MONOCOQUE DESIGN

Monocoque (MQ) reels do away with the use of this two-piece design, instead replacing the sideplate with a large direct screw-in engine plate. This design nullifies the need for the screws and therefore, the extra material required on the main frame for a threaded hole to accept the screw. Monocoque bodies are therefore more compact than their traditional counterparts, and as a result of that design the size of drive gear which can be installed is maximised.

BENEFITS OF MONOCOQUE

Benefits of the engine plate design is the removal of a lot of potential entry points for water and debris into the main gearbox of the spinning reel. By removing the sideplate and therefore the area where the sideplate and the frame meet, along with the 3-4 screw holes, MQ reels are much more sealed to the elements than a normal sideplate equipped spinning reel.

Briefly mentioned above, a benefit of maximising the internal space by removing the screws and necessary material, the drive gear size of MQ reels is maximised. Larger drive gears provide reels with increased power and torque, which translates to a feeling of effortless power to the angler. The increased torque of the gear also means the gear is more efficient, which in turn also translates to a longer lasting gear since it isn’t under as much stress for the same power output.

Monocoque (MQ) reels exhibit functional benefits the angler can feel on multiple fronts, reels that are both lighter and smaller than previous models, making them more comfortable to fish. Also delivering benefits of being more powerful, easier to wind under load and better sealed to the outside elements.

ZAION

A high-density resin and carbon material, ZAION resists corrosion, and exceeds the strength of traditional reel body materials such as magnesium and alloy. This rigid yet lightweight material is utilised in both reel bodies and Daiwa’s innovative rotor designs.

ATD/ATD TYPE L

Daiwa’s ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag) uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia resulting in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

Daiwa’s innovative AIR BAIL features a hollow tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Line easily slides along the AIR BAIL towards the line roller for trouble free line control.

Ultimate protection is delivered to the engine room of the reel with a magnetised oil seal located on the main shaft of the reel’s rotor shutting the door to the elements and unwanted intruders. Dust, water, and salt intrusion into the inner workings of a reel are a thing of the past with MAGSEALED technology.

ZAION V

One of the hardest working and exposed areas of a spin reel is protected with a MAGSEALED barrier shutting out the elements for optimum line roller bearing protection, performance and longevity.

Lighter, stronger reels. The carbon hybrid resin material ZAION V is created by precisely controlling the amount of hybrid carbon in the mix. It achieves a weightlessness that surpasses metals whist maintaining a strength comparable to metal, and has the versatility to be mounted on many reels. It inherits the essence of the original ZAION, which can be said to be the MAX specs of carbon hybrid resin.

TWISTBUSTER II/III

AIR ROTOR

Twistbuster is Daiwa’s exclusive line-twist reduction system that features a tapered line roller to reduce line twisting. Twistbuster is perfect for both nylon and braided lines providing anglers with perfect line management .

LC-ABS

A further evolution of its predecessor Digigear, Tough Digigear is our digitally designed gearing system that ensures ultimate gear precision, rotational smoothness, and strength.

23 AIRITY

Truly living up to the name of AIRITY, the newest model is officially Daiwa’s lightest ever traditional spinning reel. With the introduction of AIRDRIVE DESIGN, 23 AIRITY breaks the 150g barrier to deliver never before seen levels of refinement. AIRDRIVE DESIGN incorporates all four elements to deliver a reel which enables precision control from the angler.

AIRDRIVE ROTOR is the most noticeable difference in 23 AIRITY with the flowing lines and smooth design of the new rotor delivering lighter start-up inertia and fluid reeling even under heavy loads. AIRDRIVE BAIL is a one-piece tubular hollow bail arm which has evolved from Daiwa’s original AIR BAIL design. 21 REVELRY FC MQ

Introducing REVELRY, Daiwa’s newest reel developed specifically for Australia & New Zealand.

REVELRY has been crafted from a long history of Daiwa spinning reels in Australia. Taking inspiration from the original Certate release, REVELRY consists of two distinctive and very different models.

A lightweight FC ‘Finesse Custom’ series for the finesse angler, and a robust and durable HD ‘Heavy Duty’ model for anglers who require the ultimate in strength. Extensively redesigned and engineered from drag knob to handle the 20 Saltiga features the most advanced list of features ever, to once again affirm itself as the ultimate saltwater spinning reel.

At the heart of the re-design is the brand new Monocoque body (MQ), a single piece body capable of holding much larger internal gearing. Built upon the formidable foundations of 23 SALTIGA, the new 24 CERTATE SW features a ZAION AIRDRIVE ROTOR decreasing winding resistance & reducing the weight. Sporting a totally new design incorporating the motor housed inside the spool has given Daiwa engineers the ability to increase the efficiency of the powerful motor, the same reliable unit that’s been used on TANACOM U 1000 in the past.

More power is also accompanied by more speed, a feat often difficult to achieve since a faster retrieve inevitably means lower torque. INFEET LTD AGS is a single model series designed alongside the TD BATTLER AGS and incorporates a lot of the same technology such as the SVF Compile-X Nanoplus graphite and X45X Full Shield. This combination delivers an incredibly lightweight blank which is unmatched in sensitivity and responsiveness. Megatop technology integrates a solid carbon tip to blend an extra fast soft tip to a tubular blank. As a result an action which is simply impossible to achieve with a traditional tubular blank construction process is realised.

INFEET LTD AGS is technique specific and was designed to cater to the popular southern technique of fishing lightly weighted soft plastics over vast expanses of shallow water flats for estuary species such as bream, flathead and whiting. A request of Daiwa angler Mark Crompton, the action was one missing from Daiwa’s range and fills a gap in the market to perfectly cater to this technique.

