EDITORIAL Through Akram Vignan—step less path of Self-realization of Gnani Purush Dadashri one attains ‘Atma Drashti’—vision as the Self, within two hours. Then only one starts to practice brahmacharya—freedom from all sexual impulses through thoughts, speech and acts—in a real sense. This is so, because awakened awareness—jagruti arises after the Self-realization. With this awareness one attains vision to see through ‘as it is’ that leads to dispassion—vairagya, followed by vitaragata—detachment. Attachment to worldly beings—raag, arises due to the illusion—maya that is created due to decrease in jagruti—awareness. The clothes, women and external instruments increase this attraction because basically one has been a vishayi—one inclined towards seeking pleasure in sexuality, life after life. However, once the vision (that was sexual and seeking worldly pleasures) is purified then there is no place left that can create any attraction anywhere. In this current era of the time cycle the sexual vision is a grave sin. Now wherever you get attracted or tempted sexually, you have to ask for energy of brahmacharya from the pure Soul of the same person, by saying, ‘O pure Soul! Give me the strength to maintain my brahmacharya with the entire world.’ This time is such that once you make an eye contact with a person, the vision of sexuality arises, that is why you must make resolve in your inner intent that, ‘Except for the experience of the pure Soul, I do not want any temporary things of this world.’ One can progress further staying sincere to this. Why does the vision become spoilt and tainted (become sexual)? It is because one cannot maintain awareness. Gnani Purush Dadashri says, ‘For me this experiment of ‘three vision’ is constantly in place.’ The body is made up of only the refuse covered with beautiful sheet of skin, then how can any illusion over sex (moha) ever arise? If one uproots and discards the sexual thought as soon as it arises, at the stage of a two leaf sapling, maintain strong inner opposition towards any little attraction and does a lot of pratikraman—apology coupled with remorse and feels as if any touch pleasure is like poison that will ruin his many lives to come, then one can preserve brahmacharya. Overt mistakes in sexuality (interaction) would never be tolerated at all. Destroy such type of mistake even by employing the ego, otherwise it is equivalent to a gross and severe betrayal of satsang, Gnan and the Gnani, which makes one liable for terrible punishment; throws of his living moksha and makes him miserable in the worldly life. And the one who takes up the vow of brahmacharya, thus taking up the path of pure worldly interaction, will experience endless bliss of the Self. True brahmacharya through awakened awareness Questioner : One will have to forget the differences between man and woman, no? Dadashri : One does not need to forget the difference. One feels the difference because of the illusion; moreover even if one wanted to forget the difference, it is not possible to do so. One will have to awaken and such awakened awareness—jagruti will be necessary. Having attained this Gnan, one has attained the vision as the Self—atmadrashti and with this as the awakened awareness increases, by that much he will start ‘seeing’ through and through (see three vision that follows in this magazine). Once this ‘seeing’ happens, dispassion definitely arises, and then only one can become vitarag—absolutely free from attachments, otherwise is it possible to become vitarag? And truly it is exactly like that. When the ‘full’ awareness establishes, that awareness itself results in Kevalgnan— Absolute enlightenment. Questioner : The moment one makes the firm decision about practicing brahmacharya, awakened awareness increases. Dadashri : No, jagruti—awareness arises when ‘we’ (The Gnani Purush and the fully enlightened Lord within) give you Gnan— Self-knowledge. Otherwise there is not any other way to attain awareness. These outside people (those who have not taken Gnan) also practice brahmacharya, do they not? But this awakened awareness does not exist there. 2

The sexual allure of attire and its illusion Brahmacharya is dependent on this awakened awareness, no? When this jagruti— awakened awareness dims the illusion takes hold. Otherwise is this body not filled with bone, pus and flesh? Questioner : So in the matter of this vishaya—sexuality, the illusion arises due to these clothes. The moment one sees someone, the first thing that is evident are the beautiful clothes; from that moment only the illusion arises. Dadashri : The clothes create the illusion because deep within—basically one is a vishayi—lustful and filled with sexual inclinations; and that is why the clothes create more moha—illusion. If one is not a vishayi then clothes cannot create any illusion. If you lay beautiful clothes around here, will the illusion occur? That means one finds sex pleasant, has desire for it, and that is why that illusion arises. How can illusion arise in the one who has no desire for sex? Who creates this illusion? The past life karma effects in this life give rise to this illusion, and these; we—the awakened ones in Akram Vignan—clean off. Otherwise what these poor clothes can do? This result is the effect of seeds sown in the past life. The illusion of attraction does not happen towards all; it only happens towards the one with whom one has a karmic past life account. The illusion happens only where there is an account pending. With others, the new causal seeds of illusionary attachment and attraction are laid down, however the effect—result of illusion does not arise. The illusion over sex arises January 2007

due to these clothes; otherwise most of the attraction would dissolve if the clothes were to be removed. The moha would diminish only in our higher community. The illusion—bhranti remains due to these clothes, if one’s vision falls on someone without the clothes on, it can create dispassion naturally. Hence the discovery of the Digambaris—sky clad, the Jain sect whose ascetics move about without clothes. To be the nimit to create a fault in the other If we dressed up with beautiful clothes, then only others will be attracted to us through moha, no? Who is at fault in this? So if someone gets attracted to us then it is verily our own our fault! That is why Vitarag Lords say, ‘escape from this worldly life. The other person gets attracted due to us and becomes unhappy, and therefore we become instrumental—nimit, cause, of his misery, no?’ Just imagine how great this science of this Vitarag Lord is? How wise this Vitarag Lords are! What are your thoughts about them? Don’t you think they are wise? They pluck their hair (traditional ritual of the initiation into monkhood, so that one would not be the instrument of attraction for others) so the other person does not come to feel any pain. The saints and spiritual masters of the past would strive to hide their good looks by various means of growing their beards or plucking off the scalp hair. They would live with much alertness of, ‘someone will be affected adversely through my good looks.’ They will not mess with such current practices of personal beautification like growing hair on the scalp, etc. Questioner : But someone may feel pleased too upon seeing a handsome face, no? Dadashri : Whosoever derives any January 2007

pleasure is sure to experience the pain that is its inevitable result. This is because its end result is pain. This means that even if it brings pleasure, its end result is painful. Nowadays people are not that attractive at all. Any current good look one may have is turned into ugliness by the ego. Fair skin means the stock of moha Questioner : Who will have more moha—more prone to the illusion; the one with fair skin or the one with dark skin? Dadashri : The one with beautiful skin. The one whose external appearance—skin is beautiful, know that he or she will get enjoyed more—lusted after, by people. Questioner : The one with beautiful skin, is his pudgal—non-Self complex of integrating and disintegrating matter—filled with more moha—illusion? Dadashri : Yes, then only one has attained this attractive body, no! The thing is, the fair skin is not considered an attractive skin. For people in India, the wheat color is considered the best skin. Yours and my skin color is wheat color—brown. It is the best and the ultimate color. The ones with attractive skin are very fair and they have more moha. That is why they become more prone to be the objects of sexual pleasure by others. Such are these laws of the nature. For us this ‘Gnan’—awareness as the Self should remain present. All the stock that is attractive, and attracts will be traded. Such young adults, boys and girls will get traded—sexually. Questioner : On what basis one has filled such stock of attraction? Dadashri : When one has more moha—illusion, then it results in—karma effect—of becoming more attractive. Such a 3

person is called moorchhit—unaware spiritually. When moha decreases, a shapely body structure is attained, but the skin would not be attractive. The ones with such shapely bodies are considered good-looking. An attractive skin is not considered beautiful in real terms. It is merely market material that gets traded—sexual gratification—continuously. If we ask these worldly people to go buy some mangoes, what will they purchase? They will buy the ones, which look beautiful from the outside. Then Lord knows whether or not they would be sour form inside! Charismatic inspiring personality is beauty When one is charismatic and inspiring— prabhavshali, one becomes impressed upon seeing such a person, and one’s inner intent changes (for the better); whereas, by looking at that other person—the one which attracts— mohi prakruti—one will have inner intents that leads to one’s slide into lower life forms— adhogati. What kind of stock—from past life— is that? That is why they say, strive to meet the one who inspires you, and invokes positive inner intents that take you higher and further spiritually. And by looking at the other person one loses one’s sense of right and wrong instantly. Questioner : Dada, the stock that we have filled in past life—expressing in current life—will it change in this very lifetime? Dadashri : Everything will change. Once you decide to change then everything will change. All these, is the old loss—error of past life. Now that business is closed. Tirthankara Lord Mahavir’s skin was not attractive. The Lord had the most beautiful body. There was no element of moha—illusion in his prakruti—non-Self complex. Moha prakruti is verily an attractive skin (the covering that attracts). A person with moha prakruti 4

would have the sexual look in the eyes. Such creatures of today even go as far as to hold, ‘how handsome, I am.’ Hey you! You have zero value in this world! There is no rise in inner intent—prabhav upon seeing you. On the contrary, upon seeing such a one, one is lured into the lower world and whatever sense of right or wrong is there, leaves instantly. These young girls look at such men, and instantly they loose awareness. That is why one should not look at someone with such stock. Look at the one, whose eyes will inspire and raise you higher spiritually, who will change your intents and thoughts for the better, who will impress you into inspiring you. All this other is garbage, rubbish, ‘trading’ quality stock. Nobody will say this in this world. This matter has never been revealed so far! The world does not know this! People think what a beautiful body he has! Hey, why you need to encourage him with such exaggeration? People are going towards lower life form due to such pull. How would be a human being? The moment one looks at a spiritually energizing—prabhavshali—person; one will have beautiful thoughts and will forget the worldly life. That is the reason our people used to admire prabhavshali beings. Do you understand now the value of the skin? Questioner : Zero valuation. Dadashri : This body is the horrible heap of filth covered under silk bed-sheet— skin. Flesh, blood, pus and all kind of filthy and stinking stock is in this. In addition gutter and everything else is there. People are just enjoying sexual pleasure without being aware of this. How many people would be pleased if all this filthy stock that lies within was offered without the covering—skin? Questioner : No one will touch it at all. January 2007

