Dolphin Stadium has been in the media recently as we were successful in our bid to host the Commonwealth Rugby League Championship on 23-24 February 2018. Our bid, which was joint with Moreton Bay Region Industry Tourism and the Moreton Bay Regional Council, will see us welcome 10 men’s under 23 teams, four open women’s teams and three physical disabilities teams to Dolphin Stadium. Together with officials and spectators, we expect there to be thousands of visitors to the Peninsula during the week of the event.

DOLPHINS DEVELOPMENT ON THE ROAD AGAIN D
olphins staff were on the road again delivering Development Clinics in regional Queensland in late July, working with country kids and coaches to improve skills and strengthen the game of rugby league in remote areas.
Dolphins CEO Tony Murphy said the regional tours are a Dolphins initiative, supported by the QRL and NRL. “The Dolphins have always had close ties to the country since 1947 and we have been running Development initiatives out west since the 1970s,” he said. Dolphins Development staff hit the road early Tuesday, arriving at Gayndah to work with children from U6-U16 on defensive and skills drills. On Wednesday the team was at Mulgildie State School, holding a Coaching Clinic for all ages, before heading the Springsure to work on skill rotation rugby league drills with Junior Club members. The Dolphins also delivered a Coach Educational Session. On Wednesday the Dolphins pulled into Emerald and conducted training at
the Emerald Cowboys with the U13 boys and girls, Open Girls and Open Men’s teams as well as delivering another Coach Educational Session.
It is our goal to develop these players into Senior Dolphins and give them a shot at playing professionally one day,” he said.
General Manger of Football Grant Cleal said that the Club puts resources into regional Development programs as a way of giving kids in these areas the chance to work with the Dolphins, and to give back to country areas that have given so much to the Dolphins.
Football Operations Manager, Steve Crawford led the team delivering clinics during the week and said that the Dolphins can look forward to seeing more talent come from regional areas in the future. “It never ceases to amaze me how much enthusiasm and talent there is out there,” he said. “And no matter where we go, all the kids know the Dolphins and are right behind our Club.”
“There’s no end to the depth of talent in regional areas and we have had hundreds of players come to Redcliffe from country areas. Redcliffe is ready to play host to the International Rugby League Commonwealth Championship. The competition is to be held at Redcliffe’s revamped 10,000-capacity Dolphins Stadium, in the lead-up to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The Palaszczuk Government has supported the expansion of Dolphin Stadium and hosting this major event further cements Redcliffe as a key sporting and tourism destination.
The competition will draw tourists from across the globe to Redcliffe, providing a great economic boost for local business. e have the perfect Sunday morning planned for you and the family. Dolphins Health Precinct has covered everything from extremely exciting & fun activities for the kids to markets and demos for the folks.
aquatic centre. We have continued with the theme and we have plenty of inflatable rides in order to create little races, challenges and tasks for the young ones to try out. The pool will be closed to public swimming until after 1pm so it can be utilised for the Open Day Pool Party Event. We will have Lifeguards on duty for this event however all children must be supervised by a parent or guardian to be allowed entry if they are under 12 years of age. At Dolphins Health Precinct, safety is paramount.
On the 8th October 2017 we will be hosting the largest inflatable ‘Obstacool’ Course to hit Redcliffe which will coincide with our Open Day markets and Pool Party. The ‘Obstacool Course’ is made up of huge inflatable obstacles including wedges, tyre runs, walls, tunnels, commando nets and the Big Bopper which is over 40 metres long. The course is designed for children over 4 years or age and parents can also release their inner-child and have a little fun together on the course enjoying this as a family. We do recommend that young children be accompanied by their parent where possible. The ‘Obstacool Course’ is designed to be accessed in scheduled wave times. Your ticket will give you access to the course for 45 minutes where you can re-run the course as many times as your body will let you in that 45 minute access time! Tickets are available online from our Dolphins Health Precinct website and also give you access to the Open Day Market and DHP Pool Party. We also invite babies between 8 weeks of age and children under 2 years and their parents to register for our FREE Aqua Rhyme Time class. This gives young babies and new families the chance to see how a water familiarisation class is conducted with an instructor. Learn informative and proven skills in this class which can establish positive water confident relationships creating the bedrock for all future learn to swim & water safety lessons. This class will go for 30 minutes and is held in our 33 degree heated indoor hydrotherapy pool. The Open Day Aqua Rhyme Time event will be held at 10:30am Sunday 8th October and we ask that you pre-register your name as there will be an attendance limit to this class.
