One thing that makes Casey Hartley smile is when someone sees a photograph of hers and instantly realizes it’s her work.

Hartley started KC Photography 12 years ago out of necessity when a friend needed someone to shoot her wedding. Then other friends asked her to do the same for them.

“My late mother fancied herself a photographer so I decided to dive more into it,” said Hartley. “Turns out God was simply handing me a big gift!”

Hartley specializes in weddings, seniors and headshots. Most recently, she earned Best Photographer in the Best of the Parkland awards, a title she has won multiple years.

“Hands down, I’ve been blessed by getting hired by the most wonderfully beautiful and gracious clients,” she said.

As a photographer, Hartley said it’s important to be a good listener. She expects more from herself than what her clients expect. She also surrounds herself with other people who are great and make a difference.

Although it’s difficult for her to choose a favorite event which she’s photographed, Hartley thoroughly enjoyed photographing a local couple last year at Yosemite. “Being gifted with a successful business has taken me all over and I’m loving it,” she said. Hartley has a second shooter, Sarah, who assists her with wedding day photography. Hartley and daughter Rumer – along with their four dogs Karma, Ike, Tazer and Ollie – live in Farmington. When she’s not found behind her camera, Hartley enjoys great conversation, a good debate, occasional naps, quality time with friends, driving too fast, music, teaching high schoolers Algebra at Valley R-6, Jesus and Twizzlers.

KC Photography is the place to go for memorable senior photos.