Dadashri : Oh! They will not even look at it. Even if they look, instantly they will spit or throw up. Hey, then what is in your stomach? Yet, he caresses the area around the stomach and continues in the absorption of his sexual designs and desires. Sincerity coupled with a firm decision You are still young; you have not come across the results—expressing effects—of deluding karma yet. Those karmas have not unfolded—risen for you, no? So if you adjust it all well within, from now then you will not encounter any problem. This Gnan— awakened awareness as the Self, this nischaya—determined decision, all this you should set such a way that it cannot shake you even at the time of deluding karma effects which create attraction. It is the strangeness of this era of current time cycle that people have brought with them huge mohaniya—deluding karmas, which makes one absorbed in the nonSelf. Therefore, say, ‘how are you?’ but do not initiate eye contact continuance (leading to expression of sexual communication) with anyone. Do not converse with anyone engaging his or her eyes. Only this vishaya ras— enjoyment of sensual pleasure (sexual enjoyment) is such that it can make one lose everything one owns—one’s self. The major difficulty is only with this abrahmacharya— incontinence of sexual impulses or else you should make a decision early in the morning that except for the experience of the pure Soul, I do not want any temporary things of this world, and then should remain sincere to this. There are lots of rogues inside that will not let you remain sincere, but if you remain sincere then nothing can obstruct you. Your awareness will be in proportion to your sincerity. This I am giving you as an aphorism (sutra) and with such clarification that January 2007

even a little boy can understand. But the awareness depends upon your sincerity. This is a science. Your progress depends upon your sincerity, and that sincerity can take you to moksha. The fruit of sincerity is morality. Once you start moving a little on the path of sincerity, you can become moral. Once a person became completely moral, he becomes ready to attain the state of Parmatma—the Absolute Self, so sincerity is the first prerequisite, morality comes later on. At least for once, become sincere. The number of things you are sincere to, you win over that, and the number of things that you remain insincere to, you have yet to win them. Once you become sincere everywhere, you have won everything! You have to win over this world; if you win the world then you can attain moksha. No one will let you go to moksha without winning over the world. Definition of sincerity and morality The basement of entire world is only these two things sincerity and morality. If these two become rotten then everything will tumble over. In this current time cycle sincerity and morality is considered the greatest wealth. India had plenty of this wealth in past, but now these people have exported it to foreign countries, and do you know what they imported in exchange? These ghosts of etiquettes have invaded, and due to that these poor people do not have any peace. Why do we need that ghost of etiquette? This is for the person who does not have noor—aura of brilliance, luster; we are the people of tirthankari noor, we are the progeny of rishimuni (sages with great spiritual power and saints). Even if you were to wear a torn cloth, your noor will tell them who you are. Questioner : Please explain the exact meaning of sincerity and morality. 5

Dadashri : What is the meaning of morality? You have right to enjoy that which is rightfully yours and whatever comes naturally to you. This is the ultimate meaning of morality. Morality is a very profound matter. Scriptures and scriptures can be written on this. But you just comprehend from this last meaning. And with reference to sincerity, the one who does not remain sincere to another person, cannot remain sincere to his self. One should not be insincere to anyone else even a bit, that is what breaks one’s sincerity. Awareness of the sexual vision The heart (deepest inclination) is in either of two places. Either it is involved in this side (satsang) or it is absorbed in the other side (kusang—company of non-spiritual people). If it leaves here, it gets involved in that—sexual inclinations. One does not have to wait for it to happen. Therefore one must be very vigilant. It can only engage there if we let go of it from here, no? And before it—the chit—gets stuck there, it is critical to become alert in advance. One must not initiate the sexual link through eye contact under any circumstance. One should walk with eyes cast down. In the current era of this time cycle you need to watch over the eyes. Beware, still there is time, beware, in these bad times. The vision should remain absolutely pure. Do not miss this pratikraman (recall of error, apology coupled with remorse and decision never to repeat the error) even for a minute. You may eat and drink whatever you like, that will be tolerated, but how can you look into someone’s eyes like that (with sexual intent or impulse)? This is the major disease in this sansar— worldly life, the worldly life perpetuates because of this. The worldly life exists on the foundation of vishaya—sex. Vishaya is verily the origin. 6

Every one does not like vishaya, but this is the account from previous life and once you made an eye contact—sexual look, then the account takes new life and begins. Thereafter it will not leave you free. It is not that all these women attract you, the one who attracts you it is the account of your past life. Therefore uproot and throw it (sexual impulses) out and clear the account. After Gnan, there is not any other problem except sex. Therefore I caution you against sex. Just commencing a sexual link through looking is the fault and especially after understanding this, if it happens then severe liability is incurred. Therefore do not begin this sexual link with anyone. Everything gets ruined due to this sexual link only. The attraction and pulling does not happen all of sudden; it happens only if there was an account laid from previous life. The original vision—mooda drashti—the vision of the Self does not become spoilt, only the vision that was spoiled spoils. To see as Shuddhatma With relation to a woman the first thing happens is that the vision becomes sexual— the ‘eye’ becomes spoiled. Once the vision becomes sexual then it progresses further. Nothing happens to the one whose ‘eye does not become spoiled’—the inner sexual look does not happen, there is no inner movement in the sexual sphere—vikaar. Now if you want to have your safe side then you must not look ‘sexually’ at a woman, and if you do, then do pratikraman. Questioner : What are the results of that sexual vision? Dadashri : Downfall, the world of lower life form—adhogati. In such a state one thinks of ‘tea’—sexual pleasure all day long. Seeing ‘tea’—the object of sexual gratification, would he refrain from drinking it? The non-spoiling January 2007

vision—the purity of the ‘eye’ is considered the highest of all virtuous qualities. The Lord had said that eat everything in this world but do not look into human eye, and do not keep staring on the face. If you see, then do with common intent; do not look with intent of any sexual nature. If you see these mangoes, inspect them and then leave them alone—ignore them, they will stay put; but this living creature—female, will stick to you, and if you will leave it on side—ignore it having tasted it—it will enforce its claim. At a wedding reception, does the person who welcomes the guests stare at all the guests he is welcoming? No. One enters, and passes on, and so on, and thus he will look at everyone with natural—general intent as they pass by; you need to see this way. Before Gnan I had decided the same thing, to see only with common intent. It would have been better if all these people were not around, no? Then there would be no spoiling of our bhaav—inner intent, no? Questioner : No, such intents are within us only, that is why the instrumental evidence— nimit—the other person meets us. So we should destroy our own intent, then the nimit will not cling on to us, no? Dadashri : Truly stated. That is why ‘we’ are telling you to avoid the sleep that veils Your awareness of the Self—bhaavnindra (‘I am Chandulal’). These worldly people are such that they will provoke all kinds of lures that will pull You away from the Self (Dadashri is addressing those who have taken Gnan and have attained the Self), and amidst all these, one must not become ‘Chandulal’— bhaavnindra. The body may fall asleep— dehanindra, but You are not to fall asleep— bhaavnindra. Questioner : But bhaavnindra—the January 2007

sleep that veils Gnan—takes over, no? Dadashri : How can that be tolerated? If this train was fast approaching in front of you, there you do not dose off in such sleep. The train brings death for only one life whereas this is the risk for infinite life times. This world is such that can create strange intentions of unimaginable types, and within that you are to get the gist of it yourself. Does any sleep veil You—bhaavnindra? The world will latch on to you if You—the awakened one in Akram Vignan—dose off in such sleep. Now, from here on if you dose off, get attracted to or become tempted sexually with a certain person, you have to ask for energy of brahmacharya— absolute freedom from all sexual inclinations and impulses—from the pure Soul of that person, by saying, ‘O pure Soul Lord! Grant me the energies to maintain brahmacharya with the entire world.’ It is very good if you ask for strength from ‘Dada’ but it is best to ask directly from the pure Soul of the person with whom the interaction—vyavahaar (overt or covert) has happened. Questioner : What should I do if a beautiful woman is ‘seen’ even if I had no intention to? Dadashri : You should not make an eye contact at that moment. Questioner : What should I do if the eyes meet sexually? Dadashri : Wash it off and become clean with the help of pratikraman. You must do pratikraman as soon as sexuality arises through the meeting of the eyes. That is why it has been said not to place a photograph or a statue of a beautiful woman. Sexual Transactions by The Sexual Look These days everything has become like an open market of sex, has it not? At the end 7

