AUGUST 15, 2018

WELCOME RODEO FANS TO THE 84TH LEWISTON ROUNDUP!

Dear Rodeo Fans, Hello Again!! This is Mike Moser and I’m honored to be back as the President of the 84th Lewiston Roundup. Whether this is your 1st Lewiston Roundup or your 84th, my fellow Directors, Staff, Volunteers and Sponsors want to welcome you to this year’s LEWISTON ROUNDUP!! The Lewiston Roundup along with Walla Walla Frontier Days, Kennewick Horse Heaven Round-Up and the Pendleton Round-Up is proud to be celebrating 70 years as members of the Big 4 Rodeo Association. This year we are excited to have 4 nights of Bull Fighters Only. Stay in your seats after the Bull Riding event. You won’t want to miss these insane Bull Fighters! We are also honored with the involvement of the Clearwater River Casino and the Nez Perce Tribe in keeping the Jackson Sundown Saddle Bronc event going strong. Because You “Saddled Up”, You got involved and You supported the events, The Lewiston Roundup Association was able to give back again to area non-profit organizations over $60,000. Keep it going! Stay involved, Stay “Saddled Up”, Volunteer, ask about being a Sponsor. This is the best Community in the Pacific Northwest! A huge THANK YOU to my fellow Directors for making my 2 years of being the President of the Lewiston Roundup Association a GREAT experience. As I said last year, their dedication sometimes goes un-noticed, a hand shake or a fist bump is always appreciated! “Saddle Up….cuz …..She’s Wild”

84TH LEWISTON ROUNDUP GRAND MARSHALL HAL OLSON

Hal spent his formative years learning how to play the guitar, sing country music and auctioneer. He made his first professional appearance in the field of entertainment when he was 17 years old. From his late teenage years into his late-twenties Hal traveled throughout Washington, Idaho, Montana and California with his country music group, the Hal Olson Band. They performed everything from early day western songs to modern day country hits, bringing their own brand of originality to everything they did. It was through Hal’s Montana travels where he would meet his late wife of 51 years, Genevieve. She too shared an interest in all things western, from the nostalgia of early day country music to the excitement of modern day rodeo. He and Gen were married and had three children before moving from California to raise their family with the good people of Lewiston, Idaho. Hal has thoroughly enjoyed entertaining the residents of our community with good country music since 1961. Upon his arrival to Lewiston, Hal spent his weekdays working as a glass glazier for Inland Auto Glass before retiring in 2010. He would spend the majority of his nights and weekends singing at the local clubs and dance halls including the Stables, Elks, Moose and the Eagles. And of course, he was always willing to lend his auctioneer skills when needed. If you ask Hal what his favorite time of year is, he will tell you- “rodeo season”! For 46 years Hal, along with his travel partner Gen, spent summer weekends announcing rodeos throughout the northwest. Hal announced his first rodeo at Asotin in 1965. He has always had a love for the sport of rodeo and a deep respect and admiration for the cowboys and cowgirls who compete. Hal considered it an honor to be associated with the rodeo community and he enjoyed every minute of his involvement in the rugged, exciting sport. His last rodeo announced was Weippe, Idaho in 2011. Hal continues to sing and play guitar at our local community venues. He enjoys spending time in the yard singing the wonderful melodies of the early American West to his greatgrandchildren today. Thank you, Hal, for your commitment to rodeo and all you’ve done for our communities in the northwest!

ANNOUNCER & BARREL MAN WILL RASMUSSEN A smooth, easy-listening voice, solid knowledge of rodeo, and a style that is both entertaining and informative, are the mix of elements that make Will Rasmussen one of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s most popular Rodeo Announcers. His personal knowledge of the sport, sense of humor, and timing blend together for a quality presentation that enhances the rodeo and satisfies the fans. “I guess it’s my sense that you need more than just a rodeo,” he says. “People want to be entertained.” Will joins the Lewiston Roundup for his 17th year.

JJ HARRISON JJ Harrison grew up in Okanogan, Wash., where his love for the rodeo began. He took this love to college and joined the rodeo team as a bull and bronco rider at Washington State University. What makes Harrison a good rodeo clown isn’t that scripted humor or set jokes most clowns use. It’s the off the cuff stuff and spur of the moment quick wit that are his best attributes.

STOCK CONTRACTOR After 30 years in the rodeo business, Sankey Pro Rodeo is exploring new horizons yet again. Spring boarding off his years as a rodeo contestant at the highest level of the sport, Ike Sankey combined what he had learned about rodeo as a business with his livestock skills and work ethic to create his vision of a rodeo company. Focusing not only on quality livestock but also event production and spectator experience, Sankey Rodeo Company flourished. Over the years the company was blessed with 3 Saddle Bronc of the Year awards, 12 PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year nominations and numerous PRCA and Montana Circuit awards. Additionally, Sankey Rodeo Company livestock 18

is featured annually at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and have been featured on ESPN, USA Today, Western Horseman and CMT. Over $225,000 is won on Sankey Rodeo Company livestock annually. In 2013, Sankey Rodeo Company joined forces with renowned stock contractor Jeff Robinson to create Sankey Pro Rodeo. Jeff was born and raised in Mars Hill North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina. Combining the legacy of Sankey Rodeo Company’s outstanding bucking horses with Jeff Robinson’s world class bulls and a committed focus on fast paced, exciting, family entertainment, Sankey Pro Rodeo is poised to expand the concept of what rodeo can be.

BULLFIGHTERS KALEB BARRETT Kaleb, a licensed practical nurse in Missoula, knows what it’s like to have a couple thousand pounds of angry animal stomping on you. Barrett took up bull riding during his high school years in Whitehall. He attended the University of Montana to ride bulls and earn a degree and then focused on becoming a professional bullfighter and has been fighting bulls since 2007. He was nine times to fight the Montana Circuit Finals. He is thankful to have two professional careers that allow him to help people in need.

NATE JESTES Nate was always drawn to the family ranch and the small farming community where his closest friends were from. Nate pursued his childhood dream of Aviation. and graduated from Montana State University with an Associates Degree in Aviation Technology. During college, Nate was instilled with another life-long passion of Bullfighting. Nate was accepted into the PRCA and his career quickly accelerated. Throughout the last couple of years, Nate has had the opportunity to work and protect cowboys at some of the biggest rodeos in the industry. In 2016 and 2017 Nate was selected by the top 20 bull riders to protect them at the Wrangler National Finals.

JOSH RIVINIUS Josh, a rancher from Elgin, ND, found his true passion when he attended a rodeo school that offered bullfighting. He then developed the skills that would take him to the next level. He now provides one of the most important responsivities in pro rodeo. Cowboy protection. Rivinius says every time cowboys and bullfighters leave the arena unharmed, it is a victory. He has worked the Pro Rodeo Tour Finale twice and is a mainstay at the College National Finals. He has been selected 11x by the bull riders to work the Badlands Circuit Finals as well as 2 times to the Ram National Circuit Finals.
