Adaptable
Gathering inspiration from the ever-changing world around us, I set out to create a space that adapts to our needs. A personal space that allows for one to be productive yet relax when needed.
IDEATION PROCESS
I explored various methods for accommodating different sitting positions without the use of any mechanisms. The final solution used a cushion that if moved, could transform the chair.

Wall Mount: The mount sticks out far enough so your pedals wont scuff your wall and also provides storage space.
Pegboard: The pegboard allows complete customization. Ideal for bikes of different geometries.
3
Peg: The pegs shape prevents the bike from shifting and securely slides into the holes.

“Using principles of aesthetics, interaction and emotion design an air purifier that creates a fresh environment at home.

PROBLEM STATEMENT Air pollution is a growing problem responsible for millions of deaths per year. The atmosphere at home should be an escape from the pollution outdoors.

MARKET INSIGHTS
People living in highly polluted areas are aware of the health risks, making air purifying products second in the air treatment market next to heaters/ air conditioners.
The health benefits of air treatment appeal to more consumers than just those who suffer from asthma or allergies. The market offers sophisticated home systems but growth lacks in small consumer appliances.
OPPORTUNITY MAKE AIR PURIFIERS MORE PERSONAL AND RESPONSIVE TO INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES.
BRAINSTORMING
REFINED IDEATION I set out to create something that the user can connect with on a deeper level. I decided to leave a cubby space atop the product. This provides a place the user can seed a low-maintenance plant, serve as a charging station for a phone, or a place where one can keep things handy. I also thought about interaction with the product. The two touch points are textured; first, the top cubby that can be removed to change an air filter and second, the bottom that can be unscrewed for maintenance.
Indigo’s small footprint allows the user to take it from room to room. It can sit besides a computer and charge via USB. The machine has a motion and sound sensor, all you have to do is wave your hand or speak in front of it to turn it on. Pre-programed settings in part with an air quality monitor will turn off the machine when the air is clean! Before passing through the filter, the air goes through an Ultraviolet Light, eliminating any potential harm of airborne bacteria and viruses.

“The demand of urban living is rising. How can design challenge shortage of space this creates in the kitchen ?
damian.h10@gmail.com
PROBLEM STATEMENT The city of tomorrow is short on space, busy, and compact. Living spaces are shrinking to meet these trends. This creates a challenge when trying to create livable, yet functional spaces at home. This problem is best exemplified in the kitchen. The lack of space in the kitchen makes cooking a discouraging task. How can design be used to create a comfortable kitchen in a small space?

PRELIMINARY IDEATION
After interviewing a sample of people and conducting market research I pinpointed the most common problems that people encountered in a small kitchen. The challenge was creating a product that addressed all of these problems. The Following sketches explore everything from aesthetics to mechanics.

WA S H / DRY With NOOKS the kitchen can be laid out to allow a smooth work flow. If a NOOK was placed atop the sink, one can transition from washing to drying and storing in one easy step. A NOOK above the stove is just in reach when preparing tasty meals. A NOOK above a designated prep area allows for a space beyond the counter top.
