Although the rural community of orp northwest of Ellensburg is easily accessed from Interstate 90, most of it is far enough away from the freeway and deep into the rural area of the Kittitas Valley to provide a unique mix of farm and ranch lands, quiet country homes with accompanying acreage, and small niche agricultural operations including organic farms.

At the orp Mill the old grist mill is nearly fully equipped just as it was when it stopped operating in 1946, is maintained as a major tourist destination by the nonpro t orp Mill Town Historical Preservation Society. For visitors, there are self-guided outdoor tours available year-round and guided indoor tours from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
