Absentee ballots reached 300 during the past week as the 2015 election season comes down to the last couple of weeks. While state and county races will be decided on Nov. 3, the education funding initiative and its unusual ballot presentation is one of the hottest topics at the moment. “In 16 years, I’ve never seen anything quite like that,” said Circuit Clerk Joe Caldwell. “It seems like you could make it a little simpler.”

The seasonal flu shot is now available at all health department county clinics in Mississippi. Adult shots begin at $30, while children who qualify for the Vaccines for Children program or the Children’s Health Insurance Program can get
