Tommy Halloran’s Guerrilla Swing Jazz at the Bistro Concert Series presents
Tommy Halloran’s Guerrilla Swing
SOUTH GRAND LOCATION ONLY
Vocalist and guitarist Tommy Halloran could best be described as the love child of Randy Newman and Tom Waits. The basis of Guerrilla Swing formed in 2009 as a pickup band of musicians hired for various random gigs at Washington University, BB’s Jazz, Blues & Soups, private parties and events. The lineup for his group, Guerrilla Swing, has solidified into Mark Wallace on bass, Kristian Baarsvik on saxophones, and Kevin Cheli on drums. The group pays homage to the great jazz tradition with a vintage swing sound. While heavily influenced by jazz Guerrilla Swing is not a straight on jazz band. Their sets consist of improvisational jazz with an upbeat rock undercurrent to the songs. Guerrilla Swing was named the overall Best Band in St. Louis 2014 by the RFT