INFEET SK series offers angler’s some new actions with Fuji’s popular SK (Skeleton) reel seat configuration and is a testament to Daiwa’s commitment to the light tackle angling community.

Apart from the obvious change of reel seat configuration, INFEET SK also boasts some other interesting features most notably a combination guide train of a Fuji Titanium SiC stripper guide followed by a near-full set of Daiwa’s AGS carbon fibre guides. In order to catch bigger fish, Daiwa worked tirelessly on-site with testers to create “stress-free lure operation” (Concept 1), which allows you to keep your lure moving comfortably throughout a day of fishing.

CONCEPT 1- Stress-free lure operation

The important thing in shore jigging and casting is to keep manipulating the lure to capitalise on all chance at a bite. Whilst casting from rock ledges large lures and jigs over 100g are often used which can take a toll on the angler. These lures are sometimes sensitive to action, and often you are fighting the tide and waves to lure in the fish. Daiwa carefully considered the tip material and taper from various perspectives, and pursued a smooth taper for load transfer and excellent blank recovery. This has greatly improved the ability for anglers to work lures freely.

CONCEPT 2- Overwhelming fighting performance

In developing the DRAGGER, we carried out a major review of the power ranking of shore jigging rods. DRAGGER “BREAKTHROUGH” is designed to subdue the biggest fish possible and an anglers experience can feel like a literal life and death struggle. BRAIDED LINES

Braided lines gained popularity in Australia back in the early 2000’s as anglers started to search for an alternative to traditional nylon lines.

Braided line has advanced a lot since its inception but the key traits of the line remain the same. Thin diameters, low stretch and abrasion resistance are the three key features of braid that have been retained giving anglers increased feel, durability and handling.

As materials, construction and coating processes have changed over time the performance of braided lines has increased dramatically.

WHAT IS PE LINE?

Polyethylene (PE) is a synthetic polymer that is widely used in various applications due to its strength, durability, and resistance to abrasion. In the context of fishing, PE fibers are commonly used in a braided form. These braided PE lines have become popular among anglers for their strength-to-diameter ratio, sensitivity, and low stretch.

When a PE rating is applied to fishing line it is a measure of the lines diameter – not the lines breaking strain. PE lines will vary in strength between brands. For example, line rated at PE 2.5 may break at 25lb, 30lb or 40lb depending on quality/construction.

DIFFERENT BRAID RATINGS

PE RATING- The PE rating of a braid the measure of its diameter, not the braids strength. This is based on the Japanese Gou which is an old measurement used for silk. PE ratings allow you spool your reels correctly.

TEST RATING- The TEST rating of a braid is the advertised breaking strain of braid. This style of rating was popularized with the introduction of Gel Spun line to the market.

ACTUAL RATING- The Actual rating is the actual average breaking strain of a braided line. This is often stronger than the TEST rating (ie; TEST 8lb | Actual 19lb).

NUMBER OF STRANDS, MATERIALS AND WEAVE

4, 8, 12 STRANDS- Braided (PE) lines can vary in the amount of strands present. Most braid will be either 4. 8, 12 strands, the number of strands used and the spinning/braiding process used will dictate a braids strength. The higher the number of strands will generally increase the smoothness and handling of a braid.

RAW MATERIALS & COATINGS- Raw materials and coatings that are used to created braided drastically change the characteristics of braided line. For example, J-Braid Expedition uses IZANAS fibers that are a very round profile which creates a very dense and round braided line. Various coatings such as Coating PE and Evo Silicon are also added to some braids aiding in cast distance, handling as well as repelling water and containments from entering the fibers which extends the braid’s lifespan.

WEAVE - The pitch of a braid PPI (weaves per inch) will vary depending on the spinning/braiding process used. A high pitch weave creates a higher density braid making it more durable and abrasion resistant. A lower pitch weave creates a braid with a lower density and therefore is typically less abrasion resistance.

Bait Junkie baits and packs are also loaded with Shrimp Power-Oil, a powerful shrimp-based formula to make sure that the moment your lure hits the water it’s working.

It all starts with the hook, and Bait Junkie Jig Heads are built around quality BKK hooks in combination with Daiwa’s SaqSas hook coating, a super-slippery Teflon like coating which increases penetrating power of the hook point providing a superior hook up ratio. Kodachi’s thin round lip bib provides an immediate action, even at slow speeds, but thanks to its shad shape profile, a tight action is still retained when retrieved with a slow roll.

Kodachi is equipped with a magnetic cast weight system. By fitting a small magnet and sliding weight in the head of the lure, Kodachi shifts to bulk of its mass to the tail when casting for long, accurate casts. But when cranked down, the sliding weight is locked in place by the magnet, ensuring that the tight and stable action is consistent. Daiwa’s new range of tackle trays, D-BOX has been designed and developed to produce a cohesive range of purpose-built storage perfectly suited to the modern angler. Available in a range of sizes & depths, Daiwa’s D-BOX range is made from recycled polypropylene, a low-impact material which delivers no toxic waste, no emissions, no fluorocarbons & no halogens in its process.

All Daiwa D-BOX’s feature a 4 sided clasp system to ensure secure latching and to fully compress the water-resistant gasket seal which is installed 360 degrees around the lids of all D-BOX models.

Each box was carefully designed to maximise storage and versatility with features like spinnerbait storage incorporated into the D-BOX MD and SD models.

The D-BOX LSU & SSU (Shallow Universal) are unique boxes with moulded silicon holders which grab hooks and don’t let go, a perfect jighead or soft vibe storage box.
