About The Community Guide he 2015-16 edition of the Daily News-Record’s Community Guide features the usual wealth of information about the central Valley — the people, schools, clubs, governments, organizations, churches and agencies that make up our corner of the world. The guide would not be possible without the assistance of the Daily News-Record staff, who confirm and update listings, to those in the advertising, prepress and press departments who sell and design ads, prepare each page and print and deliver the publication. The most important contributors,

T

though, are all of you: the hundreds of community residents, business owners, non-profit volunteers and school and church administrators who provided upto-date information about your organizations. We thank all of you for your contributions in making this guide as comprehensive as possible. However, while we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the listings here, errors do occur, especially given the vast amount of information to be compiled and the at-times difficult task of confirming the most recent data. If you notice inaccurate or outdated information, please send any corrections to jblair@dnronline.com or

kkendall@dnronline.com and we will list them in an upcoming edition of the Daily News-Record. And if you don’t see your agency, organization, church or group in the pages that follow, please send us your information so we can include it in the 2016-17 guide. Listings for next year’s guide may be sent to the aforementioned email address or by regular mail to the Daily News-Record, attention City Editor, Jerry Blair, P.O. Box 193, Harrisonburg, VA 22803. In the meantime, we hope you find this year’s guide to be a useful and helpful resource.

Preplanning just makes sense.

In life, we all plan for many things − vacations, retirement, our children’s education. We do this because we want to be prepared and take care of our family’s future. Making funeral, cremation and cemetery plans in advance is no different. From paperwork to personal choices, there are hundreds of tasks that must be completed when a loved one dies. Permanent decisions would need to be made in a very short period of time. Many of these decisions can be made now, before the time of need.

Traditional Services 8:30 & 11:00 AM We hope you will find our church a place where you can connect with the Holy Spirit and with others. Our mission is to encourage and develop a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Praise & Worship and the Word of God are both highly honored in our House. We have a heart for missions and lead several short-term mission trips each year that focus on either humanitarian needs and/or preaching the Gospel. We invite you to join us on this path, plug into the vision of the House, and meet others who desire the Lord with as much passion as yourself.

Under the Tree of Life A Community Bible Study

Tuesdays 5:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. beginning September 1st

Through this entire study is the sense of living toward completion – toward the climax of the message and the promise, extravagantly pictured in the Revelation. A Bible Study that gives equal time to the Old and New Testaments, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as the revelation of God.

This study will be held at The UC and is sponsored by West Side Baptist Church.
