A transportation service that operated shuttle services at Syracuse University has closed. A letter was posted on the front of Caz Limo’s East Syracuse headquarters Wednesday explaining that the company has closed after 13 years, according to a Feb. 19 News Channel 9 article. The letter gave no explanation for the closure other than the company’s “financial situation.” Kevin Quinn, senior vice president for public affairs at SU, said in a statement that the university was notified of Caz Limo’s plans to close and made arrangements to maintain transportation for students. “Syracuse University did receive advance notification from Caz Limo about service disruption on our James Street, Nob Hill, and Warehouse bus routes,” Quinn said. “We worked with two other vendors, including Centro, on replacement transportation to ensure see caz

PATRICK HECKMANN finishes a layup around C.J. Fair and Jerami Grant. Boston College ended the No. 1 Orange’s undefeated season on Wednesday night with a 62-59 overtime win in the Carrier Dome. SU shot just 32.3 percent in another poor shooting night. sterling boin staff photographer

Boston College upsets Fair struggles mightily Syracuse for 1st loss in 7-of-23 performance By David Wilson staff writer

yracuse’s final shot was one of desperation, but that hadn’t stopped it from going in before. With six seconds left against Boston College, Trevor Cooney, who had made just one 3-pointer in the game, chucked up an off-balance 3 from the top of the key. Only this time there was no improbable swish, just the clang of leather on iron. The final seconds, which have been so kind to Syracuse this season, finally betrayed the Orange.

In the last 30 seconds alone, C.J. Fair missed a jumper, Tyler Ennis nearly committed a boneheaded turnover and Cooney bricked a potential game-tying 3. “We should’ve had two or three more losses the last three games,” Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim said, “but we’ve just made unbelievable, tough plays at the end of games and the other teams miss shots or make mistakes.” On Wednesday, though, Boston College (7-19, 3-10 Atlantic Coast) made those plays. Olivier Hanlan scored a game-high 20 points, see boston

C.J. Fair had already taken seven shots from the field through 10-plus minutes. He hit one of them. The Syracuse forward, who has been SU’s go-to option all season, never got into a rhythm against Boston College. After hitting two crucial shots against Pittsburgh and the gamewinner to beat N.C. State last week, Fair was ineffective when SU needed him most on Wednesday night.

“C.J. goes 7-of-23,” SU head coach Jim Boeheim said, “it’s surprising we’re in the game.” Fair finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds, but took 23 shots — which is as many as Jerami Grant, Trevor Cooney and Rakeem Christmas took combined. His poor performance magnified No. 1 Syracuse’s (25-1, 12-1 Atlantic Coast) offensive futility in a 62-59 overtime loss to Boston College (7-19, 3-10) in the Carrier Dome, its first of the season. Syracuse shot just 32.3 percent overall. Though Fair kept the see fair page 18
