The Servpro Farmington Country Days Parade will begin at 10 a.m., and travel east on Columbia Street from Kinzer to Henry Street, where it rounds back on Liberty Street. The parade is one of the region’s largest with nearly 200 entries.

Mr. & Mrs. Country Days Introducing: Mr. And Mrs. Country Days Kevin and Karri Thurman have been named Mr. and Mrs. Country Days and will serve as the honorary ambassadors for the 37th annual Farmington summer festival.

a graduate of Farmington High School. The couple has three children; Riley, 23, Jonesboro, Ar., Evan, 19, a sophomore at Mineral Area College, and Sophi, a junior at Farmington High School.

Kevin Thurman is currently director of development and alumni relations at Mineral Area College. Previously he held positions in health care administration and marketing at Mercy Hospital - Jefferson, Mineral Area Regional Medical Center and Parkland Health Center.

Kevin enjoys golfing with his son, Evan, and spends time coaching the girls’ Magic Basketball Academy 16U team. Has coached the majority of these girls since they were in the 4th grade. Kevin is involved in many civic and community organizations, and he is a former chairman of the Farmington Regional Chamber of Commerce. He loves sports and spending time with family.

He holds degrees from Southeast Missouri State University and Mineral Area College, and he is a graduate of Farmington High School. Karri Thurman is clinical advisor and training implementer for long term care software at BlueStrata EHR. She previously held positions at ADON and Southbrook Skilled Care. Karri has Associate of Arts and Associate in Nursing Degrees from Mineral Area College, and she is

Event Highlights Kids Laugh and Dogs Howl with Moonlight Bike Riders

Since the late 1980s, the Little Caesar’s Moonlight Bike Ride has been a favorite activity to end the first day of Farmington Country Days festivities. Registration and ride will start earlier than past years, with registration beginning at 9:30 p.m. and the ride beginning at 10 p.m. Participants should meet in the Country Mart parking lot directly behind Little Caesars. The bike ride is open to people of all ages. Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Bikes must be equipped with a headlight, and helmets are not required but recommended.

Spin Into Country Days with Rides on the Midway

Carnival rides are a popular attraction at the Farmington Country Days festival, and kids can kick off the weekend with adventurous amusement rides on the Midway, sponsored by Ozarks Federal Savings & Loan. Advance tickets are available for purchase at First State Community Bank, Ozarks Federal Savings & Loan, Plummer’s Hardware, US Bank, through Friday, June 5, 3 p.m. Ticket bundles include seven tickets for $5, but tickets will also be available for individual purchase at the park for $1 each. All-you-can-ride wristbands will be available for purchase on-site only Sunday, June 7. Carnival amusements will include attractions such as the Ferris wheel, carousel, swings, slides, and gravitational rides. All rides are family friendly, but some may entail a minimum height requirement for riders.

Keep Your Children Safe with MoCHIP

On Saturday, June 6, The Masonic Children’s Foundation will hold a free MoCHIP child ID program. It will be hosted at the Farmington Fire Department, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. MoCHIP is a child identification program designed as a preventative level of protection against the increasing problem of missing and abducted children. The program consists of digital photographs, fingerprints, child information and emergency contacts, dental bite impressions, and two laminated identification cards. “On average, about 100 families participate each year,” said Dan Ward. Parents should fill out the application form online at http://mochip.org/whatwe-do/ before coming to the event to decrease wait times. The process takes approximately 20 minutes after registration, leaving time to enjoy other activities at Farmington Country Days. Come in and...

Participants will be guided on a leisurely ride through the streets of Farmington with a police escort. Road blocks will be in place throughout the ride along with transportation for tired riders to provide safety for all participants. “The ride is geared towards safety and family fun,” said Dan Combs, Little Caesars owner. Combs explained how excited he is to see second and third generation families coming to the event, creating a summer tradition of their own. The ride lasts approximately one hour, ending at the Country Mart parking lot. The evening concludes with prizes and giveaways for participants.

Stitch through Time with Presbyterian Church Quilt Show Saturday, June 6, members of the Farmington Presbyterian Church will host their free annual quilt show at the Farmington Presbyterian Church on Cayce Street, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Visitors can take a trip through time to enjoy the traditional textile art while also sampling baked goods and tea. Visitors will also have the chance to enter in a raffle to win a “Country Days Bow Tie” themed quilt made by women of the church. “It draws a huge crowd every year,” said Kay Taylor, a member of the Farmington Presbyterian Church. Taylor said quilts at the show are vintage, hand-made with special meaning while some are newer. She described a quilt that has been passed down through the genera-

tions of the church, dating back to the early 1900s. Intricate stitching includes names of pastors and significant congregation members throughout the church’s long history.

Classic Cars Cruise In to Support Special Olympics The second annual Country Days Classic Car Cruise In, sponsored by Sam Scism Ford Lincoln, provides car enthusiasts an opportunity to showcase their vehicless and support Special Olympics. Hosted by the St. Francois County Rotary Club, the car show will take place Saturday, June 6, in the First State Community Bank parking lot across from 201 E. Columbia Street. Participants should arrive early as registration begins 10 a.m. There is limited space available. A participant’s choice trophy will be awarded to the owner of the top choice vehicle, along with door prizes and dash plaques ues for the first 50 entries.

The event is open and free for the public to view, and is sure to turn heads pu w with its collection of classic cars. As Aside from hosting a fun event at C Country Days, the Classic Car Cruise In also serves a greater purpose to FFarmington and its regional communitties. All proceeds from entries into the car show support Special Olympics. The St. Francois Rotary Club raised $2,300 last year, which supported the first Special Olympics competition in this region of Missouri and fed 500 people at the event. The St. Francois Rotary Club is hopeful for a large turnout at the Cruise In this Country Days to continue supporting our local Special Olympic athletes.
