Missing teenager reunited with family BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com
Thanks to a railroad employee, a Corinth teenager who had been reported missing is back home. Danielle Guillot, 13, was reunited with her mother at the Corinth Police Department
early Friday afternoon. She had last been seen around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police Chief Ralph Dance said he and Assistant Chief Josh Fortenberry were approached by the railroad worker while at lunch on Friday. The man told them he was not sure if it was
the person they were looking for, but he had seen a girl under the bridge on Polk Street on both Thursday and Friday. Dance and Fortenberry went to Henry Cemetery near the bridge, approached through the woods and found the girl sitting under the bridge.
She appeared to be clean and fed, leading police to believe that she received some assistance during her disappearance. Dance said it appears to be a case of teenage rebellion. He expressed thanks for the trainman’s tip. “If not for the help of this rail-
road worker paying attention and letting us know, she’d still be out there,” said Dance. According to her mother, Marle Sanders of Cass Street, the teen had last been seen near her home with two boys she knew, but the boys did not know her whereabouts.

The school will also host a Harlem Legends vs. Alcorn County All-Stars basketball game. Nine fundraisers are on tap in the coming months at Alcorn Central High School. Among those include a Little League basketball camp, the sale of homecoming t-shirts, the hosting of Mini-Cheer Camp, the sale of Rada Cutlery and t-shirts. Today is the day to round up old chemicals, electronics, tires and other hazards for proper disposal. The gates will open at 8 a.m. at the transfer station located off South Harper on Getwell Road near Physicians Urgent Care for the Household Hazardous Waste Day coordinated by Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful and its partners. The event runs through 1 p.m. With more phone calls and questions than ever before about the event, KCAB Director Andrea Rose is expecting a big turnout. “It is usually busiest between 8 and 9,” she said. “This year, we have added a second lane. We just need people to drive slowly and cautiously.” A wide variety of materials will be accepted for disposal and recycling. “Some people think it’s just Please see WASTE | 2

Emily Norton is now back home. After beginning her banking career at the South Harper Road Southbank location 13 years ago, she was quickly moved to the downtown branch. Following the purchase of the Corinth bank by FMBank, Norton was moved back to South Harper Road. “I feel like I’ve come full circle,” she said. “It’s quite different here than downtown – a lot busier.” As head teller and customer service representative, she’s proud to be an FMB employee. “They are super good to us,” she added. “This is a real family bank.” Married to Lucas for 10 years, the Nortons have one son, six-year-old Cory.
