on’t you just love winter? What a joy it is to play outside all day long and then return home to be welcomed by the most delicious of aromas: comfort food. Here are some suggestions that are bound to please young and old alike after a day of winter activities. 7 Lunch: French onion soup What could be better than a bowl of French onion soup for warming you up? Every spoonful melts in your mouth in this simple yet decadent dish. To add a touch of originality use gruyere, parmesan, emmental, or gouda cheese. And don’t forget the croutons! 7 Snack: Maple taffy For anyone with a sweet tooth, a bit of homemade maple taffy is the ultimate in guilty pleasures, and it’s simple to make as well. Just boil some authentic maple syrup over low heat until it reaches a temperature of 2390 F, and then pour it over a rectangular

dish of packed snow to create strips a few inches long. Roll up the taffy on wooden sticks or small spoons, and Bob’s your uncle! 7 Supper: Fondue A great meal for winter evenings, there’s nothing like a fondue to satisfy all concerned. For hearty appetites, why not offer the height of foody delight: a trio of fondues, starting with an appetizer cheese fondue, a hot broth fondue as the main course, and a chocolate one for dessert. Pure heaven! 7 Dessert: Hot chocolate How about ending your day on a high note by concocting a succulent chocolate drink to quell that bedtime craving? Add a bit of whipped cream, marshmallows, and a spoonful of a flavored liqueur; there’s nothing too good for your hot chocolate! And how about a movie with that?
