An Alcorn County man’s alleged string of car burglaries ended when a Corinth woman spotted him in her car in the middle of the night. Jerry Patterson Jr., 42, of

County Road 418, faces five counts of burglary of a vehicle with the Corinth Police Department and another five counts of the same charge with the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department. There is the potential for more charges.

The car burglaries happened on multiple nights last week in the city in the Mississippi, Tennessee, Main and Linden Street areas and in the county in the vicinity of where Patterson

City extends solar panel moratorium

History comes alive

The Corinth Board of Aldermen extended the moratorium on solar panel construction for another 60 days. The action Tuesday comes as the board continues to consider a possible ordinance regulating the placement of solar grids on residential properties. The ordinance might require minimum lot sizes and would be designed to minimize the visibility of the panels such as the one currently located in front of a

business at 1708 East Shiloh Road. There is currently nothing in the city code that would prevent someone from erecting a solar panel. Members of the Corinth VFW post are seeking donations for the annual VFW yard sale, coming Oct. 21-22. Donors are asked to drop off items at the VFW post on Purdy School Road this Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. “We’re asking for anything that anybody wants to donate,” said Cathy Woods, this year’s yard sale chairperson. Woods said the annual event collected approximately $750 in 2015 to help area veterans.