of the day it may seem that you have not done any trading in sex, but this is not so. However, you may have unknowingly made, as many as twelve such deals by just ‘looking’ at them. Such transactions occur just by merely looking (sexually)! This would not happen if ‘our’ Gnan were present. You will ‘see’ the pure Soul within a woman passing by, but how can others (the one who has not taken Gnan) ‘see’ that? Now, does any trading happen to you by just looking? It does not happen, no? And before Gnan how many trades were being made till the end of the day? Questioner : Ten to fifteen would be done. Dadashri : And what if you attend someone’s wedding? If you have gone to somebody’s wedding, do you not see a lot that lures and entices? Would not a hundred deals (subtle internal sexual exchanges) be done? That is how it is all. It is not your fault. This happens to each and every being who is human. This is because when one sees anything that is attractive, one is pulled there indeed. That is so, for both, the men and the women. A transaction is made as soon as anything attractive is seen. Do we not buy and bring home the vegetables that are attractive in the market at the end of the day? Does one not buy them, even if he does not want them? He will say, ‘I saw some good vegetables so I brought them!’ People buy fine-looking mangoes, do they not? What if it is good looking? Once they see a good looking (mango—female), do they not make a trade? Later when they taste it (her) and it turns out to be sour, they will say, the money was wasted. This is how the world is!! These are only the flashes of the eye! The eye sees the thing and chit wanders there and gets engrossed! Where is the fault of eye in this? Who is at fault in this? 8

Questioner : The mind is at fault? Dadashri : How is the mind even, at fault in this? It is your fault that you were weak—unvigilant, and that is why the mind took over. The fault is only yours. In the past we had some boundaries; that it was wrong to look sexually at a sister, a cousin, or a relative of ours. But nowadays people have no such boundaries do they? They employ the sexual look at any man or woman, no? This all is called beastliness! Should not there be some discriminating boundary—vivek? The vision should not be distracted by a bit even. If sexual impulses arise towards anyone—one’s inner vision is pulled towards that individual, then pratikraman has to be done the entire day. How big a seed must have been sown, that the pulling is happening with such frequency! Analysis of sexual attraction Do you like to steal? Do you like to speak a lie? Do you like to kill? Then, do you like parigraha—acquisitiveness? All right then what is there in sex that one likes it? Questioner : I do not like it at all and yet the attraction remains. I continue to experience remorse about it. Dadashri : If there is remorse, then it will go away. How can sexuality remain if you see only the Soul of the person? Sexuality arises when you see all the rest except the Self. Do you know how to analyze sexuality? Questioner : Please tell me, Dada. Dadashri : Analyzing the sexual event means, do the eyes like it? Do the ears like it when they hear it? And does it taste sweet if the tongue licks it? None of the senses like it. The nose must really like it right? Oh, it will smell good, right? Would have spray perfume, no? Therefore when you analyze this way you January 2007

will realize that hell exists there. But without this analysis people are confused. Isn’t it a wonder that the world is so enamored with sex? Questioner : Then why does the attraction remain? Dadashri : It is because of lack of understanding. The attraction to sex continues because the old link of misunderstanding, the nature of sex still remains. But now you have understood that sex is like this! In the past you had not done such an analysis and known the real nature of sexuality. You believed what the people believed to be the right path, but now you have awakened and realized the hollowness in sexuality. In sexuality oh! ho! ho!, there lie myriads of dangers ! The entire worldly life wanderings exist on its basis and the entire day’s beatings also is taken on account of it. It would have been fine, if the individual sensory organs liked it, but none of the sensory organs—indriyas like sexuality at all. Questioner : The chit still keeps wandering out and being pulled by it. The vision is also tainted by the sexual impulse while looking. Dadashri : How do you look if she is your sister? Questioner : Nothing happens there. Dadashri : Why, she is also a woman, isn’t she? Why you do not feel sexual pull over there? Why the sexual thoughts do not arise for your sister? Your sister is not a woman? Questioner : Is it because of the effect of subatomic particles of karma—parmanoos? Dadashri : One feels sexual impulses where one has made the intent (in previous life). One has never had a sexual intent with January 2007

the sister and therefore, his vision towards his sister remains untainted and clean. And there are some individuals who have made the sexual intent with their sister and for them now they experience sexual feelings while looking at their sister! Questioner : In the daily worldly interactions, when the event of meeting women happens, the visual contact does happen spontaneously. Dadashri : It is a natural thing to look at a woman. Within such events lies the fault of past life. But now what should you do? The vision falls on her; you cannot do anything about that. No matter how hard you try to hold on to that even the nature of the eye is to look, it will not stay without looking. It is the account, so will not stay without looking. Questioner : This happens two to four times a day, but I feel it is not right. Dadashri : He—Chandulal, the relative self and You—the Self are separate; are You not? And he will not change. What can happen if we try to change the one who is firm? But with this pratikraman, day-by-day change happens, does it not? Questioner : Yes. Stability increases on that side. One feels that pleasure due to unawareness Dadashri : Now do you feel any sense of pleasure anywhere? Questioner : I do feel the pleasure, but I understand that it is a dangerous risk. Dadashri : It may seem dangerous but as long as one feels the pleasure in it, there will come a time when it will make one forget that it is a grave danger and liability. Such karma can come in to effect that will make 9

you forget the liability. And I do not understand on what basis one feels pleasure in this. Which part is pleasant in this? Questioner : Does one feel the pleasure due to the illusion? Dadashri : It would have been good if it was pleasant due to illusion, but this is not even the illusion. Who will call this a pleasure? In this Mumbai, if such a shortage of water happens that people will not get a chance to take a shower, then what would be the condition of these people? Everybody cannot sit in one room, how they would stink? These people take shower everyday, yet they stink, no? And if they do not take shower then their stench will explode your head. When they take shower in the morning and if you were to rub a towel on the body at 2 in the afternoon, and squeeze it, the water will turn salty. Despite all that, why is this body is considered precious? Because the Lord has manifest within. That is why this body is considered more precious than all the others (non-human beings). People however, have valued this body in a very different way. Questioner : It is believed that sex gives the highest pleasure. On what grounds is this based? Dadashri : The reason why one feels the pleasure in sex is because one has not experienced pleasure anywhere else. If one were really look at it, there is the most filth in sexuality than anything else, but because of the pleasure he loses his awareness. So he does not realize this. If one understands that sexuality with its entire ramification is a garbage disposal site—gandwado then all its pleasure would dissipate. The world is trapped in tantalizing sexual pleasures only. As soon as any tingling 10

enticement and tantalizing commences, apply the Gnan there instantly, and with that everything will appear separate and distinct and thus You will be freed. Freedom from sexual impulses through ‘Three Vision’ Use the same experiment that I had used for myself. For me this experiment is constantly in place and it had kept me aware even before enlightenment. When my eyes fall on someone wearing beautiful clothes, a sari worth two thousand rupees, I become aware and my first vision see her without clothes. Then a second awareness arises and I see the body without the skin and then the third awareness arises and I see the intestines, the kind you see when the stomach is cut open. I can also see changes that occur within the intestines. I can see blood vessels; I can see fecal matter etc. I can see all the refuse this way. Then there is no chance of sexual impulse arising, is there? In all this, the Soul is the only pure thing and that is where my vision stops. Therefore how can any illusion over sex ever occur? People cannot see such a thing across, no? People do not have such vision, do they? From where can they bring such awareness too? If one can see such thing, it is the top most jagruti—awakened awareness. At a time all these three kinds of awareness are there. I am telling you about the awareness what I had. The way I have conquered, I show you the same way to conquer sex to all of you. There should be the way, no? And that can never happen without awareness, no? This current era of the time cycle is such a strange one, in the past they were not putting on lipstick and powder on their face. Nowadays such cosmetics and things are used that cause so much attraction, and a new market of illusion has been created. In past January 2007

they would have healthy and beautiful body and such artificial aids to increase the illusion were absent. Nowadays this is sheer an illusionary sex market only, isn’t it? So that even an ugly person looks beautiful, but what is there to see in this? This is sheer garbage dump yard only. So awareness is my state, incredible awareness! Our Gnan is with awareness— jagruti, and if the light needs to be shed on anything at a time, it can be done! Now if during those moments (of sexual enticement) this awakened awareness is not used, then one would be defeated and lose it all. One may try a lot to see the Self—Shuddhatma in her, but it will not let the vision become still— non-sexual and therefore, such focused awareness—upayoga—of three visions is necessary. I had set such experiment of awareness before Gnan—Dadashri’s spontaneous enlightenment in 1958, otherwise this illusionary sex market would kill one in this current time cycle. By looking at woman only this disease arises, no? Now is she not married? They may be married yet they entice! Because this era of the current time cycle is such! Will you remember this ‘three vision’ or will you forget? Questioner : In spite of having a firm decision, I feel the pull and attraction towards some women repeatedly and in spite of knowing ‘three vision’ (the experiment of awareness against sexual vision) why do not I see it ‘as it is’? Dadashri : You have not ‘known’— experienced that ‘three vision’, if one knows ‘three vision’ then he will not experience sexual pull at all. If one sees the three visions— described above—then he will not meddle in that. Thereafter, if there has been any sexual look, he sees it again (with three vision). January 2007

