GREETINGS Hey Baby Dragons!

It’s that time of the month again! And by time of the month, I mean newsletter time! The Toasty Times is finally out of the toaster so please enjoy with some jam and butter! Time is flying by and we all need to get to work before we get to smell the sweet air of freedom. From studying for AP/IB/EOC exams and finals to preparing for our last projects for the year, we are doing their best to end the year on a fantabulous note. Good luck to you all and study as hard as you can! Get some rest, east a healthy breakfast, and do your best! Mama Dragon is rooting for you! I know you all will do fantabulous! The end of the school year also means graduation. Seniors! Your time in Key Club is almost over, but the fun doesn’t have to stop here. Join Circle-K or Kiwanis after college and stay involved in your community! I know May is a busy month, but that doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t volunteer. There are a bunch of easy ways to give back to your community! Your Key Club can spend an afternoon cleaning the classrooms and corridors of your campus, make care cards and donate them to Children’s Miracle Hospital, have a Miracle Minute at your next Key Club meeting, plant some flowers at your campus, a nearby park, or all around town, or make thank you gifts for the teachers at your school. Officers! Please remember to keep up with your duties and watch out for key dates. I know balancing school, work, friends, family, sleep, hobbies, and your Key Club life is ready hard, but take deep breaths and breaks so you don’t stress out. Procrastination is your enemy! Don’t fall under the influence Baby Dragons! Oh, I have one very special announcement! I am taking away The Dragon Cup. Dun dun dun. I thought the competition was too cut-throat. As Lindbergh’s former president, I apologize for taking the competition way too seriously. However, please continue to read my newsletters, answer the newsletter questions, attend DCMs and carry out your duties because I am going to implement a new competition called Dragon Scales and will still count everything you guys have done so far. The Dragon Scales competition will make you guys compete against your former officers’ achievements instead of each other. The point of Dragon Scales is to create more memories and a comfy environment in our division, improve communication throughout our division, improve member, officer, and club performance, which put together, will improve our division as a whole. Goals will be set for members, officers, and clubs and if these goals are met, Dragon Scale Points will be rewarded. If a club meets a specific number of Dragon Scale Points by the end of the year, that club will be invited to The Dragon Scale Party where cool prizes like big checks and certificates will be given out. I will hold a PCM on May 18th to discuss the Dragon Scales in more depth with the presidents. I will make an official post about it in my next newsletter.

Yours always in caring, love, friendship, and service

THE ELIMINATE PROJECT

What is the Eliminate Project?

The Eliminate Project is a joint project with Kiwanis and UNICEF to internationally terminate MNT.

What is MNT?

Maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) is tetanus that occurs in mothers and new borns. Its effects are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. MNT kills one baby every nine minutes. It also kills mothers and there is little hope of survival.

Who suffers from MNT?

MNT strikes the poorest of the poor, the geographically hard to reach and those without health care. It is caused when tetanus pores, found in soil everywhere, come into contact with open cuts during childbirth.

Can MNT be stopped?

Yes! Just three doses of a 60-cent immunization protect mothers, who then pass on the immunity to their future babies.

DO YOUR PART EDCUCATE yourself Advocate to the world Invest to save and protect Eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus

$1.80 is enough to save the lives of a mother and her newborn
