The Corinth Board of Aldermen will consider a liquor ordinance revision to let restaurant patrons finish their drinks after midnight.
In Tuesday evening’s meeting, Alderman Andrew Labas requested a draft ordinance with the change be prepared for the board to consider at a future meeting. He said restaurant owners have expressed interest

Cowboys are getting ready for the PRCA Rodeo event coming to the Crossroads Arena March 24 and 25.
With the end of the candidate qualifying period last week, Farmington and Rienzi are set to have contested races for alderman. The sitting mayors in the two municipalities will have no competition. With candidates declaring party affiliation in Farmington, the town will have a Republican primary on May 2. All of the candidates are running as Republicans, and the election will be decided in the primary. The town will not have to have a general election in June. Incumbents seeking reelection are Lowell Gann, Joel Cottrell, Jeff Patterson and Johnny Potts. Others running are Luther Rhodes, Sidney Shadburn and Shane Harvell.

The Alcorn County Genealogical Society will host a set of new classes this spring, following two successful offerings in 2016. Anyone interested in starting genealogy research to discover their family’s roots are asked to consider attending the April sessions. Those who are currently researching and require help to move forward are also encouraged to attend. Corinth native Ernestine Norris has a history of helping. For 13 years, she led the Alcorn County Chapter of the American Red Cross, coordinating responses to disasters, providing training programs and assisting military families. “It was, you might say, a 24-hour a day job,” said Norris. After retiring from that agency, she became director of the Corinth Welfare Association in 2004, where she enjoys helping people in need.
