NEW POSTERS FOR ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE RELEASED By Zack Benz Daily Planet

New posters for Zack Snyder’s Justice League were revealed to d ay. T h e p o s te rs , which are shown here and on page four, depict a more in-tone version of the worlds greatest heroes, reecting the directors overarching vision for DC Comics’ cinematic universe. Snyder’s highly sought after cut of "Justice League" will be four hours long. It will be the longest superhero movie to date. The highly anticipated “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” lm will be released to HBO Max on March 18, 2021. After the planet wide #ReleaseTheSnyderCut m o v e m e n t , H B O Max and Warner Bros. Pictures announced last year that it will exclusively world premiere Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of the Warner Bros. dreds of millions of social media mentions, it became a powerful global movement among cinephiles and comic book fans alike. Zack Snyder’s cut of the 2017 op is said to b e a co m p l e te 1 8 0 from the theatrical version. Something many fans appreciate after reshoots, creative direction and so much more let them down. Release the Snyder Cut originated in late 2017 and early 2018, immediately following “Justice League’s” premier in theaters. During the lms shooting, Warner Bros. hired Marvel Cinematic Universe alum, Joss Whedon onto the lm in order to help sway it into the studio’s ideal creative direction. Soon after Whedon’s hiring, Snyder took a leave of absence from the lm due to a family tragedy, leaving its direction in Whedon’s hands. Whedon directed two months’ worth of reshoots for the lm and creatively remade the picture according to Warner Bros. liking. The result was controversial ratings among fans. Some liked the movie, and many hat-

ed it. Some of this discourse was rooted around Henry Cavil’s mustache debacle and some disappointment was also shrouded by the updated writing and storyline for the movie. Secrets from the set reshoots have also surfaced in the wake of Whedon’s critical op. Cyborg actor Ray Fisher Fisher commented on Whedon’s on-set treatment of cast and crew members of Justice League in early July stating the director was “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.” According to Fisher, former WB co-president of production Jon Berg, and former DC Entertainment president, chief creative ofcer Geoff Johns, and current WB President Walter Hamada “enabled” Whedon. Warner has since launched a third part investigation taking remedial action. Back in 2017, Justice League was deemed a critical op. Now, over three years after the initial release, fans and actors alike are getting the Justice League they deserve.

The truth behind Zack Snyder’s exit from ‘Justice League’ By Brian of Earth-16 Daily Planet Zack Snyder’s brave decision to leave his “Justice League” directorial duties was because he wanted to focus on family after a heart-breaking tragedy. The news of director Zack Snyder leaving the “Justice League” lm due to his daughter’s suicide shocked fans in the comicbook entertainment world. Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter delivered the grim news on May 22, 2017 that director Zack Snyder and his wife Deborah Snyder, who was also producer, were stepping down f rom post-production of “Justice League. Years later, Zack Snyder has now candidly revealed his driving reason in an inclusive interview with Sean

tice League.” In his initial statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder had said, “I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me.” The decision to step down from lming a major project was an incredibly brave decision on the director’s part and revealed vulnerability to the world by publicly making the announcement of his Zachary Edward Snyder is an American lmmaker. He made his feature lm debut in 2004 with a remake of the 1978 horror lm Dawn of the Dead. He's most notably recognized by DC fans for his work on "Watchmen" (2009), "Man of Steel" (2013), "Batman vs Superman" (2016) and his upcoming cut of "Justice League" in 2021.

this place of [knowing] my family needs me more than this bullshit, and I just need to honor them and do the best I can to heal that world.” The director added that he had no energy left to ght for his vi-

sion for the lm after the heart-breaking tragedy and loss he experienced. In those extraordinary and s o b e r i n g c i r c u mstances, Zack Snyder was absolutely right to step down from postproduction of the “Jus-

heavy decision. In this dif cult case, the mantra of ‘The show must go on!’ is shown to not always apply. Zack Synder appropriately put his role as father before his work role as lm-maker. His daughter, Autumn Snyder, was just 20years-old when she passed away after her b a tt l e w i t h m e n t a l health. In upending moments like these, all Continued on Page 3

Zack Snyder’s exit continued from Page 1 the rest of the world becomes trivial, and what matters most is coping and comforting close contacts of family and friends. As part of their press release to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner B r o s . e n l i s te d J o s s Whedon of “Avengers” fame to nish the postproduction on the “Justice League” lm. Whedon replaced the music composer Junkie XL with Danny Elfman, a move that was roundly derided, as Elfman’s last-minute score was considered to not be up to snuff. The post-production headache laid the seeds of many issues that would surface later, including the lm’s lackluster box of ce performance and legacy. On July 1st, 2020, Ray Fisher strongly condemned several Warner Bros. gures including replacement director Joss Whedon, comicbook writer Goeff Johns, and producer Jon Berg for gross mistreatment during the post-production of “Justice League”. Welcome to the Planet

