Banadir lifts 2016 Super Cup trophy

Sports Club won the 2016 edition of Somalia’s super cup match after downing their foes Jeenyo FC in the fight for the Super Cup trophy on 11th of November 2016.

The match ended in 1-1 stalemate during the normal period plus the extra time and to decide a winner there were penalty shootouts and as a result Banadir Sports Club won the trophy 3-2 on pens.

This was the second time in less than two weeks that the two teams fought for a high profile trophy. On October 30th, they fought in the final of General Da’ud Cup which is the send most popular sporting competition in Somalia. Jeenyo FC won the final 4-1 on pens to lift the 2016 edition of General Da’ud Cup.

However, the Super Cup trophy marked the second major victory for Banadir Sports Club in 2016, as they were already the national league winners unbeaten.
