57th Annual Azalea Festival Car Show winners ‌Despite a change of date and location the 57th Annual Azalea Festival Car Show enjoyed a beautiful day Sunday. Bristol Rehkop and her Craftman were the Queen’s Choice winner and the Kid’s Choice winner, Dan Combs and his Desoto were the Mayor’s Choice winner, Cherri Newbury and her 1967 Mustang were the People’s Choice winner, Pat Kurtz and his 2016 Mustang won Ladies’ Choice, Fred Dockins and his 1958 Cadillac won Azalea Board Choice and Shelby Harris and his 1937 Ford took home Best of Show. In the Original Cars category; 1900-1949 Debra McDowell took first place and Gary Ireland placed second, 1950-1959 Dan Combs took first place, Fred Dockins placed second and Larry Mizell won third, 19601969 Larry Lappe took first place, Joe Dennis placed second and Cherri Newbury won third, 1980-1989 Bill Veal took first place,1990-1999 Geo Spala won first place and Jacob Francis finished second, 2000-2019 Chris Henson took first place, Lanny Abney placed second and Austin Scott took home third. Shelby Harris and his 1937 Ford took home the top prize at the Azalea Festival Car Show. Harris won Best of Show along with a 4-foot trophy and $250. He also took third in the Street Rods 1933-1948 category.

Dan Combs and his Desoto were Mayor Kelly Korokis’ pick for the Mayor’s Choice Award. Combs also won first place in the Original Cars 1950-1959 category.
