Northern Pacific Railway Museum

10 South Asotin Avenue Toppenish, WA 98948 509.865.1911 www.nprymuseum.org The museum has been made to recreate the ambience of the 1930s Northern Pacific Railroad. The depot has been restored to its early appearance and gives an opportunity for the visitor to view many aspects of early railroad transportation. Its many artifacts help to demonstrate the importance of railroad transportation to the development of our community and the entire Western United States. The museum’s regular season is May – October.

Ritzville Railroad Depot Museum

201 W. Railroad Avenue Ritzville, WA 99169 509.659.1936 museums.goritzville.com During the early 20th century, Ritzville was the largest and heaviest grain shipping railroad station in the world which is why the Northern Pacific built such a large depot in such a small town. At one time 8 to 10 passenger trains arrived each day in Ritzville. Rail travel continued to be popular for many years after the turn of the century. Ritzville residents could ride the train to Spokane early in the morning and return that same evening. Passenger service to Ritzville

was dicontinued in 1972 after which the depot was used by railroad maintenance crews. In 1988, Burlington Northern deeded the depot to the City of Ritzville. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and is part of Ritzville’s National Historic District. The depot has changed very little. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Three Sisters The Sisters are three prominent volcanoes situated just west of Bend, each rising to just over 10,000 feet. South Sister Few visitors to central Oregon’s Three Sisters Wilderness can forget their first view of South Sister. Majestically rising 10,358 feet above the surrounding forest,

Broken Top Broken Top is a craggy volcanic remnant that hosts two glaciers situated at the eastern border of the Three Sisters Wilderness, directly north of Mount Bachelor. Mount Jefferson Oregon’s second-highest mountain is Mount Jefferson, a striking peak situated between Albany and Bend in north-central Oregon.

Middle Sister Middle Sister is the smallest of the Three Sisters in central Oregon’s high Cascades.

Three Fingered Jack Three Fingered Jack is among the oldest high volcanoes in the Cascades. Mount McLoughlin Mount McLoughlin is a relatively unknown volcano. Although it is the highest peak between Mount Shasta and South Sister and the sixth-highest peak in Oregon.

Mount Thielsen Mount Thielsen is known as “The Lightning Rod of the Cascades” because its summit horn stands so high and is struck by lightning seemingly more often than the summit of any other Cascade peak Rock of Ages The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is one of Oregon’s outdoor playgrounds. While there are many hikes, scrambles, and rock climbs, most are well traveled.

Joseph Family Foods and Terminal Gravity Brewery’s seasonal Alpenfest Ale will be featured at the festival’s four main performances at the historic Edelweiss Inn at Wallowa Lake.

The popular Alpine Art, Antique and Craft Fair will be located at the Edelweiss Friday through Sunday. Enterprise will host a Main Street procession to the courthouse gazebo for the traditional opening ceremony on Thursday. Everyone is invited to join in rather than watch from the sidewalk. VIPs include Robert Manicke, German honorary consul, and local luminaries. After the opening ceremony, Terminal Gravity will host the ceremonial tapping of the first keg of Alpenfest Ale, followed by the popu-

lar “Accordions at Alpenfest,” featuring visiting accordionists. Accordionists also will play at the Joseph Visitor Center on Main Street on Saturday. For details and a complete schedule: oregonalpenfest.com. For questions: 541-426-ALPS (2577)

Welcome To Boyer Park! Welcome To Boyer Park! Located in Southeast Washington on the historic Snake River and Lewis-Clark Trail, are 80 acres of immaculate park and river area. Boyer Park boasts a swimming area, boat launch, RV Park, tent sites, motel rooms, grill, deli, and groceries. A great getaway for an hour, day, weekend, or week. The park is Open Year Round. The many recreational opportunities

include boating, fishing, hunting, a bike/jogging path and historical information and sites. There is something for everyone in the family. Located less than 30 minutes south of Colfax and Pullman WA and less then 2 hours south of Spokane WA, this location is a must see. On your drive, you will see views of the many farming crops in the area, while this park has views

of the hills that Lewis and Clark encountered on their westward trek. Of course, you will see the beauties of nature. Deer, geese, quail, hawks, and an occasional Elk will cross your path, either in the park or across the river in their natural habitat. The river is an ancient highway for schools of Steelhead returning from their time at sea. We host travelers from

around the world, who enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, amid the cleanliness and comforts of home. Most comment on our mild temperatures for this region, as our location in the valley provides a 10-15° temperature advantage. You can arrive

by car, or by boat as we are connected via the Snake River to Oregon, and the Pacific Ocean. On the water are the barges moving wheat and logs from the area down the river to Portland Oregon and to markets world wide.