By Zack Benz Daily Planet The Daily Planet is where heroes are born and the story continues. The world’s greatest stories start here. Reporting on the planet daily. Growing up I’ve always been inspired by the Daily Planet. Not just the newspaper, but the people who brought it to life. Lois Lane, Clark Kent and Perry White have always been icons to me. Their profession was a noble one to aspire to. In recent years journalism has come under re. The reputable career has been frac-

tured, shattered in the halls of justice in which it once stood undeterred. But, much like the Daily Planet in comics, journalism is a triumphant creature that always pieces itself together, emerging forth from the ashes to expose any form of corruption that cripples society. This is why I chose this career. This is why I brought the Daily Planet out of the pages of DC Comics and into reality. I wanted to reassure weary readers with an already reputable source. I wanted to create a community news organization on a global scale. I wanted

to create a community news organization on a global scale. I wanted to change the world. In the times of fear and confusion, the job of informing the public is the responsibility of the Daily Planet. A g rea t m e t ro p o l i t a n newspaper who’s reputation for clarity and truth had become a symbol of hope for the city of Metropolis. It’s my life dream to have it shine in a similar light to so many around the world. Housed in the fabled Artdeco masterpiece in the heart of Metropolis, the Planet always had its nger on the pulse of information. And the

Daily Planet Building? How could anyone gaze at its familiar ringed globe and not be moved? Its modest facade belied the Planet’s towering ambition and commitment to journalistic integrity. Its basement printing presses whirred tirelessly, day and night, to bring the ink-stained news of the city, the nation and the world into the hands of every citizen. As Metropolis grew, so too did the Daily Planet, both in its physical presence and worldwide reputation. The Planet served as a constant reminder that truth, justice and the

American way must always be safeguarded. And any threat –– domestic, foreign or alien –– be constantly held up to the light. Even when it meant being a target itself. The Daily Planet always persevered. As we progress further into the 21st century, we gain access to a multitude of resources to better tell a story. There are so many options for telling a story, we utilize them all. Consider joining our team and accompanying us on this ever-growing adventure. After all, the Daily Planet is where heroes are born, and the story continues.

You are never too old (or young!) to learn something new and when I found out about this book by DC Comics I knew I was going to have an adventure reading it. I love science and I love comics so when you combine those two topics you get an explosion of fun and i n f o r m a t i o n . “ F l a s h Facts” is DC’s newest middle grade graphic n o v e l a n d i t t a ke s readers aged eight to 12 (and older fans!) on 10 fun adventures. Also, when you are nished enjoying the book there are projects you can do at home. I would have loved this book when I was in school. The anthology is curated by “Big Bang Theory” star, author, and scientist Mayim Bialik, PhD, and is written and drawn by some of the biggest names in middle grade and comics publishing including Varian Johns o n ( T w i n s ) , C e c i l Castellucci (Shade, the Changing Girl), Kirk S c r o g g s ( S n o o p Troop, The Secret Spiral of Swamp Kid), Michael

N o r t h r o p ( T o m b Quest, Dear Justice League), Isaac Goodhart (Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale). A lot of talent and a lot of science! A rst of its kind for DC, “Flash Facts” is a unique pairing of STEM, comics and DC Super Heroes. The book provides a helpful bridge between lessons taught inside the classroom and our everyday lives by demonstrating some of the most kid-approved subjects like virtual reality, 3-D printing, forensics, space and so much more, through iconic DC characters like Batman, the Flash, Supergirl and Cyborg who use STEM as part of their hero identity. In the age of at-home learning, parents and teachers can feel at e a s e g i v i n g “ F l a s h Facts” to their aspiring superheroes knowing the book was vetted by a team of educational experts to ensure scienti c accuracy. After reading, kids and families can put their newfound STEM knowledge to the test with a collection of fun, superheroic science experiments at the back of the book.

It was hard for me to pick a favourite story out of the book as each one had it’s own gorgeous art style to look at and lessons to learn. My youngest Niece Of Steel will love this book and I am considering buying a lab-coat to wear so I can host some online science sessions. The book will help me out for sure! Mayim Bialik PHD did a fantastic job with editing this book and I could hear her wise words in my ears when I was reading it. Science Fiction meets

Science Facts! I hope DC releases more of these anthologies in the future as I want to learn more about other heroes and villains and how the world works.
