FARMINGTON — Saturday is going to be a sweet and spooky evening for one Alcorn County town. Farmington Fire Rescue is ready to satisfy the sweet tooth of area youngsters with its 8th Annual Trunk or Treat from 5:30-7:30 p.m. “We are asking all the little goblins to come to the front door of city hall this year,” said Debbie Jackson, Farmington City Clerk. BURNSVILLE — Silicon officially began pouring Wednesday as Mississippi’s latest advanced manufacturer opened for business. The $200 million Mississippi Silicon plant, which actually began startup operations last month, will help meet the growing demand for silicon metal, which is used in thousands of products ranging

from computer chips to vehicles. “This is a wonderful day for Burnsville and Tishomingo County and an exciting time for all Mississippians as advanced manufacturing grows even stronger in our state,” said Gov. BOONEVILLE — A nurse’s aide faces a pair of charges in Prentiss County. Charlotte Godsey, 39, of Booneville, is charged with felony exploitation of a vulnerable person and alleged possession of a controlled substance. Godsey, who turned herself in to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 19, according to Attorney General Jim Hood. The aide is alleged to have obtained more than $250 from a resident without authorization and converted it to her own personal use while employed as a nurse’s aide at a Booneville assisted living facility. Godsey is also accused of illegally obtaining Schedule II controlled substances, Oxycotin and Hydrocodone, that were prescribed and purchased for two patients of the facility. The nurse’s aide is free on a $20,000 property bond. If convicted, Godsey faces up to 15 years behind bars. The case is being investigated by Joe Sanderson and prosecuted by Myrick Jackson of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office Medicaid Control Fraud Unit.

Complete with charismatic villain, supernatural powers and Victorian grandeur, Corinth Theatre-Arts’ latest presentation will leave audiences entranced as they explore the enigmatic mind of one of literary history’s most notorious killers. Based on the 1897 classic tale of Gothic horror by Irishman Bram Stoker and adapted for the stage by frightmeister L. Don Swartz, “Nosferatu: The Legend of Dracula” will make its debut to the Crossroads Playhouse stage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. A encore presentation is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, followed by a special Halloween showing at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 where guests are invited, but not required to wear their costumes. A 2 p.m. matinée will also be presented on Sunday, Nov 1. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for students. They may be reserved by calling the theatre in advance or by visiting the box office one hour prior to show-time, if any remain. Season tickets are
