Happy New Year, and warmest greetings as we begin 2018!
While I am personally not making them for myself, I am applying New Year’s resolutions for Ettalong Diggers on behalf of the Board of Directors and management team. ‘New ideas, renovations, refurbishments and perfecting our catering are our goals for 2018’ With the New Year comes new opportunities and Ettalong Diggers is looking forward to creating new ideas to meet our customers’ needs and requests. We want to continue to be the best and provide quality customer service and positive experiences consistently to all our members and guests. In 2018 we are embarking on some wonderful changes, challenges and goals with a newly appointed team of Directors. Sound the fanfare! It’s with great pleasure that we announce the new Board of Directors for Ettalong Diggers – Michael Duffy, Joy Conroy and Tim Johnson. They join Judy Gribble (Deputy Chairman) and John Wood (Chairman). We honor and thank Luke Parsons and Mel Saunders for their immense service on the board as they step down and also Stephen Karsai who resigned before the end of his term. We’re so grateful for everything they have done and everything they continue to do for the Peninsula community.

The major refurbishments and renovations will take place during February with an expected conclusion in July. We are taking great measures to implement these changes in stages so that they will in no way inconvenience or cause disruption to our members and guests experience to the club.

2018 will also see Ettalong Diggers continuing to do what we feel we do best, being involved in and supporting our community. All the initiatives we have in place will continue to grow and there will be many more exciting projects we are looking forward to creating and completing successfully. Happy New Year to all our Members and Guests – feel confident Ettalong Diggers will be ticking off goals in line with our 2018 resolutions!
Mr JOHN WOOD
We have just finished another year of unpredictable change in the world we live in. It seems like every year just goes faster and the changes in technology, business and traditions are constantly being redefined. The club industry’s competitive landscape is also changing significantly, including the catering side of clubs and at Ettalong Diggers we working hard to meet the needs of our members and guests in regards to our menu options. Our Vision and Challenges Despite the sometimes challenging changes to our industry, our long-term vision remains unchanged—we still aim to be your ‘destination of choice for lifestyle, hospitality and entertainment’. Our main challenges also remain unchanged from last year: •
Renovate interior and upgrade furniture to move the club more into the future.
•
Maintain and continue to improve our catering department to meet the needs of our members and guests.
•
Continued training in customer service, communication and technical skills of our personnel to ensure sustainable growth.
•
Continued communication between our Senior Management team and Board of Directors to ensure the club is working effectively and consistently for and in the community.
Looking Ahead Our current situation shows that we are on target and heading in a very positive direction in all areas of the club in 2018, and I want to convey this to you. We are forecasting a full-year of success and growth. It is important to all our team that this year produces tangible and positive results. In closing, please accept my very best wishes to you and your family for a prosperous 2018!

The only Blues Brothers show to be officially sanctioned by Dan Ackroyd and wife of the late John Belushi, Judith Belushi. Together, they created ‘The Blues Brothers Revival’.
The Official Blues Brothers Revue combines the comedy, music and mayhem from the original movie, as well as songs from the popular albums put out by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. It is a faithful recreation of the characters, Jake and Elwood, played with the same soul and conviction of the original Blues Brothers Band.

An exclusive event where you can see and meet authors introducing their books in their own words. Gail Bell is an Australian author of short stories, two non-fiction books, travel writing, book reviews, critical essays and long form journalism. Her books and essays have won acclaim and prizes. Bell began publishing short stories and journalism for specialty magazines in the 1990s. Her first book, The Poison Principle became a bestseller and won the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Award for non-fiction in 2002. The Poison Principle is part memoir, part mystery, part journey through the dark corridors of poison history. It took ten years, off and on, to complete, much of that time spent reading through libraries in Australia, America and England—anywhere there was an archive of good poison stories. Her second book, SHOT: A Personal Response to Guns and Trauma was shortlisted for the Nita Kibble Literary Award. Her third major publication, the Quarterly Essay # 18 The Worried Well led to strong public responses and national debate. Bell’s journalism has appeared in many newspapers and magazines, in Australia and overseas. She has written for The New York Times and the UK Sunday Telegraph Special Members Only exclusive - receive a complimentary copy of an Australian novel from AVIP on arrival. for a
