Suit dismissed against Mississippi Silicon BY ZACK STEEN zsteen@dailycorinthian.com
BURNSVILLE — A federal judge has dismissed a case to block the construction of Tishomingo County’s newest manufacturing facility, Mississippi
Silicon. Thursday’s decision came following the filing of a lawsuit by competitor, Globe Metallurgical, who wanted to stop Mississippi Silicon from being built due to environment rea-
sons. The lawsuit said the plant would exceed federal emissions requirements and cause harm not only in Mississippi, but in Alabama and Tennessee. The court filing also said the Mississippi Department of En-
vironmental Quality failed to give the public a chance to review the permit application and air quality impact models submitted by Mississippi Silicon. It said because the actions violated the Clean Air Act, the plant
was in effect being constructed without a permit. The judge ruled the court lacked jurisdiction over the claims against the company. Please see LAWSUIT | 6A