Questioner : I cannot see through ‘three vision’, is it because of illusion—moha? Dadashri : You definitely do not know, what is ‘three vision’. Because of illusion you will not be awake, and illusion means unconsciousness—unawareness. Questioner : So now what is the solution so that three vision becomes possible for me? Dadashri : It is not going to be seen. So why try to find a solution for it? The one who is able to see with the ‘three vision’ is a very different kind, such a person is uniquely extraordinary and outstanding—aflatoon. In this current time cycle a human being cannot maintain that much vairaag—dispassion. That is why this ‘three vision’ is a very lofty and valuable tool; with it dispassion will be maintained. ‘We’ had done such experiment at a younger age. The discovery came about that this—sexuality is verily the biggest of all diseases. Then with that awareness the experiment was done and later it became natural for ‘us’. ‘We’ can see everything effortlessly. You have to open the lid of a gutter two to four times, after that will you not know what is inside? Later when you encounter such a gutter, will you not know? At the most you can make a mistake two to four times, but afterwards you would remember, no? Questioner : That means this experiment of the ‘three vision’ need to be continuously done? Dadashri : No, it is just like that! This is just that one goes around dressed up with beautiful clothes so looks pretty; otherwise it is the same thing inside. Just because refuse is covered with beautiful silk cloth, one becomes deluded. If there is only flesh then no problem, but if you cut open intestine and everything 11

else then what will come out of from within? So no one has thought about this at all. If one had ever thought about this, then his vision will not go over there again. Man has imagined pleasure out of illusionary idiocy. He has imagined the pleasure because all others have done so, and that is how it is continued! Would you get married to a seventy to an eightyyear-old woman? Why not? Would her body parts attract you? Questioner : Is there any shortcuts that before even using experiment of ‘three vision’, one can see clear through and through? Dadashri : This is the only shortcut! The biggest shortcut is this only, no? As one proceeds by repeatedly practicing this ‘three vision’, he can see ‘as it is’, and then can become free from all impulses of sexuality. Except for this ‘three vision’, any short cut is to follow on the wrong path, otherwise if you want to get married, who says no to you? Get married at ease. Who has tied you? ‘We’ can see everything through and through. This Gnan is such that some time or other it will let you have such a vision. This is because, the One who has given you this Gnan, has such a vision; my vision is like this. That is to say that one gets the vision of the one who bestows the Gnan. How can one who sees everything through and through, be ever covered by any illusion—moha? Scientific speech creates vairaagya— dispassion This is ‘Akram Vignan’—step less scientific path of Self-realization. This is a magnificent science. When the world awakens to it, it will dance with joy! Have you developed dispassion— vairaag—towards woman (sex), or not? How long did it take? Right now, in the last fifteen 12

minutes? See how one becomes free from elements of sexuality with the help of Gnani’s powerful keys! If we restrain you from this side, it will enter from the other side and, then when will it end? ‘We’ will not keep a watch on anyone. Why should ‘we’ bother with that? ‘We’ would release—not mess with—the one who wants to roll around in this dump yard of garbage. Here around ‘us’ these young boys who practice brahmacharya remain so naturally and they preserve that state, continuously without even losing a moment. Eradicate the seedling of the sexual seed Eradicate the sexual thoughts immediately. Do Pratikraman for any attraction of a sexual nature. The one who latches on to these two words you (weapons, keys) will be able to maintain brahmacharya forever. If you think that an attraction of a sexual nature or sexual impulse—vikaar has happened, do pratikraman immediately and if a sapling of any sexual thought or sexual impulse sprouts within, then eradicate and throw it out immediately. If one follows these two, then he will not have any problem. Questioner : But can jagruti— awakened awareness as the Self—and these two—subtle attraction and thought—remain at a time? Dadashri : No, this can only happen if there is jagruti—awareness, otherwise it cannot happen, no? When this sapling of sexuality grows within, instantly You should know that it is of poison ivy. Therefore it is best to eradicate it when it is a mere sapling, otherwise it will cling on to you and that poison will burn your whole body. So eradicate and throw it away such a way that will not grow again. Similarly January 2007

do not let any thoughts of this non-Self complex presenting as a worldly being that attracts you— mishrachetan—take hold. Weed them out aggressively, then only there will be a solution. If not, if a single sapling of this thought took hold and grew, then it will ruin so many future life times! The Lord has instructed to weed out and eradicate the sapling of sexuality only. The other saplings will not create any problems if they were to grow. The sapling of the mishrachetan (sexual impulse with another human being within) is a grave danger and liability. This has been the studied practice— abhyas of a human being from time immemorial; therefore the mind will tend to go back there and delve on it again and again—manan, chintavan—then the sapling of sexuality will grow again. Then again the sapling of vishaya will grow. When we water this mug (tiny dark green lentils) they will sprout tiny roots below, and from that moment we know that it will grow into a sapling. Likewise, eradicate and throw away sexual thoughts immediately. The sapling of sex is the only one that if it becomes a little bigger, then it will not leave. Hence it needs to be pulled out from the very roots when it sprouts as a sapling.

any problem with that. Marriage means it is a matter to settle (an account to be taken care of from past life). Otherwise You have to maintain awareness. Until now there was total unawareness only. And now within that, one has to arise in awakened awareness. If there are 108 lamps, twelve have been lit. Now th th keep lighting the 13 , 14 , and so on.

Awareness against sexuality

Dadashri : Yes, even if you tell Him, do pratikraman. If he eats a pepper, does it mean that the Gnani has to take poison for that?

Now, if such awakened awareness— jagruti remains then one can see it as it is— aarpaar; if not, then it is sheer spiritual slumber. This is flesh covered by silky cloth—skin. The garbage of the entire world is dumped within this outer sheet, yet how is one deluded by this covering! Why does this illusion arise? It arises due to lack of jagruti—awareness. And later (after the sexual interaction) one feels the remorse, no? What is remorse? Repentance, repentance means it will keep stinging inside. How wonderful would it be if you had the awareness instead! If you cannot maintain this awareness then get married. ‘We’ do not have January 2007

Questioner : In spite of being awakened and aware, the non-Self got pulled into sexuality, and there ‘I’—mahatma—could not do anything. Now what is to be done? How big a fault has been incurred? Dadashri : Definitely it is a fault, no? If a doctor told you not to eat chili pepper and you eat it nonetheless, then what can happen? But there will not be that many foolish ones like this, may be a few and since the chili pepper was eaten the disease will grow. Questioner : But now what should I do? There has to be solution, no? Dadashri : Do pratikraman, what else? Questioner : But do not I need to tell the Gnani? The one who has given Agna (of brahmacharya), I will have to tell him, no?

Be aware against the horrible disease of sexuality The day the thoughts of sexual nature arose, and if it took a while to eradicate them then you have to do a little bigger pratikraman. Immediately eradicate and throw it out, because this sexuality and its impulses— vishaya-vikaar is such that if you are lax for even a second; it will not take any time to grow into a tree of sex. So once it sprouts eradicate and throw it out instantly. This is 13

akin to removing the odd sapling of tobacco plant right away, when you intend to grow a field of wheat. Likewise in this also the sexual impulses must be uprooted. Questioner : The ignorance of vishaya—sex, what is that? Dadashri : What has been sown in the garden, when it sprouts then you will know that these are coriander leaves, these are fenugreek-methi leaves, you would know from the sapling, would you not? It is just like that for the sexual seed, it is best to eradicate it when it is a mere sapling. When the seeds that have fallen (in the past life) are eradicated as they sprout (in this life), then whatever sexuality there is, is not considered vishaya—sex at all. Let the tree be there if there is one. Let it rain, if it does. Say for instance there is a jujube—bor tree. It’s seed may sprout a furlong ahead, the wind can drag a seed anywhere, so not only the seeds fallen under the jujube tree but also those that have sprouted around the tree and the ones that have been carried far along and are sprouting, will need to be eradicated. What is a seed? When other circumstances—evidences come together, then if the seed falls, then it will sprout, and so as soon as it sprouts, it needs to be eradicated. Two kinds of vishaya—sexuality; one is charge (causal, creates for the next life) and other is discharge (effect, evident in this life). Cleanse the charge seed. Ideally, a sexual thought should not arise. The Gnani Purush does not have any thought about money or vishaya, so where is the question about sowing or sprouting any seed? If the thoughts of sex arise in your mind then eradicate them, so then those thoughts will not grow. Eradicate them one by one, thus. This is Akram Gnan, which has made ignorance leave; but the stock— 14

karmic account from past life remains to unfold yet, and that is why the caution is necessary. It is in the nature of the sexual seed to fall and sprout endlessly. The eyes see all kinds of things and hence seeds are sown within. These internal seeds have to be uprooted. When one sees a hotel—restaurant, then one would have the desire to eat, no? That is what the sexual seed is like. We have to be vigilant since we want to attain moksha. If there is any inner attraction by seeing through the eyes, then know that a horrible disease exists. As long as they are in the form of seeds, one has a chance for a cure; once they sprout there is no cure. A key for the one who is entangled in worldly maze Questioner : I have to travel a lot around for the business and that is why sexual thoughts annoy me. Dadashri : Yes, but during those circumstances you have to be careful, if it (sexual thoughts) tries to take over then do not let it happen. It (vishaya) is neutral and You are Purush—Self-realized, Purush means the Self. Neutral can never win over Purush— the Self. What is the reason for not having thoughts of eating meat if you go to a meat shop? You have not filled that stock (in past life). So can you not understand that, that which was filled is now squirming to come out? Is this much understood or not? Questioner : That is correct. But when lots of thoughts of sex arise, then I feel somewhat overwhelmed and discouraged that, what such hellish garbage is coming out. Dadashri : If people are screaming outside, and if you sit inside with doors closed, then is there any problem? You should not have any interaction—vyavahaar with it—the January 2007

