"I'M LIT" The EP LISTEN NOW
AUS From none other than the "City of
10
Angels" comes a dope hip-hop artist who goes by the name AUS10. This Los Angeles native has aspirations for a big future in music, and he's grinding his way to making his dreams come true.
It was at the age of 14 that this young prodigy began to dabble in the musical pond. He was motivated by a number of factors, from freestyling with his friends in school and in the neighborhood, to being a huge fan of Wiz Khalifa to the point of being compared to him. But the most notable factor of all for AUS10 would be Kendrick Lamar's 2012 "Good Kid M.A.A.D. City" album. To this day Kendrick Lamar is still one of AUS10's biggest musical inspirations whom he also had the pleasure of actually meeting in person. Other artists who've inspired AUS10 musically include J.Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne.
This LA rapper created his first studio recording at about 15, full of big dreams and influenced by the love and attention received by successful rappers in the game. Being around music for as long as he can remember, he's witnessed the impact good music can have on people. So being the dreamer that he is, AUS10 wrote his first song and hasn't stopped creating since. Exercising his versatility, he has worked with all types of beats and created a variety of different sounds of music. He's written songs for the club, songs for the lyrical listener, and even old school rap vibe songs. He's spoken about everything he can think of from love, relationships and hurt to everything he's been through, done and seen.
So far this hip-hop Mozart has opened up for Migos, 03 Greedo, and Ty Dolla Sign, but this is just the beginning for AUS10. With performances happening all over Los Angeles and his most recently released project titled "10pm" streaming on all major sites, AUS10's grind is on 100 with no brake lights in sight. His goal list is heavy, consisting of creating more musical content, releasing more visuals, staying busy with shows, and building new relationships until he's offered the record deal that will change his life. AUS10 has been seen with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock , Slink Johnson (From the TV Show Black Jesus), Suga Free & Nipsey Hussle, but the way his determination is set up, that list is destined to grow tremendously.

TUNECHI EXCLUSIVE
His enormous contribution to the hip-hop world is just as undeniable as his remarkable talent. The Louisiana native who started as a pint-sized rapper and made his way to the top of the charts is deemed by many the most exciting rapper of his generation. Everything about Lil Wayne is distinctively iconic, from his tattooed face, signature dreadlocks, and diamond grillz, to his trademark slurred southern drawl. His witty rhymes are as extreme as his subject matter, ranging from rapid-fire rap about money, women and gunplay, to emotionallycharged songs about love and personal pain. With a wealth of recorded material spanning the rap, rock and pop genres, Lil Wayne has attained a level of greatness that hardly anyone could have expected.
25 years ago, history was made in the music
world when Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. Was discovered at age 11 by Bryan "Birdman" Williams, owner of Cash Money Records. Named after his biological father, Wayne made the decision to drop the "D" in Dwayne to disassociate himself from his absentee father. Abandoned by his father at the age of 2, Wayne was raised by his mother, Jacida Carter, who did the best she could raising a child in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans. Luckily, Wayne's childhood wasn't void of a father figure. Reginald "Rabbit" McDonald, Wayne's stepfather, filled the patriarchal role in his life, but was murdered before Wayne's rise to stardom. The young superstar-in-the-making wrote his first rap song at age 8. His hunger and persistence made an early appearance, and he began recording freestyle raps on Bryan Williams' answering machine, trying to get his attention. His tactics were successful, and led to Birdman becoming his mentor and signing him to the label. What would seem like a period of hope and promise for the youngster wasn't without it's dark moments. At the age of 12, Wayne shot himself in the chest with his mother's 9mm handgun, only admitting many years later that the incident was a deliberate suicide attempt. Although he was an honor student, Wayne dropped out of McMain Magnet School at the age of 14 to focus on a career in music. As the youngest Cash Money artist, Weezy joined the southern rap group Hot Boys in 1996 with labelmates Juvenile, Turk, and B.G. The rap group's biggest breakthrough came with their platinum selling album "Guerilla Warfare" in 1999, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart, and a single in that same year titled "Bling Bling". Lil Wayne soon became the flagship solo artist of Cash Money Records and remained so for many years before ending his relationship with the label in 2018. His debut solo album, " Tha Block is Hot", was released when he was 17 and earned him a Source Magazine nomination for "Best New Artist". It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified platinum. His subsequent albums "Lights Out" in 2000 and
