PE and Sport Grant Background In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport, to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. Funding has been allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary phase pupils from 1 September 2013. A typical primary school receives about £9,250 annually in the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15. Funding will continue for 2015/16. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach performance levels they are capable of. In 2015/16 our school had received £4327 so far.

This is how we are using the funding: l Participation in after-school clubs

We provide at least one club after school and before school. On certain nights children have the opportunity to experience new and fun activities and games. (Ranging from year 1 to year 6) l Clubs are open to all and adapted to suit all children’s needs.
