Reagan Campbell-Gillard The man behind the mo
At first glance Reagan Campbell-Gillard is your typical, old-school NRL enforcer. But there is much more to the man with the mo.

for the Panthers in his rookie season. All that is remaining to complete his collection is an NRL Premiership. “I’ve been lucky enough to play in the Holden Cup and NSW Cup Grand Final wins. To get the trifecta and win an NRL Premiership, I can’t possibly explain what that feeling would be like,” Campbell-Gillard said. However it’s not just personal goals that drive the prop from Mt Druitt. Community spirit is something that motivates him every time he pulls on the Panthers jersey. Growing up in the heart of Western Sydney, Campbell-Gillard quickly came to understand what makes the area so special. “The community out here is the best. We’re real people out here and that’s what I love about it,” he said.

It’s not just the homeless who benefit from the work of Street Swags. The swags themselves are manufactured by inmates in Australian prisons, who in turn gain practical skills and TAFE qualifications. This boosts their employment prospects after release, ultimately helping combat the cycle of poverty, crime and homelessness. Swags are then packaged by school “I wanted to do something that children who are taught the importance of giving back to had a positive impact on the lives of those who really needed the community. it,” Campbell-Gillard said. “I really like that this one charity “I came across Street Swags and is helping so many people and I’m really proud to be their was keen to help however I could. They’re doing a lot of good.” His passion for the community has led to him taking on a role as the first-ever ambassador for Street Swags – a charity providing basic shelter to people experiencing homelessness. The organisation was established in 2007 and has provided close to 40,000 swags to people sleeping rough across Australia.

first ambassador,” CampbellGillard said. At just 23 years of age it’s easy to forget Campbell-Gillard is still in the infancy of his career. The no-nonsense way he plays the game and his burning passion for the people of the west invokes memories of a different era, when the Panthers were the chocolate soldiers and rugby league was tribal warfare. Strangely enough, a time and place where that signature moustache of his would look right at home.

Lending a helping hand Making the impossible possible. We help Christ Mission Possible transform lives.
What is Christ Mission Possible? Christ Mission Possible are a local not-for-profit charity group that transforms the lives of thousands of Western Sydney residents by providing support in times of homelessness, abuse, addiction, hunger and crisis. With hundreds of generous volunteers, loyal partners and a driven CEO Martin Beckett, this incredible charity deliver: ✓✓ Essential food to 18,000 people every week ✓✓ 3,000 hot meals to people on the streets every week ✓✓ 2,000 meals to school kids via the Brown Paper Bag program across 20 schools every week ✓✓ Crisis accommodation providing over 60,000 bed nights ✓✓ Assist in rehousing 300 homeless people a year into permanent accommodation every year. With the help of the community, Christ Mission Possible harvests approximately $25 million worth of food each year (that’s 60 tonnes a week) that would otherwise be discarded as landfill. Instead they deliver it to those who need it most across Western Sydney. Despite providing a huge number of hot meals throughout the year, Christ Mission Possible also provides a Food Bank where they equip local charities, churches and community groups to
assist their communities. Plus Free Food Shops allows people to get the necessities they need. How has Panthers Penrith helped? We are very proud to support Christ Mission Possible as part of our ClubGRANTS initiative. Since September 2016, we have: ✓✓ Donated a 3 tonne refrigerated truck to assist in picking up and delivering food ✓✓ Donated gifts of kind from our restaurants ✓✓ Supported the Christ Mission Possible upholstery program which assists members of their community to develop their skills to re-enter the workforce. You can see some of the amazing work in our Squires Terrace Bar well as the front counters at the club. How you can help? Call (02) 4704 8809 or visit cmp.org.au to donate. Alternatively, Christ Mission Possible is hold their first annual fundraising dinner in our marquee on the 22 September 2017. Email events@cmp.org.au to book.
We are proud to have donated $2,208,000 to the community between September 2015 and August 2016.

We chat to Bay City Rollers front man Les McKeown. They were Scotland’s finest. Dressed head-to-toe in the 70s. Women would faint at the mere sight of them and their songs topped the charts as squeaky-clean popsters. Hailed as one of the biggest groups since the Beatles, this iconic original boy-band has sold over 70 million records! Their run of chart hits started in 1974 with Shang-A-Lang (a fan favourite to this day) reaching number 28. In 1975 they had a number one Australian Smash Hit with Bye, Bye Baby. They followed that up with a string of Top 10 hits including Give A Little Love, Money Honey, Saturday Night, Love Me Like I Love You, Rock and Roll Love Letter and I Only Wanna Be With You. They also did a classic cover of John Paul Young’s Yesterdays Hero. The Bay City Rollers were the darlings of the teen set, with sold-out concert tours and hit records. Tartan-mania is back once again to give back to
their fans who have supported them all through the early days. According to frontman Les McKeown, those who attend the show at our EVAN Theatre on 21 July, will be in for a trip down memory lane. The show is full of Bay City Roller hit songs and also has a few new songs from McKeown’s new album ‘Beautiful’. When looking at the list of songs that the band would play for this tour McKeown said “we looked at all the songs that were famous in Australia and we will do all of the hits that the people will recognise in Australia and a couple of favourites from the album tracks.” See Bay City Rollers live in our EVAN Theatre on Friday 21 July. Tickets available at Ticketek or our Reception.
