GENERAL MANAGER REPORT

Welcome to Spring! We have everything that you need to get away from those Winter Blues. Construction work on the Snooker Room, Bowlers’ Facilities, Terrace and BBQ is now complete. GLC your Club can now boast one of the best facilities of its type in the Sydney Region. The room has been praised by Top Ranking Snooker and Billiards players who have been thrilled to enjoy top class action in a fabulous environment. Check it out for yourself. Commencing Saturday 1 September, you can swipe your Membership card and start gaining entries into our next series of Promotions. The highlight in November, will be your chance to

0403 185 747 • chuckyB42@optusnet.com.au 0421 023 275 • jum102@optusnet.com.au 0418 404 146 • jimtasses@outlook.com

win a Brand-New Mitsubishi Triton GLS. This car will suit both tradies as well as families, with all the features of a work van combined with the luxury of a full-size family car. The best of both worlds and it’s in the Foyer of the Club, take a look next time you join us at your Club. We also have some great entertainment planned, starting with MENTAL AS ANYTHING on Saturday 15 September; October is traditionally time for OCTOBERFEST – this year we have all the sounds and sights of a real Bavarian Beer Hall with our Octoberfest on Sat 20/10; then to round things off we have the ever popular ABBALANCHE on 17 November. Who doesn’t enjoy the music of ABBA! We also welcome those who enjoy a chance to trip the light fantastic (go dancing) with our popular Starbright Band now available for you to enjoy on the second Saturday of the month, in addition to their regular first and third Sundays. And for something new

we are introducing L2 Golden Voice Karaoke on the fourth Saturday of each month. All this in addition to your regular Rock ‘n Roll nights (first Saturday each month) and Trivia every Wednesday, your social calendar will be full to the brim. As you read through the Journal you will notice that we have made some changes to our Raffle Prizes and are introducing Cash Housie every Monday & Friday evening Foodies have not been forgotten, with the intro of Sunday Breakfast from Sunday 16 September onwards. Give Mum a treat and shout her a Cooked Breakfast on Sundays from 0830 onwards. Then there’s Father’s Day and Melbourne Cup with some great opportunities for you to celebrate. There's so much ALAN J CROW happening at your General Manager Club! Guildford Leagues Club

The new snooker room has been opened and it is a sight to 4 tables with ample space for players and spectators to assemble. The Management, Directors organisers and builders have done an incredible job with forethought and planning of the entire area. The tables are available to members of the club with some restrictions when competitions are running. Just as our friendly door person for balls to play.

This year, thanks to the help of two of our wonderful members, Heather Stephens (Club Director) and Margaret Abel, Guildford Leagues Club participated in Do Something Day. We asked for donations to help two very worthy organisations Youth off the Streets and Exodus so we could help young and older people who are homeless. The response we received from the Guildford Leagues Club Community was quite overwhelming and the boxes in the foyer provided to receive these generous donations filled up with tinned food, blankets, underwear, warm clothing, necessary toiletry items along with belts and gloves and other items desperately needed by these organisations. Margaret and Heather were very warmed by the generosity of our members. It was a very proud moment for them when they delivered the items to the needy charities, making all of their hard work feel worthwhile.

IT'S TIME TO #GIVEYOURBEST

Please be advised that there is definitely no food permitted in the room and members and guests alike are expected to treat the tables and equipment properly. If something is broken or damaged please notify management immediately. We want all players to enjoy the facilities and protect what is expensive equipment. Frank Batten Secretary
