ABSTRACT

FARM LAB is a research center for Jebel Hafeet studies which include an Archaeology HQ, education center and Botanic Studies Hub. This one of a kind building addresses the needs of scientists and educators from basic shelter needs to recreational needs. The design is made up of 3 organic shapes that act together as one inside the mountain. The north east placement provides large openings without direct sunlight. The concept behind this design explores parasitic architecture in which the building acts as a parasite clinging onto the Jebel Hafeet mountain.

ABSTRACT

PRISM interprets art onto the building itself by building an iconic giant in the heart of Abu Dhabi. PRISM focuses on experience of the visitor by creating spaces which enhance the vision and design of contemporary architecture. Fluidity throughout the building creates ramps and slopes which ease the visitors journey. The big shell which is the building itself is an envelope like structure which holds itself up while the floors are held up by there own structure which is a common column structure. Also, the building was designed to hold different types of activities on different floors, with exhibitions being on the ground floor and upper floors while the rest of the functions are on the lower floors. To help maximize space and use basement floors with access of natural lighting, slopes were created in the ground to let light slip onto lower levels to create a feeling of openness.

H O U S I N G ABSTRACT

One main focus of this project is to rebalance the economy state and creating a self-sustaining solid community as there is not only jobs, but opportunities for everyone to live sufficiently, productively, and contribute to the community by clearing the ground level for work space while lifting up the residential units, creating by that a dynamic business-like center and a viable place on the ground level that is part of everyday life, also reviving the old concept that each family can have its own business downstairs and individuals are few steps far from the shopping space where they can go shop for their daily needs such as bread, fresh meat, etc., as well as socialize.

Children can safely play around the area and the design altogether encourages social solidarity and creating a strong self-dependent community.

The streets are to the back of the houses and vehicular access is restricted, only entering the compounds to the parking space on the back and there is a back staircase leading to each houses social points and circulation path. Also, On a larger scale, the houses are all facing a in between the houses blocks there is parks and huge urban space separated spatially from the playing areas for children and teenagers who houses blocks by smaller social fields, the off- play sports.

The structure of the units is a metal structure that can have a fifty-year lifespan and units can be attached together and detached easily as the units themselves are prefabricated elements and using prefab components. The circulation has its independent structure and can be installed in any space and dismantled easily. As for materials, local available materials are used such as limestone as a cladding, reused wood, and recycled glass exploiting all recyclable debris. Coral wool is fabricated to be used as insulation material in the walls of the units acting forcing the unit to act as a thermal units keeping heat energy at winter or cool air inside at summer. Not forgetting to mention using projecting mashrabiya panels that ensures privacy carved with an artistic pattern that recalls the old art of Aleppo but providing a modern design.

N A T U R E ABSTRACT

One with Nature is a proposal that hopes to reconnect people with nature, and people with outdoor activities amongst other things. This 107,250 m2 area is in amidst of all the knowledge and innovation action which the Abu Dhabi Government is promoting to realise. This district is currently a farm area which is mostly abandoned. it not only creates a block for connectivity but it acts as an important place since its in between The wadi and other institutional facilities. This project lies in between an important knowledge infrastructure which can only be completed by A public Library, community center for youth and children, shops, restaurants, square, plaza, stepped landscape which acts as the perfect place for events or just relaxing under the shade. Also, to help connecting the community with nature, a habitat is provided for travelling birds and small animals that are often seen around the area, not only that but its all connected to a research facility since its specialized in nature studies.

C I T Y ABSTRACT

It is critical to make the decision to build a green building early in the design process in order to maximize the green potential, minimize redesign, and assure the overall success and economic viability of the green elements of the building project. In this project, pedestrians are given the priority with giving them back the ground floor and creating tunnels and different paths for vehicles. When vehicles are given lower roads this helps keep air fresher on the pedestrian level, also greenery helps filter that air. By doing that, the area is less accident prone and more environmentally friendly. Plaza’s and meeting points are built underground to shield from the direct sun-rays and lower the overall temperature. Residential buildings are placed in reference with vernacular architecture which puts every 2 houses adjacent to each other creating liwans between them which provides shade for pedestrians.

Power Generation

The total area of the PV area is 15,000 sq. It provides 1600 KW per hours. If we assume that we have sun around 12 house per day, that means we have 19000 KW per day. However, the average of emarti houses consumption 20 KW. So, we can provide power for 40 houses per day.

ABSTRACT

SKLTN is a structure made from interweaving lines that created patterns in 2D which were then turned to 3D objects. This structure provides shade, and different zones which have different hierarchies depending on its use. Furthermore, When these objects interact they create passages which enhance the experience of mystery since they are changeable.

ABSTRACT

ASCEND is a look-out located on Jebel Hafeet, AlAin, UAE. The project located on one of Jebel Hafeet's unique curves increases the experience by blending in using natural materials like wood. Wood was used as a structural element as-well as steel bracing located under the glass pathway which is an addition for thrill seekers.