thoughts; then You will be able to remain unaffected. That hurricane will come and leave. Does the hurricane come everyday? Two days at the most. If it hovers around for an entire day, even then it can be dispelled. All these other young men here also admit that. Would the hurricanes be sparing them? No. Now this young fellow here comes across so many such hurricanes—onslaught of sexual impulses and thoughts; but what can he do? Questioner : The thoughts arise in the mind that ‘Chandresh’—the non Self is enjoying sex, such scenes are seen and all kinds of photographic images are captured within. Then I do not like anything inside. Dadashri : It is all right that you do not like it. Chandresh—‘Chandulal’ does not like them, no? That is not happening to You—the Self, no? ‘You’ are separate in this, no? Vishaya—one’s involvement in anything sexual—must not be there. All other mistakes will be tolerated except for this. Questioner : A thought does arise that I am getting interested in it, and hence there must be a deceptive intent behind it. The interest is due to the deception in the inner intent. Dadashri : You have brought such stock that makes you feel interested. You would know that. Oh ho! He—the non-Self complex—Chandulal feels interest in this? So You should tell him, ‘enjoy yourself, get married too, who says not to?’ The Self has no interest in this at all; the one who has interest is the eater, had you seen the eater? If he eats more then also he becomes unhappy and then he takes up fasting, again he is the same eater! Questioner : Then the thoughts arise that is it a weakness in the pledge—nischaya January 2007

of brahmacharya—or is it the deceptive intent that makes such a thing happen. Dadashri : No, that is the stored stock and it is the time now. The surrounding circumstances are such that it erupts. Questioner : In the past the situation was such that if I go out of the company of brahmacharis—those who have vowed to be and remain free from sexuality in thoughts, speech and acts—, then I cannot preserve brahmacharya at all. If I stay little bit out of this company or stay alone at home then all the sexual thoughts overwhelm me all over. Dadashri : If the thoughts overwhelm, what is it to You? You are the ‘seer’ of them! Why are you not sticking your hand in a burning bonfire? Isn’t it wrong to see the fault of that bonfire? If You stick Your hand in it— interfere, then it is called a fault. All kind of thoughts would arise. Say for instance the mosquitoes are flying all over you and if you swing your arms to avoid them your arms will ache. And this is the nature’s hand—way and it can never produce any pain. If You say, ‘I will not let any mosquitoes ‘touch’—none of these sexual thoughts touch ‘me—the Self’, then that will happen internally.’ If you resolve then how beautifully you can practice brahmacharya! Eventually became free ‘We’ had made deep inner intent—bhaav from so many life times. Consequently, ‘we’ had a strong aversion towards sex, and thus eventually ‘we’ became free. ‘We’ did not like sex from its very root. But then, what to do? How to become free? ‘Our’ drashti— vision was very deep, ‘our’ thoughts were very elevated and involved, and if ‘we’ saw someone passing by wearing any kind of beautiful clothes, ‘we’ could immediately see 15

everything through and through. So then raag— attachment would not arise, no? The other thing that happened is that bliss of the Self was attained. When you drink tea after eating jalebi (round deep fried syrupy sweet delicacy) you will find the tea tasteless. The one, who attains the bliss of the Self, will find all sensual pleasures bland. Do you not find them bland? The relish and the taste of the past are no longer there for you, no? Questioner : It feels tasteless, but again that moha—illusion over sex arises. Dadashri : Moha will occur. That is the effect of past karma. The karmas have been charged (in past life), and they will create the illusion—moha. But in a way do you feel that the true happiness is in the Self? Questioner : Yes, I feel that is the true happiness. The fact that happiness does not exist in vishaya—sex, is understood definitely. Dadashri : If you see another woman, the thoughts (of sexual nature) do not arise, do they? Questioner : Some times thoughts do arise. Dadashri : It happens then it means that there is still a weakness. Questioner : Just slight temptationillusion arises, nothing else. Dadashri : That much temptation— moha will definitely drag you into it (sexuality), will it not? It is very difficult to conquer sexuality. With this Gnan of ‘ours’ it is possible. The eternal bliss of this Gnan makes it possible. Make an effort to break the sexual link If one attains Gnan then one can understand that there is nothing in vishaya. Questioner : After attaining Gnan from you, can we completely get rid of the seeds of 16

sex right away in this life? Dadashri : Everything can be done. No new seeds are sown for the next life. Wash away the old seeds that already exist; and new seeds will not be sown. Questioner : Does that mean that we will not have any thoughts of sex, in the next life? Dadashri : No, you will not. If a few were left from the past then those thoughts will come but they would be of no consequence. There is no danger where there are no pending accounts. If the link continues then it is risky. A human will have thought of vishaya about people staying around him, but that would dissipate since there is no link. The slightest meditation of sex will defile and taint gnan—worldly knowledge. ‘Hato bhrastha, tato bhrastha—was corrupted and became corrupted.’ If one meditates on jalebi—tasty food—then such thing cannot happen, but if one meditates on the sexual organ—yoni then he goes back to yoni—place of creation, the womb. Eradicate the propensity for the sex from the root Questioner : Why we do not understand that the ruchi—propensity to delve in sexual sweetness is still laying there? Dadashri : You cannot understand that means you are slow to understand this. Questioner : But normally it seems that I do not want to enjoy the sex at all. Dadashri : You may think that, but that is all in the words only. The ruchi that exists within has not been eliminated yet. You will understand that gradually. The one who is developed, he would understand. Questioner : Kshatriya (member of the January 2007

warrior class) cannot exhibit aggressiveness against vishaya?

Questioner : How can one become stabilized?

Dadashri : Yes, they can. But it is very hard to bring aggressiveness in vishaya. If there was a kshatriyapanu, then they would ask to eradicate sexuality, but this vishaya—objects of enjoyment; is the subject of understanding. By thinking very critically sexuality can be eliminated altogether. That is why I have shown you this ‘three vision’ to become free from the sex, no? Then one cannot have attachment, can one? Otherwise if one sees a woman wearing beautiful jewelry and beautiful clothes, he will forget everything and illusion (of sex) will arise.

Dadashri : Here at this place go across that road (construction of the road) and ask him. The way they are doing, you also do the same way. They are rolling a roller after spreading metal pebbles; they will see that the road becomes hard and stable.

Questioner : Still there is ruchi—sexual impulse for the sex inside, even though I cannot understand that do I have ruchi or not? Dadashri : It is good that at least you knew this much. Questioner : Interest arises in vishayo— five sense pleasures so the tendencies are there, so does interest arise on the basis of this? Dadashri : Yes, if there is no ruchi, then there is nothing. How can you feel tempted for the sex on something such disgusting? If a man was touching whole body of a woman everyday, now she got burned and forms a blister and then this blister is oozing out with pus, at that time if she asks that man, ‘help me to clean this hand’, then what will he say? Questioner : He will refuse to touch her hand. Dadashri : Now that desire was there, now after looking at this he will feel disgusting, won’t he! That inclination will not arise again. But one has to remain firm in this. What happens once she becomes cure, one becomes same as before (aversion remains temporary), it should not be like that. One should become stabilized. Questioner : But which roller should I roll? Dadashri : With that roller, get rid of the faults by doing pratikraman repeatedly. Brahmacharya is the worldly conduct One who became strong in brahmacharya, so he will be able to win the world. To win over the world only thing is necessary for one to have strong brahmacharya—worldly conduct. If he is wearing any kind of clothes, there is no harm. Vyavahaar Charitra—worldly conduct and clothes do not have any concern. In the matter of the clothes there is one opinion that they should not wear any cloth, there is one another opinion is that they should wrap a white piece of cloth. But if you wear coat and pants, there is no problem. These are all the opinions in the worldly interaction. The food is not the thing that creates illusion. Even a reputed person, when he eats jalebi he feels sweet, will he not? Therefore if you conquered only brahmacharya—‘charitra’, you conquered the whole world. Otherwise, eat and drink; I do not have any problem with that. No one will take objection if you eat more or less, no? If you use perfume, will anyone oppose you? And if you grow such a long mustache, or grow whiskers, the world will not take objection. The world will take objection only where there is objection. There is a grave consequence of illicit sex; it can throw you in terrible world of lower life form!!! The world 17

