‘Pigeon drop’ makes holiday return BY ZACK STEEN zsteen@dailycorinthian.com
Crossroads area women driving or walking alone should watch their backs this holiday season. Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance says it’s a scam that seems to return every year.
“The same thing starts happening around this time,” he said. “Women who are out in public alone become victims for others to attempt to take advantage of.” Dance confirmed a grand larceny robbery took place recently where two black women per-
suaded a local woman to give up a sum of money in order to secure rights to a larger sum of money. “This is called the pigeon drop and unfortunately it seems to happen around Corinth every Christmas,” he said. “With pigeon drops, the victim is usually left with nothing.”
Dance said surveillance was captured of the robbers and the photos matched those captured from the same type of robbery in Corinth last December. “We believe these two woman are coming back to town each year, scamming someone and then moving on to the next

Dinosaurs set to roam Crossroads Arena BY STEVE BEAVERS sbeavers@dailycorinthian.com
Crossroads Arena is taking a step back in time. The facility is headed back to the period when dinosaurs roamed the earth this weekend. “Discover the Dinosaurs” is
set for both Saturday and Sunday at the arena. The dinosaur exhibit contains eight to 10 scenes with each scene representing dinosaurs from a period of time that best reflects when they lived. “This is going to be an ex-
town to do the same thing,” Dance said. The chief is asking that no one allow a person inside their vehicle they do not know. “If they are asking for money in exchange for money, then it’s a scam and you should call the police,” he added.
perience like no other,” said Andrew Emerson, company manager of the exhibit. “The exhibit will take people back millions of years when dinosaurs lived.” Please see DINOSAURS | 2A
original demand amount of $181,161.93 has been reduced to $146,465.63. Rinehart and attorneys Tony Farese and Mike Holleman met with the auditor’s office on Nov. 16 to discuss the demand. “I think there is no disagreement that there are no funds missing,” Board Attorney Bill Davis said after the meeting concluded. “It’s invested out there in the facility or it’s in the clothing or it’s in the equipment — the radios, the computers. It just didn’t come from the right source.” Please see DEMAND | 2A
