01 The Nutmeg Tavern Project Type : Adaptive Reuse
Period : October 2019 - February 2020
Area : 1000 sq m
Location : Abercrombie & Fitch, 270 Orchard Road, Singapore 288579
Design Issue Orchard Road is a famous shopping district especially for tourists and locals. With the massing of commercial malls along the road, it might seem overwhelming and repetitive for locals especially the common programmes and eateries. There are not many sheltered rest areas since many users walk along the stretch of Orchard Road. The history of Orchard Road is not recognized by many locals and tourists due to the vast enclosed and modernized buildings.
Design Intent A place for people to get away from the busy shopping malls along Orchard Road. A place for them to relax in a cultural cafe on Orchard’s History and do such cultural coherence activities like communal gardening, & a library for users to work and study.

AutoCAD Furniture Detailing Helping out at the FF&E department with their AutoCAD drawings of their customized furniture. Some of their customized furniture can start from scratch through sketches or from an old cad file, just to make amendments of the drawing design and details. Shown below are some examples of work. Buffet console table with loose cabinet for their asian restaurant

AutoCAD Drafting Millworks I was also tasked to do many AutoCAD detailed drawings of millworks for their project areas – to be in-charge of the new updates and changes to the design of the millworks on their floor plans, sectional elevations and blow up details in different scales. Shown below are some examples of work. Customized cheese wheel millwork for their specialty restaurant

Design Proposal I was also given the chance to design the sanitary area of one of their project by producing a set of PowerPoint slides at the end. Firstly, I was tasked to create mood images on PowerPoint slides and with a format. After which to do some scaled sketches of my design and create 3D rendered perspectives of my design intent using Sketchup. While building up the 3D model on the software, I had to find and select materials to propose for my toilet design from their library at the same time. I was also tasked to create a physical mood board as well. Lastly, to collate mood images, sketches, 3D rendered perspectives, proposed materials into the PowerPoint slides in a presentable format and that it could tell the story of my design intent.

Concept / Process Connection, Feasibility, Mobility & Sustainability Create an interactive experience through the 4 concepts using the 7 principles of Red Cross to educate the users. These concepts will be applied onto the Cafe, Kitchen & Shop+ through the activities and design intentions proposed. Cafe will be the main attraction since it is the first thing the users will see.
7 Principles of Red Cross Singapore Humainty, Impartiality, Neutral, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, Universality
Started with the ideation of pods within the cafe area with a vertical farming system & stratigic ways to harvest the herbs & vegetables. It can be used as a cycle of both growing and reduction of food waste by using them as fertilizers.
Axis points were formed to connect the cafe back to the site building and the main entry points of the campsite. Arranged the pods according to the interception axis points to show sense of direction. The center of the axis is the workshop.
More farming systems were added to intergrate the seating pods with the vertical elements - hydroponic farming system. It is a more sustainable than normal farming. It is also arranged parallel to the axis.
With the help of landscape design, More of the hydroponic planting system was added around the cafe site. This allows the community or users to explore more around the cafe site.
Polycarbonated Roof
Table Scaffolding Connectors
Pods have a scofolding system with removable PVC roofing containers and portable furnitures. These features ensure mobility of the pods.