is like a mirror it shows our image. The one who gives us suggestion, he is our mirror. In reality, there is no happiness in sex at all. The gratification that people have believed in sex is the wrong belief of the wrong belief. One feels indulgence to eat jalebi. Now if someone does not like jalebi then he might like shrikhand (sweet milk product), so these delicious food makes one feel happy. However this gratification in sex is like scratching an eczematous lesion. It is not a thing, although one feels pleasure in that, does not one? So sex is the wrong belief of wrong belief. And that again went on and on in this world. No one has true understanding, no! I am explaining about brahmacharya to all these people, because the path of liberation is sustained on the foundation of conduct. You can eat and drink anything you like, there is no harm in that. Only thing is do not drink alcohol and do not eat meat. Everything else you can eat bhajia (deep fried nuggets) – jalebi if you want to, I will get you solution for that. In spite of giving all these freedom, you cannot remain in my Agna, then what can happen? Krupadudev had said up to that extent that; give up your favorite plate of meal to other person. At this place what I have asked you to do is do what makes you feel peaceful. Do not give up your favorite plate of meal to other person, eat at ease. Keep strong foundation of brahmacharya. That is the only main thing to attain the liberation. Strictness towards ‘File’ Questioner : At certain time I cannot maintain that understanding. Dadashri : Our force for opposition breaks, then that understanding dissipates. Once your decision becomes weak, you will lose your understanding. Our firm decision can preserve this. Otherwise poor thing pudgal— 18

body complex is not like that. Pudgal does not have good or bad thing. If you say, ‘It is very good thing, good thing, it is a good thing,’ then it will push you. And if you say, ‘it is bad, it is bad’ then it will stop. When the file (karmic account of past life with a person) to which you are attracted approaches, your mind becomes restless. At that time the mind becomes restless and you feel miserable. This person’s mind became restless. That is why I had the stern look in my eyes. When the file approaches, everything becomes restless within. It goes up and down as soon as you think about her or him. It is nothing but garbage inside. The only thing that is valuable inside is the Soul. It is very dangerous if you remember a file in her absence. If the file is not present you do not remember her, but then as soon as that file comes and if it affects you, then it is called a secondary danger. You should not let this affect you. It is important to be independent. At that time you lose your reins and then you would not have any control, would you? The solution to become free Questioner : What should we do if we realize that the other person is not a file for us but we are a file for her? Dadashri : Then you should get rid of it even sooner. You should stay firm. Then she will stop making plans. If this doesn’t work then you can even talk something crazy. You can say that, ‘If you come before me then I will slap you. You will not find anyone crazier than me.’ This way the file would not come again. This is the only way to get rid of her. Questioner : I can handle to speak such crazy things. Dadashri : Yes. You can speak such stern words better and I have to teach all January 2007

these people. You know naturally. The way of becoming free from the ‘file’ that attracts you Questioner : (If I come in contact with a person and feel the attraction towards her) We have to get rid of these sexual impulses with employing powerful ego. Dadashri : Yes. We can take care (cure) of this ego later on. But that disease (sex) where one feels like to revolt, at that time you need to keep under restrain. I would know that if one has deceptive intent, he will be nice and sweet with her. Questioner : What can I do to improve where I have deceptive intent? What is the solution for that? Is that to make firm resolution? Dadashri : A person who ruins your life, you should have feeling of hatred and contempt only. If she comes in front of you, then she will be fearful, and she will know that you have become stern. Once you become stern she will not touch you. Then she will look for someone else. Questioner : After Your Gnan I realize that with this person I am such stern or such gentle. Dadashri : Yes. But to remain gentle is a loophole. I would know everything that this is a loophole. Questioner : My speech has never come out with anger with a person who I am gentle to. With others I get extremely mad and angry. You are absolutely right. Dadashri : Intent is deceptive. I would know right away, no! Outside absolutely calm and cool! Qestioner: I still do not understand what you are saying. January 2007

Dadashri : I do know that too, don’t I! I would not credit this! No matter how strongly you give us promise, I would not credit this. When would I credit? I would when I see such behavior. Questioner : It has become a serious disease. I have false over confidence on my self. Dadashri : There is no understanding as such of any kind. No awareness for the self or for others. Questioner : When I create scorn towards a file, then internally I feel that she may misunderstand me. Dadashri : She should misunderstand you. She should think that you are crazy. You need to break this (sexual impulses) off by any means, we can cure this later on. There is a cure for the one who is bound with revenge. Questioner : Until he is captivated at one place, other energy does not manifest. Dadashri : This is sweet poison; it is poison and again is sweet! When the ‘file’ comes, you must remain stern towards her, then ‘file’ will tremble! You can let her have secretly, ‘useless fellow’, so she will keep revenge, there is no problem even if she gets mad at you. Once she gets annoyed, attachment will leave, infatuation will dissipate. And she will also understand that I do not have any chance with him again. Otherwise she will look for another chance. Take care of all these, now. The moment file approaches, you should feel bitterness like a poison in your mind. Where did she come from? This is just deceptive intent! You need to be aware for this much only. Eat and drink everything else, am I saying no to you? 19

None except the Gnani can touch I would give you whatever you ask for, because Gnani Purush is akhand brahmachari—uninterrupted pure brahmacharya through the medium of thoughts, speech and acts. There has not been a thought of sexual nature for even a moment in the twenty-eight years that have passed since Gnan (1958). That is why women can touch my feet. Otherwise one cannot touch a woman. There are fifty thousand people in our group, but no one has been given that freedom to touch a woman. The nature of the touch is so risky. It is not that every one is going to be affected sexually by touching, nonetheless, as far as possible; one should not meddle in this thing of touching. I am allowed, because I would not be in any gender, sex; masculine or feminine. My existence is beyond any gender, sex. Men and women should avoid touching each other. Therein lies tremendous danger. Until one has become purna—established in absolute brahmacharya—one should not touch or else the ‘entry’ of a single subatomic particle—parmanu—of vishaya—sex can ruin many a life times. ‘We’ (the Gnani) have no parmanu of sexuality at all. Pratikraman should be done immediately, if even one atom gets corrupted. Pratikraman prevents any sexual intent arising in the other person. No one has right to touch a woman, because if one touches a woman the effect of the parmanu will definitely arise. The slightest touching initiated on your part to a woman who is not rightfully yours—married— necessitates a pratikraman for an hour. Women can do vidhi by touching the feet of only a ‘Gnani Purush’. ‘Gnani Purush’ has eradicated and thrown out all the seeds of sexuality. A single seed of sexuality does not exist in ‘Gnani 20

Purush’. Who has right to touch? The one who has crossed the ninth spiritual stage on the path of absolute enlightenment— gunasthanak—may do so, because at that level there will be no thought of a sexual nature. Those thoughts have ceased. Once that happens, the thoughts that arise in mind will be of a higher spiritual order, and all inner energies rise higher only. After this Gnan ‘we’ (Gnani Purush) have not had a single thought about sex. The one whose mind becomes totally free form sexuality, finds that very mind tremendously strengthened in all aspects and accordance that upholds and maintains Gnan. That is why women can do vidhi by touching ‘our—the Gnani’s’ feet, no? But no one else is allowed to touch a woman and even women are not allowed to touch anyone, must not touch. Sexual thought arises before even they (worldly people, the one who has not taken Gnan) touch a woman. ‘We’ can see through the ‘three vision’ everything through and through, within a second. With such lofty vision of ours, where is the possibility of any disease of sexuality to arise? ‘We’ do not have raag—attachment for pudgal—integrating and disintegrating matter, the non-Self. ‘We’ do not have attachment for ‘our’ pudgal—that which the world sees as A.M.Patel. ‘I’ stay absolutely separate from the pudgal. The one—the inner self—who has attachment for one’s own pudgal, will be prone to have attachment for the pudgal—body complex—of others. One has enjoyed— bhogavyoo—this very same (pudgal—non-Self matter) for endless lives, and yet one is so bound to it. That itself is a wonder, is it not? If one has become an opponent of sexual pleasure for many lives; if, with the unveiled (without the illusion) has thought very critically about the nature of sexual pleasure in many January 2007

previous lives, and has thus attained tremendous dispassion—vairaag, then its bondage will leave. When will dispassion arise? When one can see, ‘as it is’ within, then dispassion will arise. Sexual behavior: Will not be tolerated If any circumstance leading to sexual interaction occurs (to any of you) then our harsh vision will see it all and ‘we’ will know immediately. ‘Dada’ has a harsh vision against sexuality only, not in any other matter. ‘We’ are not stern and confrontational in any other matter. Other mistakes can occur but ‘this’ must never occur. And if this happens, then come and tell me ‘us’. ‘We’ will repair for you and make you free from it. Questioner : I have to come here to Dada to become free from every respect. Dadashri : That is fine. That is why I have taken in writing from these Aptaputras (young man trained by the Gnani for the work of salvation of the world, a male brahmachari), that nobody else has to tell me to leave; I will walk away (from this group of celibates) on my own. The one, to whom, a sexual interaction happened as a circumstantial event—sanyog, will become free form sexuality, automatically, after he experiences ‘our’ harsh vision. The radiant heat, the energy (of Dada’s harsh vision) only will make him quit. ‘We’ do not have to reprimand him. He will see so such resentment in ‘our’ eyes that he will not be able to sleep at night. That is the ‘heat’ of the soothing coolness—saumyata (of the Gnani Purush). The others (brahmacharis outside Akram Vignan) have the energy of their personality and its consequent impressive ‘heat’—prataap. They have the glow and radiance of their brahmacharya, along with the energy in their January 2007

actions and speech, too; but such heat plus the soothing coolness in association with all other energies—saumyata, does not exist anywhere else (It is only in the Gnani Purush). Now when these two, the quality of the sun (heat, prataap) and the moon (soothing coolness) come together, then the work (of salvation, accomplishing absolute brahmacharya) gets done. Yes there are human beings with the aura, heat and energy of their brilliance—prataap, but very few, in this dusham kal—the current era of the time cycle of abundant inner and outer turmoil. Questioner : And our Gnan is such that it cautions and bites from within. Dadashri : Yes, it will beat you from within. Questioner : So if even a minor error has happened (in matters of brahmacharya), then it will create much inner warning bells and alarms, yelling, this was missed (abrahmacharya, delving into sexuality), let me return and get back into my original state. Hence the Gnan pulls me back into the safety of its security. Dadashri : If the event arises that has the possibility of your losing (your brahmacharya) then should let me know. If one life passes without becoming tainted—with sexuality—then one is liberated, green signal. And if you get married then also there is no harm, there will not be any impediment to moksha—liberation. Questioner : If I touch someone willingly—following my desire, then is that considered sexuality in conduct? Dadashri : If you touch because of your desire? That is definitely part of the conduct, no? See what happens if you touch a burning coal with desire and will. 21

