01.THE ARCH HOUSING COMPLEX
fourth year community studio | sketchup / photoshop The Arch is an intergenerational housing complex that supports interaction and community. The housing complex has five different unit types and altogether has 74 units. The arch was a symbol used within the building as it symbolically represents coming into a new phase of one’s life, as well as being a historically significant Detroit brick feature. For the design of the building itself, it integrates a hybrid of a townhome and apartment building. This feature was used to address the immediate street level well and to make seniors feel more at home with a style that they would recognize. The building complex promotes independent living with a central core that supports community having various gathering spaces. The first floor houses residents who do not need any care and the second floor is for residents who need scheduled care. The third and fourth floor are equally divided between extensive care units and student living. Students living in the complex are partnered with a senior resident to subsidize their living costs and help with the overall quality of life for the senior. In summary, the Arch is an intergenerational housing complex that offers seniors a new way of life that facilitates interaction and community.

02.EAST WARREN SOCIALIZER third year community studio | sketchup / photoshop
This community design studio was based in an area of Detroit called East Warren. We engaged with community stakeholders and analyzed data from the Restorin’ East Warren Project to help us determine a building program that would fit the community needs. My project focuses on a series of housing modules that can be easily replicated in the community. Also vertical farming was used to engage the community in away that would be beneficial for everyone who lived in the building and would help be a source of food for the community.

06. T E C H N I C A L EXPERIENCE
summer 2018 | autocad
For my coop experience I was very lucky to work at a small firm where I was introduced to various projects. One of my proudest accomplisments of working at the firm was designing a home for a client. This home is on a very small lot. The client had a lot of requirements including an income basement rental. The house is set to be built in the summer of 2019. site plan

LASALLE FLOAT SPA This project was an interior alteration to an existing plaza, and building a float spa. We started off taking existing measurements of the unit, creating a floor plan layouts, and then creating the construction document. The client for the project worked with MMA Architect before to create a Float Spa, so this was the second one that my firm completed for them. The client wanted to keep most of the same layout as the existing Float Spa. But this plaza had a more unique space. This project I worked on from taking the measurements of the existing, creating different options. Engaging in client reviews, and taking the project to the construction document.

08. GEMINI CHAIR
winter 2019 | bending wood
This project was completed for a fabrication graduate level class. The chair was inspired by UNStudios Gemini Chair. The process I used for this project was using 1/8 bending plywood. During this process the wood pieces are cut and laminated together and pressed in a mold for 48 hours. The asymmetrical design allows for two different seating positions.
