From the CEO

From the CHAIRMAN

It seems like the last of the summer weather is behind us - our warmest thanks go out to all who worked through the heatwaves who continued to deliver the needs and services to our community.

2017 has already been a very successful year for the club, and we are very excited about what the rest of the year has in store for all of us.

The year has started off well and I believe that thanks to the dedication of our team, we are well placed to respond to the challenges we have set ourselves. We have made significant progress during 2017 as we continue to build on the value we bring to our members, guests and communities. They remain at the heart of everything we do.

Our history is our most treasured asset and the foundation on which we have built this club. Everyone knows that the only way to protect and improve Ettalong Diggers is to exceed our members and guests expectations, meet our commitments, innovate in our business and deliver excellence.

Mr Bill Jackson

Ettalong Diggers makes a real difference in people's lives and has a lasting impact on our growing community. In turn our community have helped make Ettalong Diggers strong. This year we are announcing a far-reaching realignment of the club when on May 3rd, after many years of the club having contract caterers, Ettalong Diggers will take back control of the catering department. This announcement will enable us to execute even better on our strategy to deliver a catering experience and service that best empowers the people of our community. I know the catering changes taking place can be distracting, but we will remain focused on what we do best: providing the best experiences for our members and guests every time they visit. This club has always had a big vision — to be the destination of choice for lifestyle, hospitality and entertainment and we are only just realising our full potential. In the earliest days, it was by providing an affordable and safe venue where our families and friends could come together socially. We’ve come farther than we could have imagined. The impact we have collectively made on the community is undeniable, and I am inspired when our team constantly comes up with ideas and visions to improve what we do — that’s what we do today, and that’s what we’ll do tomorrow. It is also clear to me and our management team that we must do an extraordinary job to succeed in this competitive industry. We have delivered many great changes already and had much success, but we want more. That means better execution and innovation right through every department. It also means operational excellence in all areas. To advance our vision and execute more quickly, more efficiently, and with greater excellence we need to transform how we organize, how we plan, how we communicate and how we work. This equates to lots of change. But in all of this, many key things remains the same. Our incredible team, our spirit, our commitment, our belief in the transformative power of community — to make the community a better, safer and secure place for all of us. It’s why I come to work inspired every day. It’s why we’ve evolved before, and why we’re evolving now. Because we’re not done…. Now it’s time to get to work…. W.J (Bill) Jackson Chief Executive Officer

Mr JOHN WOOD

This will be a year of growth and new opportunities for everyone at Ettalong Diggers. At our January board meeting, my fellow Board of Directors and Mr Bill Jackson, made the unanimous decision to not renew the current catering contract, but rather the club will now take ownership of the catering division as of the 3rd May 2017. This is a big undertaking. It touches nearly every part of what we do and how we work. It changes our basic structure, the way we collaborate, how we communicate, how we best empower our employees and how we market. There are economic, competitive, and operational influences pushing and pulling on us constantly. In order to continue to succeed, we will need to adjust and adapt to these external influences just as we have done over the past years. In our industry, every day brings more challenges and more opportunities than the day before. We have a unique chance to make the lives of many people better in fundamental ways. We want people who get up each morning excited to make Ettalong Diggers better — that’s how we come closer to fulfilling the potential of our community. Across Ettalong Diggers, we are facing incredible new opportunities. As social media and technology become further integrated into everyday life, we will have to create new and extraordinary experiences for our customers. We are going to focus on reinventing traditional experiences, like what it means to communicate socially with family and friends. We are going to immerse people in fabulous food, wonderful entertainment and fun promotions that will let them forget about all their technology and troubles….. if only for a while. And as we develop Ettalong Diggers, we will also continue to support and serve our community….that is always our motivation and commitment. John Wood Chairman

It’s time for a “Cool Change” on the Peninsula… Ettalong Diggers presents:

GLENN SHORROCK

Glenn’s musical career spans five decades. He has played a significant role in Australian music for 45 years and and was lead singer for The Twilights (from the 60s), Axiom (from the early 70’s) and, of course, LRB (from the 70s and early 80s). The touring days of LRB, saw him performing in front of 85,000 people. “We did a lot of huge shows. That’s still a strong memory.”

As a testament to his enduring talent he has been twice inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame first in 1991 in his own right and again with The Little River Band in 2004.
