A recently resurfaced section of Kendrick Road may have to be redone, and Alcorn County is asking residents to use caution until temporary striping is in place. Completion of the project has been on hold after it was discovered that the chip seal surface on a section of Kendrick through the State Aid Program does not meet specifications. The work was done by a contractor. “It was kind of a wait-and-see deal about two weeks ago to see if what they put down would actually work,” said County Engineer Kent Geno. “We know now it’s not going to stick, the liquid asphalt that they used. Naturally, you don’t want to come in there and fog seal and stripe with that situation.” Some of the gravel is not sticking to the mixture that was used. Books-A-Million bookseller Danielle Dalton is a relatively new arrival to the Crossroads area. Born in Louisiana, the 22-year-old Dalton grew up in Tennessee and moved to Iuka six months ago, and then to Corinth a month back, to her current home on Thomas Street. For the last six months she has worked at Corinth’s Books-AMillion, enjoying the perks of the job — getting to read books from the store’s inventory. “I’ve read about 20 books since I got here,” said Dalton. “I would’ve read more, but you don’t really have much time.” Dalton said she enjoys books in the fantasy genre, like the Harry Potter series and Irish author Michael Scott’s “The Alchemyst” series. She is also an avid gamer, from card games like Magic: The Gathering to a wide variety of video games.