"500 Degrees" in 2002 both went gold, but failed to match the success of his debut. In the summer of 2004, Wayne released "Tha Carter" which gained Weezy, also known as Tunechi, much deserved recognition, and marked what critics considered to be an advancement in his delivery style and lyrical themes. The follow-up to "Tha Carter", "Tha Carter II", was released in December of 2005, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and selling over 2,000,000 copies worldwide. That same year, Wayne was named the president of Cash Money Records and also started Young Money Entertainment as an imprint of Cash Money. However, he stepped down from management of both two years later. In 2006, Lil Wayne and Birdman came together to create one of the biggest collaborations of the year. They dropped the album "Like Father, Like Son", with the first single "Stuntin' Like My Daddy" reaching No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. From 2006 to 2007 Tunechi provided the hip-hop world with a plethora of mixtapes and guest appearances on a number of hip-hop and pop singles. He appeared on tracks with the music world's elite, including Fat Joe, Chris Brown, T.I., Akon, Lloyd, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Enrique Iglesias. By the end of 2007, GQ Magazine named Wayne " Workaholic of the Year", and an MTV poll named him the "Hottest MC in the Game".
June 10, 2008 marked the release of "Tha Carter III", with sales reaching over one million in the first week. The first single "Lollipop" became his most successful yet, becoming his first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album won four Grammys and went two times platinum. It was 2008's best selling record, selling over 3,000,000 copies. That year Wayne earned 12 nominations at the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards, of which he won 8, including the "MVP" title. Weezy was also named the first MTV Man of the Year.. From 2009 to 2014, Wayne made it rain on the hip-hop game, releasing a wealth of material including a number of mixtapes, albums, singles and features. However, releasing "Tha Carter V" was met with quite a bit of difficulty. Although initially scheduled to drop on May 5, 2014, the 5th installment of Tha Carter series was delayed numerous times. The push back was largely due to disagreements and tensions between Wayne and Birdman, which ultimately led to Wayne suing Birdman and Cash Money Records for $51 million in January 2015. "Tha Carter V" however, was finally released on September 27, 2018. It was the second-largest streaming week for an album, reaching 433 million streams. Lil Wayne's successful career is littered with drug use and legal troubles, rap beefs and jail time, but his health has also made major headlines for the rap prodigy. On October 25, 2012, Weezy's LA-bound private jet made an emergency landing in Texas due to a seizure he suffered on-board. The next day proved to be a repeat of the same episode when Wayne suffered a second seizure and was forced to land the jet early yet again. After having a number of seizures that the public became privy to, the rapper brought to light in a 2013 interview his ongoing battle with epilepsy.
Now with his legal battles behind him, the Louisiana mogul has announced that he is now the sole owner of Young Money Entertainment. As the sole owner, Weezy claims to now be in a position to make even greater things happen for his label's two most lucrative artists, Drake and Nicki Minaj. Previously discussing retirement, Tunechi now feels like he may never retire from making music. But even if the multi-platinum MC never recorded another song, the amount of work that he has flooded the music scene with is massive. The list of artists he's worked with could go on almost as long as the list of people he has inspired. From the millions of fans around the world, to the horde of aspiring rappers, to his four amazing children, Wayne is a timeless inspiration. His cocky but humble spirit is infectious, and his insane work ethic is awe-inspiring to say the least. With a personality that's as unique and quirky as his style, Weezy is definitely one-of-a-kind. Love him or hate him, you have to respect him. The man, the artist, the father, the mogul, the mentor, the innovator, the icon, the one and only, Lil Wayne.

