WELCOME TO OUR 18th ANNUAL MADISON COUNTY FAIR The Madison County Fair Association would like to invite you to our 18th annual event on October 4th and 5th. Our theme this year is Come Grow with Us, as we have been working on many exciting educational and fun activities to grow our fair and strengthen our community. The purpose of the Madison County Fair is to promote the importance of our region’s strong family farming heritage, traditions, and culture by providing a community event that imparts a deeper understanding and appreciation of farming and the vastly important role it serves in our daily lives, in the economy of our county, state, and country, and ultimately, the strength of our nation. The fair provides a family friendly setting for our community to learn about agriculture business, and leadership through workshops, presentations, demonstrations, competitions, and recognition for accomplishments. Fredericktown favorite, Shannon Cox will be kicking off the Madison County Fair on Friday evening with bluegrass, country, southern rock, and gospel music while families enjoy a meal together with friends. After our Ice Cream and Pie Social, the fair will host an exciting opening ceremony with formation riders followed by our farming families, church leaders, business leaders, community leaders, veterans, and future leaders, which we will honor after a local vocalist sings the National Anthem and the audience joins together to sing Proud to be An American. Since families and farming forge the foundation of all civilizations, the fair will be featuring Sermon on the Mount Lessons of Life and Leadership from the Language of the Horse. Nationally renowned, professional horse trainer, business excecutive, pastor, and certified youth and family counselor, Dr. Lew Sterrett, will use horses to demonstrate real life issues, simple solutions, and application for daily living as he encourages and challenges attendees to greater excellence in life. Saturday’s events include two different presentations by Dr. Sterrett; a Fire and Smoke Barbecue Cook Off; classes on bee and honey production; creating a symbiotic, synergistic, production model for meat chickens and organic produce; increasing the health of pastures, size of herd, and profit through rotational grazing; the design and function of horses and cattle; fossils, rocks and minerals of Missouri; a livestock, poultry, water fowl, and rabbit showcase; agricultural products showcase; a horse show; truck and tractor pull; a treasure hunt; future farmers baby parade, kiddie tractor pull, Mr. and Mrs. Madison County; greased pig contest; music; and a barn dance. 9

18th ANNUAL MADISON COUNTY FAIR -SCHEDULE OF EVENTSlittle about what we learned along the way. We will describe techniques to help increase your ability to grow meat and produce without the use of pesticides or herbicides while increasing the production and the health of your soil. The George’s are a family of four who were city dwellers until they were drawn to a healthier way of life after their young daughter began experiencing health issues. After years of research they went back to their kitchen, learning to cook local foods from scratch. As they did this, they saw amazing health improvements in the whole family which created a desire to raise and grow their own food. In 2014, they moved to Liberty Mission Farm, where they purpose to share their story, their farm-raised food, and their other natural products. Both sets of their parents have also relocated and are assisting on the farm with 3 generations now working together. The family focuses on replenishing the nutrients in the soil through crop rotations, composting and livestock rotation on the pastures. This encourages healthy soils which produce healthy plants that are naturally more pest and disease resistant. And they purpose to have nothing go to waste on their farm. For example, their laying hens eliminate waste by eating vegetable scraps from their gardens in addition to their fresh pasture, and in turn produce eggs, fertilizer and act as a natural bug removal system. It’s all a symbiotic, synergistic production model that yields far more per acre than industrial models; and it’s aromatically and aesthetically pleasing. 10:00 am-5:00 pm Live Observation Bee Hive (Weather permitting) and Bee Booth Larry Moses Wanda Priest Park across from the horse arena…Larry will be answering your questions on bees at his booth. 10:30 am-11:30 pm: Fearfully and Wonderfully Created: Horses Paul Weiland & Cattle Gary Winkler-Wanda Priest Park-Horse Arena…Ask the beasts, and let them teach you. He is passionate about God’s creation, even the smallest microbe to an animal as large as a horse and often gives naturalist programs at a nature reserve. Gary Winkler is an engineer with 20 years experience and has received multiple patents. Both Paul and Gary give presentations on animals at the St. Louis Zoo. 11:00 am: Kiddie Tractor Pull Sponsored and hosted by Matthews and Sons Equipment- North Main Street… Open to ages 3-5 and 6-10. Sermon on the Mount Lessons of Leadership from the Language of the Horse: Capture the Heart of the Next Generation • Dr. Lew Sterrett • Three live presentations with horses Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night! Freedom to Excel, Excelling Through Correction, and Excelling Through Passion Excellence must always be built upon a solid foundation. Observe the construction of this foundation as an unridden horse is saddled and ridden for the first time. Observe the parallels to how human relationships are established. Learn what it takes to Capture the Heart of the Next Generation. Lessons of Life and Leadership from the Language of the Horse. Professional horse trainer, business executive, pastor, and certified youth and family counselor, and entrepreneur, Dr. Lew Sterrett, produces one of the most unique events in the world. Dr. Lew will address heart issues of one or more horses while he reaches into the heart of each participant. As he trains the horse, you will vividly see yourself, your spouse, your child, your employees, co-worker or customer. The needs of the heart will be illustrated and the steps to meeting those needs will be evidenced as the horse overcomes his resistance to change and finds success and fulfillment in his relationship with the trainer. As a certified horse trainer and relationship specialist, Dr. Lew understands real life issues, accurate and truthful solutions, and clear applications for daily living. You will feel encouraged, focused, and challenged to greater excellence in your life as you see the simple steps of application for your complex life issues resulting in a positive effect, both now and for future generations. www.sermononthemount.org SPONSORED BY: • BETHEL UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH • CEDAR CREEK HARDWOODS • GOD’S COUNTRY COWBOY CHURCH • PETTY CONSTRUCTION • SUMMERS FAMILY FARM LLC • THE LORDS FAMILY FELLOWSHIP
