Message from Dance Victoria Producer Welcome to The Nutcracker! Whether you’re beginning a new holiday tradition, or revisiting an old favourite, I am sure you’ll be enthralled by this production set in turn-ofthe-century Russia. Emmy-award winning designer, Zack Brown, has created a million dollars in stunning sets and costumes from Cossack soldiers to snowflakes dressed as Russian princesses. The number of people that come together to make this performance happen always amazes me. The scale of this production is enormous: 30 dancers from Alberta Ballet; 36 members of the Victoria Symphony; 43 local children;
20 backstage crew; and 15 volunteers come together for every performance. That’s 100+ dedicated people! It takes a whole community of people pulling together to make magic happen and to make it look effortless for your enjoyment. From all of us at Dance Victoria, have the happiest of holiday seasons. Now sit back and experience the magic! Memories are made at The Nutcracker. Stephen White, Producer
