PUBLISHER’S NOTE

ISSUE 40: SUMMER 2021

WELCOME C

an you feel it? Summer is upon us in Dallas, and while it may be another sizzler, the air seems a little fresher, the skies a bit more vibrant and the outlook infinitely sunnier that it was just a few months ago. Now in our 11th year of publication, this new edition of Dallas Hotel Magazine signals the interesting times ahead in our community.

Photo - Chip Richie

Texas’s impressive growth curve, business-friendly atmosphere and housing affordability has made it an economic envy all over America. Esteemed Dallas community leader Tom Luce wants to make sure the state’s legendary prosperity continues, which is why he developed a nonprofit project known as Texas 2036 (which will be our state’s 200th anniversary). Luce and his dedicated team are hard at work planning for a future that simply cannot wait. We’ll explain why Texas 2036’s work is so critical to the future generations.

Then, the term “renaissance” man or woman is thrown around a lot these days. But when it comes to Bobby Hass, it truly fits like a glove. From his outstanding business successes to working as a daredevil ariel photographer for National Geographic, and a motorcycle designer and collector with his own museum, he’s packed a lot into his life. Now a new film, Leaving Tracks, chronicles Haas’s world, and the exciting things that occurred when he let his passion and purpose collide. In a DHM continuing series called “Live Like A Local,” we take a fresh look around our urban core and highlight some of the exciting things to see and do in and around Downtown Dallas that should be on your list if they aren’t already. Plus, join us on a tour of some of the region’s favorite spas. After all, who couldn’t use a little pampering this summer?

We also introduce you to the best places to dine and shop on and around Knox Street, one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the city. We are experiencing a reopening here in north Texas with a variety of concerts, festivals, performances and more, happening on stages all over our area on just about every night of the week. We present a robust schedule of local events for the quarter in The Scene, with details on nearly 70 events per month, plenty of activities to fill up any contemporary date book. We also provide information on a diversity of chic restaurants, super cool local watering holes, extraordinary shopping, and more. Please enjoy this new edition of Dallas Hotel Magazine, with our compliments. It’s the definitive guide for discerning visitors to Big D.
