The CHS Warrior Band will show off its skills in an exhibition performance at the end of the Crossroads Marching Classic.

The eight candidates vying for county school board seats will get a chance to talk at an upcoming community speaking. The Daily Corinthian will partner with the Alcorn County Advisory Council for the event set for Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Kossuth Elementary School auditorium. “We are pleased to host this important speaking with the Advisory Council,” said Daily Corinthian publisher Reece

Marching classic brings Relic show offers crowds to Crossroads glimpse of history BY BOBBY J. SMITH bsmith@dailycorinthian.com

The Crossroads Marching Classic will return on Oct. 15 to Warrior Stadium II. The third annual event will feature a dozen competing marching bands from across North Mississippi, including the Alcorn Central High School band in the 2A division. The Corinth Warrior Band and Northeast Mississippi Community College Showband from Tigerland will show off

their chops in exhibition performances near the end of the event. “The Corinth High School Band is very excited to be hosting the third annual Crossroads Marching Classic,” said CHS Band Director Tommy Thompson. “The students, parents and community enjoy watching and listening to all of the bands perform, and our guests get a chance to experience all the great hospitality and food that Corinth has to offer.”

2016-17 Band Aids President Therray Taylor said the event is a great opportunity to raise money and community support for the Corinth band and to do more things in the community. “It also helps with middle school band students, motivating them to continue with band through high school,” said Taylor. The son of a police officer became a police officer. “I love it,” said Corinth Police Department Sgt. Chad Harville. “I grew up watching my dad be a police officer and I always wanted to be just like him.” His dad, Scotty Harville, retired as the Corinth assistant police chief in 2014 – the same year Chad came back home after a stint on the Tupelo police force. “Corinth is a special place. A community I love to serve,” said the 14year veteran officer. The father of three children – Caitlyn, 10, Walker, 8, and Elee, 3 – says his “priority is to make the city a safer place for his kids to grow up.”
