Undergraduate Programs

To give you the technical know-how to navigate and succeed in our ever-changing world, Dalhousie's Faculty of Computer Science offers two undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Applied Computer Science and Bachelor of Computer Science.

We’ve created a first-year experience that provides you with a great foundation in computer science and problem-solving. Regardless of your program of choice, you will develop programming skills, explore the foundations of computer science and design, and embark on a year long exploration of the social and philosophical impacts of computing.

We have more computer science professors and researchers than any other university in Atlantic Canada. Here, you will learn in an environment rich in leading-edge technology and where hands-on labs will introduce you to a whole new world. We’re closely connected to industry, with endless opportunities for growth through our co-op program, research projects, or networking at fun industry-led events through technology innovation hub ShiftKey Labs.

Technology is everywhere, and computer science graduates are in demand in every industry. Our goal is to equip you with the deep technical, problem-solving and leadership skills needed to create new computing technologies and to harness software to empower people, organizations and society. From improving how people interact with today’s cyber security to helping protect the oceans using artificial intelligence, you can make an impact and find an inspiring career that’s right for you.

Here We Code is a campaign that unites businesses, industries, students, and residents of Nova Scotia to take advantage of the opportunities in digital as we grow, together. As a Dalhousie Computer Science undergraduate student, you will have access to everything the digital ecosystem in Nova Scotia has to offer. COMPUTER SCIENCE

Gain a deep understanding of the theory, design and application of computer science by exploring a wide range of areas including software development, algorithms, networking and graphics.

By the end of your degree, you will have the knowledge and skills to build, influence and evaluate technology. You’ll not only become a strong programmer, but will master the skills needed to create new and innovative technologies that can shape how we will use computers and interact with each other in the future.
