Colab is a workstation for clinical microbiologists that allows them to work together with two collaborative robots to reduce the amount of repetitive tasks and improves the overall quality during inoculation and gives microbiologists a better insight in bacteria growth during the incubation phase with the help of AI. The Time To Result (TTR) will be reduced and the overall quality of a sample will be improved, which not only benefits the patient due to quicker diagnosis, but also allows the microbiologists to focus on tasks he/she loves to do within clinical microbiology.

design for intimacy; the joy of showering together 3 - WEEK INDIVIDUAL PROJECT

W H AT D O I B E L I E V E I N?

intimacy + design I believe design makes the biggest impact in people’s life when you truly understand their behaviour, values and drivers. Emotions play a big role in the acceptance of newly developed product. In order to get a shower concept accepted, which focusses on the joy of showering together, it is crucial to know why couples shower together and why couples do not shower together. User research showed me both the positive and negative aspects of showering together as a couple.

N E G AT I V E E X P E R I E N C E S

single oriented

weekend feelings

Most of the showers are made for single showering, which makes couple showering more difficult.

Showering together leads often to spending more time in the shower. Due to work routines, couples shower often in the weekend.

POSITIVE EXPERIENCES

love expression

spa feeling

When showering together, couples often do this out of love and sexual attraction, lust and could also be part of relationship therapy.

Often dual showerin is associated with a sense of relief, calmth and relaxation. These words and feelings represent a feeling people get in a spa environment.

relief is a shower concept which empowers the pleasure to shower together. This shower, inspired by mother nature’s beauty, can not only be used as a couple shower, but could give you a complete wellness experience when showering alone. The twigs of the shower could be used independently to satisfy your needs or create a complete indoor wellness experience. The shower can be used with the handles, whose are positioned at the bottom.

WHY NOT TOGETHER?

made for the two of of you Six twigs can be used to create a welness experience you have never experienced before. This experimental concept allows rhythms of pulsations to personalise your wellness experience, may it be experienced by yourself or with your partner. The two bottom twigs can be detached, like a regular shower.

insight one

weight lifepak With 12.4kg weight, the Lifepak offers a lot of functions, but is too heavy to call it portable. Due to its weight, paramedics sometimes keep the defibrillator in the ambulance.

insight two

patient nervosity With 12 ECG electrodes and cables attached to his/her body, the patient becomes more nervous than before. This nervosity affects the result of the ECG in a negative way.

insight three

manual checking Paramedics check the ECG-paper print out manually to find defects and abnormalities. They sometimes miss them due to stressfull situations.

insight four

risk of breaking Cables can break, which means paramedics can’t obtain an accurate ECG anymore. Since the cables are covered with plastic, it’s hard to see internal damage.

INTRODUCING

cardiacstart CardiacStart is a new way of accurately acquire an electrocadiograph (ECG) of patients. The use of wireless ECG electrodes is making it able to acquire an ECG twice as fast. The self sensing electrodes are making existing wires useless, which results in a less busy workspace around the patient.

The paramedic can now measure the patient’s blood pressure without finding a way around the cables. The patient feels more relaxed without cables over his/her body. This will result in a more accurate ECG and a more positive experience in the ambulance.

making the pads universal The wireless ECG electrodes are using positiong sensors to detect the location on the body based on eachother’s position. The LED will light up in a specific color based on their determined position. The wireless ECG-electrode exists of two parts. The part with the transmitter and electronics (1) is plastic and is a long-term use product. The pad (2) is a disposable sillicon part that is using a conductive gel at the bottom to receive the electrical activity better.