Questioner : I am convinced about what you are saying. Dadashri : The moment desire arises; you must uproot and throw it out. Can you not know from the sapling, which seed is sprouting? When it says (from within) that it is a sexual seed, eradicate and throw it out. If not, if you felt pleasure by touching, that means you are finished. That is not a life of a human being! So from now on, do everything after understanding the laws. If sexuality becomes evident in one’s conduct, ‘we’ close the doors for him, if not, this group of brahmacharis will collapse. There must not be any stench of sexuality in this group. So if any such thing has happened, tell me. If you marry then also there is solution, your moksha is not going to go away. I will get you the solution. The pleasure of touch is the fault of the belief that has been spoilt Questioner : You talked about the effect of touch, I do feel that pleasure, and that is my experience, so then what should I do? What is the way out? There is no happiness in touch, all this, he—the one (within) who has awakened—knows all these things, yet, when in effect and conduct when the touching happens, pleasure is experienced. Dadashri : That may be felt, but You— the awakened one—instantly gets rid of it, what does it have to do with You? That pleasure was experienced because that is the existing belief, otherwise, for someone other, it creates and effect of, ‘this is poison’, the moment the touch happens. So many men do not even touch this, they will not touch any woman, they feel as if, (touch pleasure) is poison. This is because this is what their bhaav—deepest inner state and intent (brahmacharya) was in the past life. The other one has filled such stock that he feels pleasure in touching (a 22

woman). Both had filled different kind of stock. That is why they feel different about this. One should not feel the pleasure or the bitterness in the touching. It should be a natural (sexless) touch, just as we touch other men. A woman is not at fault in the sexual touching. It is our fault. It is not a fault of a woman. Purity makes one instrumental for the salvation of the world The one who has resolved can remain in brahmacharya. He has the Gnani Purush as his master and guide over him to help and support his resolve. He has taken Gnan, attained the bliss of the Self, so where is the cause for any despair? I am telling them, marry with ease. But he says he does not want to marry. I do not say not to get married. You marry. You are not going to miss the moksha even if you marry; ‘we’ do not want to be blamed for that. If you cannot tolerate a life with a wife, what can I do in that? Then he replies, ‘I cannot tolerate that.’ He is giving this explanation. So if you can tolerate a life with a wife, then marry and if you cannot then let me know. If there is stored stock—karma of sexuality, then get married and settle the account. Just because one gets married, one is not a husband forever. All the solutions are there. If the thoughts of sex arise in the mind, you must do the shoot-on-sight pratikraman. The fault that occurs through the mind (sexual thoughts) can be tolerated, ‘we’ do have solution for that, ‘we’ can cleanse them for you. The fault that occurs through speech and action (act of sex) must never occur. Purity is a must! Impurity is absolutely unacceptable. Here only pure men are allowed. Where there is January 2007

purity the Lord resides. I told everyone, ‘brother, such loopholes will not work.’ That is indecisiveness— anischaya, these Aptaputras have not got married but they have made resolution, so do not let anything spoil the conduct. Behold, pure men are becoming ready for the salvation of the world—jagat kalyan. Purity is defined by the absence of sexual impulses between man and woman. As much you give your share, in the work of salvation of the world, you get much more in return. That is why you should do this. The salvation of the world will happen along with yours too. Brahmacharya in conduct—charitra: Eternal Bliss By just acquiring the agna of brahmacharya from the Gnani Purush there is so much experience of bliss! You have just commenced brahmacharya and yet you already experience so much bliss. Have you experienced such bliss? Questioner : I have experienced it, Dada. From that very moment, everything became clear inside. Dadashri : It became clear from the moment you took the vow, right? You need a clear mind when you take it. I had checked his mind; was clear at that time. This is what is called the acceptance of brahmacharya, vyavahaar charitra—relative conduct. In our Gnan the nischaya charitra—real conduct is to be the knower and the seer. Thus for us all we have the combination of brahmacharya, the relative conduct and the real conduct. The world has not tasted the bliss of this combined conduct. It is completely different. I am talking about this sthool January 2007

brahmacharya—overt, physical, through speech and acts. The one for whom this state arises is considered to be laden with merit karmas—punyashadi. They had taken agna, the vow of brahmacharya, and how wonderful is their bliss! Questioner : I had never experienced such bliss. I experience permanent bliss. Dadashri : Now in this current time cycle the conduct of people have totally deteriorated. Moral values have disappeared. It just happened that you came here and attained this Gnan, and your work is done and settled. You all are indeed very punyashadi! Otherwise you too would have been thrown out far and wide in worldly wanderings life after life. If one’s sexual conduct becomes spoilt, his life becomes useless, and he suffers tremendously. Worries, worries and worries! Even worries at night during sleep! These young men experience so much bliss. Questioner : Yes, the life before brahmacharya was useless. Dadashri : Is that right? Now do you feel alive? If everyone in the family wishes for their boy (son, brother) to acquire brahmacharya, then we know it is vyavasthit— scientific circumstantial evidence. That is the only evidence. ‘We’ do not meddle in that any further. If brahmacharya is in ‘vyavasthit’, then only family members would be willing. If anyone in the family is unhappy and complaining, the ‘vyavasthit’ may change. What does ‘vyavasthit’ mean? There is no complaint from anyone. Everyone will give you a green signal, then know that is ‘vyavasthit’. After acquiring the agna of brahmacharya, if someone comes to throw a bomb (tries to attack sexually) then you should become alert. You have attained this agna; it 23

is a very big accomplishment! There is tremendous power involved in the words of Dada’s agna. If you do not break your decision then Dada’s energy can help you and if you break your decision then Dada’s energy will slide away. Brahmacharya is a great treasure! People would steal—take away these energies from you. It is like taking off the tin for while offering a jujube fruit to a little kid. A little child gets trapped in temptation and gives the tin (used to coat cooking vessels), in the same way the world is entangled in unending temptation—lalach. After taking the vow of brahmacharya, the bliss has multiplied by many folds, no? All these troubles arise due to this avrat—sexuality, which prevents the true understanding of the bliss of the Self. The bliss of being in this major vow of brahmacharya is totally different, no? Bliss would increase a lot, tremendous bliss! Body can leave but the decision will not break In the past steadiness of brahmacharya was not like this, the way we have now. Nowadays people have no awareness— beybhaan. What can happen if one enters into sexuality after attaining this Gnan (and the vow of brahmacharya)? It is considered as a betrayal of satsang and betrayal of the Gnani, and will go to hell from here. Here, (in the path of the Akram Vignan and brahmacharya) you will get more punishment, why? Questioner : There is responsibility, no? Dadashri : No, one has deceived satsang, deceived the Gnani, he is a big betrayer. How can it be like this? Does not he know such thing that this is wrong? It is just that knowingly one allows it to happen, and thus misuses the Agnas of ‘sambhave nikaal— 24

settling the file with equanimity, and vyavasthit’. You had not heard such thing before, had you? Questioner : I had not heard this before. Dadashri : Now will all these remain in your awareness or slip off? It must not happen here. If it does, it is such that you will not be able to ‘show your face’ here. It is not appropriate for us. With ego—I am Chandulal—whatever happened, one binds with this karma as ‘over draft’, but sexual interaction must never occur. The one who is engaged in illicit sex (outside societal acceptance, if married) is not concerned where his own wife or children go—indulge. So he is called shameless, no? He does not have value of pure conduct, does he? Now make all these inner adjustments. At last also, if one dies tomorrow, vishaya— sex too will lend, no? Why not let it happen while you are alive? Why not do it directly instead of the nature forcing you to do it, through worldly miseries and death? Thus one is free from it and alive! He stopped this karma of sexuality (from binding for next life) and in return he is bound with another karma (for employing ego against sexuality). It is all right that it—brahmacharya has not arisen naturally! And so this new debt is created. This debt (of employing egoism) is better but the debt of vishaya that will ruin many lives to come. The energy of brahmacharya is the foundation of moksha After attaining this Gnan, anger-pridedeceit-greed does not happen to us. So this vyavahaar charitra—‘inner world’ conduct is considered of very high order. Whatever angerpride-deceit-greed arises, are merely discharging as effects and need to be settled with equanimity. They are not alive (ego January 2007