MULA
M O N A
From across the international seas, all the way from Leiderdorp in The Netherlands, comes a superbly talented young lady who goes by the name of Mona Mula. This young superstar in the making is not only the perfect combination of beauty and brains, but she also possesses a huge amount of talent as well. A self-proclaimed science nerd, Mona Mula has proven that she can master any venture she puts her mind to, taking the music scene by storm with versatility, style, grace, and a touch of "bad ass".
Hey Mona Mula, tell us a little bit about what led you to the world of music making. I'm still a new-born baby in the industry haha. I've literally only been doing this since May 2018. However, as a kid I took guitar lessons and I still do write songs on my guitar every nowq and then. I wrote my first song when I was 10, I remember it was called "Jesse." I can't remember the exact reason why it was called that, I probably got my inspiration from a movie or something along those lines. I just saw how easily people were throwing tunes on SoundCloud and so forth, so I figured why not give it a shot myself! I'm always listening to music in my free time and sometimes I'd throw my own verses on songs that already existed. My friends and family seemed to really enjoy that, so that's when I really began trying to create my own sound and then later on producing it.
How does being from the Netherlands affect your music? I was born and raised in Leiderdorp, The Netherlands, but later moved to Penang, Malaysia. Penang is a small island off the coast of Malaysia and there I attended an international school. I then returned to The Netherlands again to finish high school and obtain my International Baccalaureate and later attend a local university in Amsterdam to study aviation engineering. My whole life I've been raised in a multicultural environment with various sounds all around me. As a child I was raised with a lot of Tupac, 50 Cent, Metallica and Guns 'n Roses. It's therefore no surprise that my two favourite genres are rap and rock. I guess all of it has definitely affected my music in some type of way because I can't really pinpoint my genre haha. I'm just a hybrid of sounds from all over the place.
Can you give us a more in-depth description of your "hybrid of sounds"? If we take a look at the songs that are receiving the most attention, such as "Red Lights" or "RACHEL," I'd say I fall under the commercial hip-hop/trap genre. "Red Lights" is heavily autotuned, giving a Travis Scott vibe, while "RACHEL" has no autotune, but is just an aggressive agglomeration of me yelling things that sound good. Then we have my darker sounds, such as "Sanity to Madness," which portray a dark, futuristic yet unknown atmosphere and sound. I don't really know how to perfectly describe it to be honest, the listener is free to interpret it however they want to. Last but not least, here come my soft sounds. I recently released "betweenflowers" on SoundCloud, which was written on a rainy day. It's very gentle and is almost like me rapping while telling a story, as well as me actually singing in between my verses. All my songs are a snapshot of my mind and thoughts in that moment. I'm a rollercoaster of thoughts!
When did you realize you were actually good at making music? I began realizing I was good at it once people started commenting on my tracks on. My mini "breakthrough" was when one of my favourite YouTubers "YoungHalfington" reviewed my song "Red Lights." That's when my SoundCloud kind of started to kick-off and I really began getting the plays, comments and likes I was previously missing. My first music video (of that song) is currently in the making and that will also be my first single!
What growth can fans expect to see from Mona Mula in the future? I don't know how to deviate from the mainstream here but just like many artists, I'd love to have my own tour, stage, album and so forth one day. Working with big artists also sounds incredibly exciting. One goal for the future is also to continue being myself. I'm not from the hood or the ghetto, I'm literally just a nerdy science student and I will forever remain the geek that I am, despite doing all that bad bitch talk. I'd also like to help others in the future. If I make it, I'd like to share my wealth with those who don't have what I have. Thanks so much Mona Mula for giving us a little inside edition on the make-up of such a talented individual as yourself. We here at Da Insider Magazine wish you all the best. Any upcoming events or releases you would like to mention? For sure! My first music video is a huge project. We've been planning it for months and we finally got down to filming on the 6th of December 2018. It will be ready for release in February, I'm not sure exactly when, where and how. That's also still a subject of debate. All I know is that it's going to be BIG.

