SCHNEIDER REKINDLES HER LOVE FOR DORIS Melinda Schneider has kicked off her country boots and thrown herself into a stage show paying tribute to one of her musical heroes, Doris Day.
After forging a dazzling country music career that has won her six Golden Guitars, and stunning audiences on Dancing with the Stars, Schneider has taken Australian audiences by surprise.
“There are so many people who just adore Doris, which is no surprise to me, I’m one of them. Everyone has their own favourite tune or film. Doris actually recorded over 600 songs and starred in 39 movie hits.
The Australian favourite’s show has charmed people back into an era of innocence and nostalgia and she is loving every minute of it.
The beauty of the show is that it has Doris’ seal of approval after Melinda sent her a script and has also been vigorously supported by fans, old and new.
“I’ve had so much fun touring around Australia over the past five years singing these songs,” Schneider said.

Schneider cannot wait to bring the Melinda does Doris…Again show to the EVAN Theatre on November 11 and believes it will be a joyful occasion for all.
“Doris made these songs sound effortless but they’re tough, complex and challenging to sing and that’s what I love,” she said. “It’s the amazing, timeless sentiment and vitality of Doris that captures our imagination and hearts. LEITH’S INTERACTIVE DREAM TOUR Damien Leith is ready to relive his “dream” of becoming a singer with his fans as he celebrates the 10th anniversary since winning Australian Idol. The Irish-Australian singer and songwriter won the popular singing competition in 2006 before going on to release eight albums in what he deems as a “dream come true”.
“The show has an interval and even then I have been getting requests on Facebook so it is great. This is all for the fans and it becomes a fun show.”
Now he is ready to take his fans back on his journey with a special show planned for you on December 16.
Leith is eager to come to Penrith where he believes his journey outside of Australian Idol began and is reminding fans to request their songs early.
“I thought I would do a tour where I can do a range of songs from the beginning of my journey until now,” Leith said. “Normally when you go on tour you go on the back of an album and still sing a couple of old songs, but this time I am taking requests. Penrith is my second last show on the tour and it is advertised as being intimate and acoustic. “It is definitely that but we have also decided to bring the whole band so the people of Penrith get the full show.
“I’ve been to Penrith about six or seven times and we’ve had incredible shows there,” he said. “To be honest one of my first shows after Australian Idol was at Penrith and I loved it then and still love it now. “I love the layout where you are on stage looking at everyone but it is still very intimate and that is right down my alley. “Get them requests in, all you have to do is jump on Facebook and send me a message as I want this to be as interactive as possible.” www.facebook.com/damienleith

CJ’s Crab Shack and Grill has perfected the balance of getting your hands dirty while feasting on a range of fresh seafood and Penrith Panthers players are ecstatic. Panthers quartet Dean Whare, Te Maire Martin, Peta Hiku and Sam McKendry took some time away from rehabilitation to enjoy lunch at the new restaurant recently and were immediately impressed. The boys got stuck into the Crab Shack Combo including jumbo shrimp, mussels, crab, Morton Bay bugs, clams, creole sauce with new potatoes, andouille sausage and corn first before turning their attention to the Bar.B.Q Blow Out – a combination of half a chicken, pork ribs and rump steak. After enjoying the meal, Whare said the food was the best he had tried in Penrith. “It was lovely - the seafood was
cooked to perfection, the ribs were nice and juicy,” he said.

The warm temperature is here to stay and Cables Wake Park has you covered for the perfect family day out. The Wake Park, located within the Panthers League Club complex, encompasses a huge range of activities including two main cable lakes where people of all ability levels can waterski, wakeboard or kneeboard as well as a fantastic Aqua Park. Park Manager Kylie Boumeester said there were Cables programs to suit everyone’s needs. “We have private coaching available for $39 per person for a 20 minute session or $90 for 1 Hour,” she said.