supported) and therefore they are not really anger-pride-deceit-greed. Therefore, such worldly conduct is of a very high order. However, because brahmacharya—absence of any sexual impulses through thoughts, speech and acts—is not followed properly, the conduct—charitra becomes weak. Henceforth, this brahmacharya has to be made strong; yet, one does not have to do it forcefully or aggressively. It is only good if it becomes so with naturalness and ease. One’s deep inner intent should be for brahmacharya. Until brahmacharya is preserved exactly, one will not be able to understand clearly whether the pleasure stems from the Self or from the nonSelf (sex), relative worldly—pudgalic. Vyavahaar charitra means, one’s conduct (in thoughts, speech and acts) is such that it will not hurt any woman, nor will one’s vision become sexual towards any woman. It is better if one tries to practice brahmacharya for certain time limit. At least this will let one gain from the experience, no? Once you take up the conduct of brahmacharya—charitra—all hassles and problems leave. Thereafter, thoughts will know that they will be insulted, so ‘knowing this’; they will be scared to arise. It is the greatest thing to accomplish brahmacharya with the support of the ‘Gnani Purush’. The conduct of the ‘Gnani Purush’ is supreme, even a thought of a sexual nature does not arise in front of Him (within and around). A single sexual thought must not arise. If it does, wash it off (cleanse) with pratikraman. The deep inner signal—bhaav of a sexual type may arise, but it must not proceed to a thought, nor must it ever come forth in speech or any act, and on the rare occasion if it proceeds to the level of thoughts, then it January 2007

must be washed off with instant pratikraman. This is called charitra—conduct of purity—in vyavahaar—the relative, worldly interaction. When this becomes the total continuous experience as the Self—nischaya charitra— one becomes a God. Questioner : What more is to be done for (ideal) worldly conduct? Dadashri : Nothing. What else can you do about the worldly conduct? Staying in the Agnas of the Gnani is the ideal worldly conduct and if ever brahmacharya were added to this, it would be much better because then it is considered the ideal worldly conduct. Until then, worldly conduct is not considered complete, in its total definition. When one attains the state of brahmacharya, then the completion of ‘vyavahaar charitra’ has been attained. The qualities of a shilvaan Questioner : I want to know what are the attributes of shilvaan—inner strength of character? Dadashri : A shilvaan would have morality, sincerity, brahmacharya, in addition to natural humility. Natural means he does not have to make an effort. He will talk to another person with simple and natural humility. Then he would have natural straightforwardness. He does not have to make an effort for this. As you direct him, he will follow. He is naturally content. If we give him a plate with a little rice and kadhee (soup dish made from yogurt) he will not even raise his head (ego). Natural contentment! His forgiveness would also be natural. His acquisition and renunciation is natural and effortless. When all these become natural then know that you have come across a shilvaan! Questioner : But would that shilvaan 25

person attain the moksha? Dadashri : Only such a person, a shilvaan, can bestow the moksha to another! Questioner : That is not possible without Gnan. That means shil—above qualities—are also is not possible at all without Gnan. Dadashri : That is true, all encompassing, but when you split it, it is expressed thus. Questioner : Natural forgiveness. Now I forgive you. Dadashri : That is not of value here. Who are you to grant me forgiveness? Naturalness is the key! If you were to slap him and then look into his eyes, and you see him granting you forgiveness, then this is called natural forgiveness. You do not have to beg, ‘please forgive me.’ If you were to slap him, you will not see any angry look in his eyes! The State of Shilvaan What is the meaning of Shilvaan—inner energies of the Self expressing in the relative realm? If the opponent has come to quarrel and abuse you, when he sees you, he will not be able to say a word. If you ask him to say something, he will not be able to say anything. That is the power of shil—highest inner quality! If you make any preparations—react from within whatsoever, then that ‘shil’ will break. Do not make any preparations. Let whoever wants to do anything, do whatever he wants. Say, ‘I am everywhere.’ (The enlightened world view, ‘I am’, ‘there is no difference between the Self of the attacker and ‘I’ ’). Questioner : What if there are subtle under currents of deceitful approaches to drag us into a conflict? Dadashri : Whatever he may try to do, 26

if You (the awakened Self in Akram Vignan) remain unmoved, and do not want to be dragged in, then he will not be able to do anything to you. Questioner : But I have to remain in the decision, ‘I do not want to be dragged in’ (ego), do I not? Dadashri : No. This, ‘I do not want to be dragged in,’ should be from the state of the Self (swadhin). Questioner : So am I to remain in my natural (sahaj) state (the Self)? Dadashri : Yes, in the natural state only. And if due to certain circumstances, you (the non-Self, Chandulal) get pulled, and have to go, then later you should not be bothered (intellect use, do not ruminate over the past) and not interfere in that happening. Consider it as something that is history. Questioner : I should not become engrossed (tanmayakar) in it? Dadashri : Do not become engrossed in it at all. First let this inner strength of character (shil) develop. This ‘character’ is an exclusive inner force and energy. It (shil) is possible to attain only after Gnan. The influence and power that impresses others (prabhav), is a very small achievement in comparison with this ‘shil’. This ‘prabhav’ is seen in worldly people. The one with this inner exclusive force (shil) has no inferiority complex, even in front of God Himself. And how then is such a person with ‘shil’ going to feel inferior in front of humans? That is what ‘shil’ is. It will protect you in every way. It will protect you from the celestial beings (devas, devis). It will protect you from fear of snakes, insects, and all animals. Grand and awe-inspiring celebration of Pran Pratishtha of Shri Sai Baba and Tirthankara Lord Shri Padmanabh Prabhu at Trimandir, Adalaj A grand ceremony of the sacred instillation of the Great Saint Shri Sai Baba of Shiridi and Tirthankara Lord Shri Padmanabh Prabhu, the first Tirthankara of the coming cycle of twenty-four Tirthankaras, took place at the Trimandir in Adalaj; a non-sectarian temple inspired by the revered Akram Vignani Gnani Purush Dada Bhagwan on December 29th 2006. This celebration took place in the presence of Atmagnani Pujya Deepakbhai Desai. In the presence of thousands of Mahatmas, many of whom had traveled from all corners of the world, Pujya Deepakbhai started the pranpratishtha ceremonies of the idols by singing a devotional song welcoming the celestial gods and goddesses. The pran-pratishtha of Lord Shri Padmanabh Prabhu and Shri Sai Baba took place from 4:00 am to 6:00 am. After this Deepakbhai sang devotional songs from the temple podium, inviting Pujya Dadashri and Pujya Niruma. He also sang a special song elucidating the importance of the Tirthankara Lords to thousands of Mahatmas who thronged the courtyard beneath. Many danced as they were overcome with elation. Thereafter prakshal-pujan-aarti (ceremonious bathing, worship and lamp-waving ceremony, respectively) of the Lord Padmanabh Prabhu and Shri Sai Baba took place. The renowned gazal maestro Manhar Udhas and the Soormani Award winner Dr. Monikaben Shah with their melodious voice, created an atmosphere of magic, mesmerizing everyone with devotion. This ceremony was telecasted live throughout the world on the Aastha TV Channel from 6.30 am to 10:30 am. These extremely beautiful marble idols of Shri Sai Baba and Lord Shri Padmanabh Prabhu were carved in Jaipur. Weighing approximately four tons each, Shri Sai Baba’s and Lord Shri Padmanabh Prabhu’s idols stand 76" and 81" tall, respectively. Pujya Shri Deepakbhai explained to all present the importance of the non-sectarian Trimandir temple, the Tirthankara Lords and the intent of salvation of the world. The establishment of Shri Sai Baba’s idol is for removing pain and suffering of the people so that they can proceed in their spiritual path. The establishment of the Tirthankara Lord Padmanabh is for the salvation of the future generations to come. Just as the current living Tirthankara Lord Simandhar Swami is the instrumental savior of people on their path to liberation today, Lord Shri Padmanabh Prabhu will become the savior for people’s liberation, in the coming future. Thus these idols of Shri Sai Baba and Shri Padmanabh Prabhu will become very beneficial to people in their progress towards liberation. This celebration also coincided with the fourth anniversary of the Trimandir. In 2002 a grand instillation of the idols of current living Tirthankara Lord Shri Simandhar Swami as the main Liberator along with Shri Lord Shiva and the three forms of Lord Krishna - Yogeshwara, Shri Nathji and Tirupati Balaji was celebrated in a majestic way. Together with this the pratishtha of Lord Rushabhdev, Lord Mahavir Swami, Hanumanji, Ganeshji, Padmavatimata, Ambamata and other celestial Deva, Devis and gods was also done. On the same night, a special program of worship took place on the temple balcony where a crescendo of melodies of devotional songs of Lord Shri Simandhar Swami, Dada Bhagwan and Shri Sai Baba entranced all present. The atmosphere was charged with a powerful mystical aura. On 30th December 2006, more than three thousand people desirous of spiritual salvation attained Atmagnan (Self-realization) in the Gnan Vidhi conducted by Atmagnani Pujya Deepakbhai Desai. The entire Trimandir temple floor, the gigantic hall beneath the temple as well as the gardens and the grounds of the temple were densely packed with these spiritual aspirants. January 2007