NEW YEAR,
NEW GOALS: How to Effectively Plan in 2019
It's 2019, the beginning of a new year, new resolutions, and new opportunities to make big changes in your life. It's the turning point where people try to leave old habits behind and create new, more productive choices. It's the perfect time to start making plans that will help push you along your career path. Setting a list of goals for yourself is the first step in making things happen for your future, whether your passion is music or anything else. It's easy to set vague goals that are unrealistic and too ambitious, which makes them basically unachievable. It takes more thought and planning to come up with goals that are specific and attainable. Those are the ones that will propel you step by step to achieving your ultimate reward - success in doing what you're passionate about.
Be &lear about your e.d goal Before starting your list of goals, make sure you know where you'd like to be when all is said and done. What is the ultimate goal that you're working toward, and does that goal align with your values and who you are as a person? Listen to your inner voice and don't be influenced by what may be perceived as the top of your profession. That may not be your personal goal or what you're necessarily aiming for. Be honest with yourself and stay true to what you want. The more you align your goals with your values, the more you'll be motivated to actually achieve them. And having goals that are motivating is key to completion. You should feel excited about working toward your goal and look forward to achieving it.
Defi.e & refi.e the SMART way So now that you have listed the things you would like to accomplish, the next step is crucial, and it's one that unfortunately many people miss. It is refining your goals into a clearly defined vision using the S.M.A.R.T. goal process. So how exactly do you do that? SMART is an acronym that when broken down explains it all.
with goal m le b o r p e Specific - aOt nthe goals can be too th re setting is als are mo o G . e u g a v specific e r a broad or y e th when too achievable Vague goals leave t, ed. inty, doub and detail ta r e c n u r m fo r much roo hibits poo x e d n a , confusion skills. planning

Attainable - When creating goals keep in mind that you want them to stretch your ability but still be attainable. Is it possible for you to reach this goal, or are you setting your sights too high? Listing goals that are out of your reach is a surefire way to set yourself up for failure.

Using the S.M.A.R.T. technique to layout your plans helps to refine an otherwise vague and useless goal. For example, a non-SMART goal would be "I will start recording more songs", as opposed to a SMART goal which would look more like "I will record and release a 13-track mixtape within the next three months."
Be comm'tted Once your goals are set, the task now becomes seeing them through to completion. And that takes commitment! Be committed to seeing this through to the end. Zero in on the task at hand and stay focused. In fact, start today! Don't let that old enemy procrastination settle in. The sooner you get started, the sooner you'll reach completion. Also, be committed to overcoming any challenges that may threaten to stand in your way. Find solutions for the legitimate problems, and completely eliminate the ones that are just excuses. You may be surprised at how many obstacles you can actually overcome.
Have an accountab'l'ty partner Having someone hold you accountable for completing your goals is extra motivation to get the job done. Whether it's a friend, a manager, a music colleague, or just someone who encourages and supports your dream, there should be someone expecting to hear from you about the progress you've made. Send a weekly update, or set up regular meetings to share with each other the advancements you've made and the challenges you're facing. When other people are involved, there's no room for procrastination.
Reward your progre.. Working toward completing goals can be quite stressful. It's imperative that you remain positive and in a good head space when things start to get hectic. Rewarding your progress is an effective way to avoid becoming overwhelmed. Treat yourself whenever you check something off your goal list. It'll recharge your battery and have you geared up and ready for your next challenge. Besides, you worked hard so you deserve it.
Goal. aren't wr'tten 'n .tone Being committed is crucial, however it's just as important to be flexible. Life will most definitely interrupt your momentum at times. Things happen, plans change, life just gets in the way, and it's OK. Don't be afraid to make necessary adjustments. Just because you're behind schedule doesn't mean that all is lost. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Throughout the process remember your end goal and what you're working toward. Stay focused on your passion and let that motivate you every step of the way.
