The rally will take place at Landmark Aviation Hangar Building #113, located at 248 Tuskegee Rd., according to the release. The event is open to the public and no tickets are required. “Dan is honored to have President Clinton’s endorsement,” said Marc Brumer, Maffei’s campaign spokesman. “It is a strong validation of his commitment to rebuild the middle class, create jobs and get Central New York’s economy moving again.” Maffei is running against Republican incumbent Ann Marie Buerkle and Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum for the congressional seat. The race is a rematch of the 2010 election, in which Buerkle unseated Maffei by less than 700 votes, according to the Siena Research Institute. Clinton endorsed Maffei in 2010 at a rally that was also held at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

As he campaigns to take back his Congressional seat, Democratic challenger Dan Maffei casts himself as a champion of the middle-class. “Growing up on the Eastside, he saw the struggle first-hand, working at his family’s small business, trying to make it. And though he wasn’t there long, he saw what’s wrong with Washington,” according to one of Maffei’s TV commercial ads. In a commentary on Syracuse.com by Maffei on Aug. 19, he described his position this way: “Here in Central New York we

Before last spring, Ursula Rozum didn’t own a car. She traveled around Syracuse almost exclusively on her bicycle, made of a worn blue frame and pink handlebars. “It’s good for your wallet, good for the planet and good for your body,” Rozum said. Now Rozum cruises around the state in a beat-up pickup truck, a campaign sticker between the spokes of her back bicycle tire as the Green Party candidate for New York’s 24th Congressional District. Rozum, 28, faces U.S. Rep. Ann Marie

For U.S. Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle, talking to voters is at the heart of her work in Congress. “It’s what we owe the voters,” said Buerkle (R-Onondaga Hill). “They deserve to have access to their representatives as their elected officials.” Buerkle, 61, represents the newly drawn 24th Congressional District. She faces Democrat Dan Maffei of DeWitt, who lost the seat to Buerkle in 2010, and Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum of Syracuse in the Nov. 6 election.
