Gone, but never forgotten, victims of foreign and domestic terror attacks will be honored during a special service on 9/11. Held at the Glen Volunteer Fire Department on U.S. Highway 72 East in Glen, the pastor and congregation of Indian Springs United Methodist Church is teaming up with Glen V.F.D to present their 10th Annual Service of Remembrance. Slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, the date will mark 15 years since the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in which 2,997 innocent men, women and children perished. Lifelong Corinthian Jennie Whitfield Hibbard has a history with health care. The 51-year-old Corinth resident is the owner and operator of Whitfield Nursing Home. Her grandparents, B.T. and Bertha Whitfield, founded the old Corinth Hospital in the late 1920s in the building where she now provides care for Corinth’s elderly citizens. The building itself has seen its share of local history, going back to the days of some infamous Corinthians. “My dad and uncle remembered playing in the backyard and seeing Towhead White pull up with a knife sticking out of his back going to the emergency room,” Hibbard said. She is an Ole Miss grad and currently counting the days until the fall kickoff. “I’m a big Ole Miss Rebel,” she said, “and looking forward to football season.”
