The South Harper Road roundabout is going to get prettier. Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful, with the assistance of Lowe’s and Archer Landscape, is moving forward with a landscaping plan to beautify the circle at the intersection near Corinth Elementary School. “This highly visible site is at the gateway to both the new park and the Corinth Elementary School,” said KCAB Director Andrea Rose. “This project is a long time coming, and the Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful board members have worked hard to make it a reality.” The city approved the proposed design this week. It will adhere to Federal Highway Administration specifications to avoid any visibility issues. “We are scheduled to begin work while the Corinth schools are on their fall break with work to be completed before Oct. 24 and a ribbon cutting on Nov. 4,

The 9/11 terrorist attacks will be remembered today during a special service at the Alcorn County Courthouse. Set for 2 p.m. in downtown Corinth, the service will include a moment of silence, a flag ceremony and the playing of the national anthem. “This is something Corinth needs,” said American Legion Post 6 Commander Tommy Watson. “Everyone in this community needs to remember 9/11 — hopefully this ceremony will act as a refresher.” Corinth Police Department and Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department chaplain Josh Hodum will also speak during the Sunday service. “The ceremony will be a very simple reminder of the pain we felt 15 years ago,” added Watson.
