The fifth-graders at Shannon Park and Parkview elementary schools are in for a musical treat this fall. Steve Olsen, co-director of the award-winning bands at Rosemount High School for the past 18 years, will bring his baton to the elementary schools as fifth-grade band director this fall. Olsen said it has been his honor to direct the high school band, and it’s an appropriate time for the change with Leon Sieve, who has been at the school since 2002, set to lead the program. “I am so proud of all

the wonderful students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members that I have had the pleasure to teach, work with and get to know, he wrote in an email sent this weekend to band members and supporters. “However, it is the incredible Rosemount High School students, past and present, that I will miss the most. “Steve Olsen is one of the best people I have come across in my professional career, Principal John Wollersheim wrote in an email. “He cares about students. He is interested in their individual needs. He is interested in their individual development.
