case, stanzas? It’s nearly impossible…but as I try to attempt this incredible feat, I might as well do it with a sick beat: Division 32 has always been the best, From service to spirit, they’re better than the rest. With passion that burns brighter than the sun, These toasty dragons sure know how to have fun. Being LTG has really been awesome, It has been a pleasure watching each of you blossom. From freshmen to sophomores and juniors as well, Even seniors have broken out of their shell. Dragons are mighty, dragons are strong With dragons you know, things will never go wrong. For if you mess up, it’s alright we’ll say Because we’re family, and family will never go away. With that said, I’m not really leaving, For you’ll be in my heart, so please stop grieving. Think of all of the wonderful times we had. For those I am grateful; they were all pretty rad. Key Club has been one heck of a journey With all of its lessons, it’s definitely learn…ey. Because of you all, I am who I am today But my time is up and I know I can’t stay. Thank you to everyone: students and adults and all In my heart, in my mind, your impact stands tall. Remember to inspire, like you inspired me,

“YEH”STERDAY GREETINGS Continue to build your home, school, and community. And with people to serve, seize every opportunity. Serve one and all, and forget all strife. Caring is, after all, our way of life. I’m not sure if a simple poem can do you all any justice to express how grateful I am for knowing each and every one of you. This has truly been the most fulfilling experience of my life and I owe that all to you. You made me feel welcome, with your kind and toasty hearts, and brought me up whenever I felt down. You supported me and helped me when I felt vulnerable and distressed; you gave me the confidence boosts I needed to continue working. It is because of you, despite how much of a cliché this statement is, that I am who I am today. It has been an absolute pleasure and honor serving you all. I wish all of you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors. To the new club officers, I wish you nothing but the best during your terms. Support Morgan in every way you can. I’m confident that if you all work together, you can make our division better than it has ever been. To my innie Morgan, you are going to be remarkable no matter what obstacles stand in your way. It is of the utmost certainty when I say that you will be the best lieutenant governor that this division has ever seen. You go Mama Dragon! Here’s my farewell. Farewell is used to express good wishes when parting, and so I truly mean it when I say farewell. However, at the same time, what I really mean is “see you later.” Note that this is not a goodbye. It is a farewell, but it is not a goodbye. It is a “see you later.” Goodbye suggests that we’ll never see each other again. However, in some way or another, I know our paths will cross, and so... “See you later.” Agape, Alan Yeh Immediate-Past Lieutenant Governor of Division 32 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International

DISTRICT CONV RECAP

DCON 2014 was fantabulous! Openning session started off with booming sounds, flashing spirit gear, and ground shaking excitement and cheers. The oh so very smooth Joseph Vincent performed a mix of his originals and covers, even a promposal in the end, sweeping all the ladies and fellas off their feet. The Keynote Speaker, Houston Craft, was fantastic! He showed us the true meaning of love and all the different types we express. Although we didn’t get the spirit stick, we showed some phenominal spirit! Shout out to Kent-Meridian for starting a special D32 edition of the Key Club cheer! Saturday was chock full of officer training, workshops, and spirit battles. All of this lead to the closing ceremony where our very own KentMeridian Key Clubbers performed an award winning song about Key Club and the installation of the new PNW Executive Board followed suit. The last night of convention ended with the Governor’s Ball. The weekend was an experience that I’ll never forget and I can’t wait until the 66th Annual District Convention at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA! Kudos to our Immediate-Past Convention Chair Denny Lim for pulling off such a wonderful DCON!

With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. To eliminate MNT, more than 100 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take $110 million — and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family. Since 1999, UNICEF and its partners have immunized nearly 100 million women in 50 countries with two or more doses of the vaccine and have eliminated the disease in 29 countries. Countries that have recently validated the elimination of MNT include Turkey, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. MNT still remains a deadly threat in 30 countries.
