GOLF AND SUB-CLUBS 18
Golf News and Centenary We started the year with a bushfire that singed the back fence, then by February the course flooded and now into March we are ready to go head first into celebrating 100 years of golf on this magnificent land! Check out the Golf Fixtures Book for all our Major Centenary of Golf events for the year, however the ones I want to draw your attention to are the events planned in June. Wednesday 17-24 June Centenary of Golf Art and Memorabilia Exhibition Friday 19-21 June Centenary of Golf Tournament (9-hole Hickory on the Saturday) + Catalina Flying Boat Flyover Saturday 20 June Centenary of Golf Gala Dinner Event with comedian and keen golfer Jimeoin as MC plus live entertainment, 3 - course meal in a great Gatsby style event Monday 22 June Catalina Ladies Past and Present Centenary Morning Tea
Pulling out all stops for these events, so would love to see you all there. Batemans Bay ‘Boars’ Rugby Union Club An earlier than usual start to the season as we participated in the Braidwood Bushfire 7s on Saturday 8th Feb, an event organised to replace the annual ‘Braidwood Cup’ which had to be cancelled due to an unsafe track under level 4 water restrictions. 3 grades competed on the day being Senior Men’s, Under 16 Boys and Under 16 Girls (who were crowned champions on the day). Other grades we will be fielding this year include Under 10 boys and girls, Under 12 boys and girls, and Under 14 girls. Registration costs this year will be minimal to assist local families. In great news for the club we will be hosting some major events in March being the Brumbies Runners v Waratahs A March 21st at Hanging Rock and a 20 team Under 16s gala day the following day. Season officially commences on the 18th of April, with the clubs first home game being the 2nd May. Come along and support your local team. We would love to see you there.

Batemans Bay Cricket Club Not much cricket played over past 2 months due to fires, Highway closures and recent heavy rains. The highlights of the season were: Tom Purcell (snr) scoring 105 on the 14th of December 2019 in 3rds and Brett Woolridge 86 in score of 9/264. Next closest: Jamie Prior (93 runs) and Alex Woolridge (84 runs) opening partnership of 176 in 3rds on the 25th of January 2020. And, 2nd grade secured an outright win recently against North Nowra Cambewarra, with Lachlan Malcolm scoring 50 & Steve Knight 45. Legspinner James Dickinson took 4 wickets.
Senior grade team (2nds) currently sitting equal 2nd on ladder, 2 games before finals commence. Both 3rds & 4ths pushing for finals, just sitting outside the top 4. Promising Junior Lachlan Malcolm has been selected in one of two NSW State Under 15 teams to contest National U/15 championships in Ballarat Victoria, commencing Thursday 20th Feb. Among the Juniors; Stage 3 currently 4th on ladder with a bye last game before finals commence 7th March. Stage 2 currently 2nd on ladder with 2 games to go. Cooper Frawley topscored on Saturday with 36 NO in good win over Ulladulla. Stage 1's - both teams competing well each week, but no final series or ladder positions.
